Mais personne n’est dupe. Ces mesures vont dans le bon sens, mais sont trop faibles, sont loin de balayer assez de sujets et bien en deçà des attentes sociétales ! Cinq ans pour fermer 4 élevages de visons dont 2 sont traînés en justice ? Il était grand temps! Pas de date pour la fin des cirques... le dressage occulté et des approximations dans la mise en œuvre ! Les marathoniens de l’océan sortiront des bassines chlorées a minima dans 7 ans. Nous nous réjouissons de larrêt immédiat de la reproduction et de l’interdiction de lacquisition de nouveaux cétacés captifs selon nos demandes. La ministre envisage la création dun sanctuaire, nous proposons notre expertise avec nos partenaires pour cet accompagnement… Hier, deux bélugas retrouvaient une semi-liberté, c’est possible, et tellement souhaitable! He asked one of the trainers why the elephants didn’t try to break free, and the trainer responded that its because they use the same size rope for baby elephants all the way up to adulthood. Because they’re too small when they’re babies to break free from the rope, they grow up being conditioned that the rope is stronger than they are. As adults, they think the rope can still hold them, so they don’t try to fight it. The moral? The elephants in this story are experiencing something called learned helplessness. This occurs when someone (say, a child) has been conditioned to anticipate discomfort in some way, without having a way to avoid it or make it stop. After enough conditioning, they will stop any attempts to avoid the pain, even if they see an easy opportunity to escape. Like the elephants, we have to let go of our past limiting beliefs in order to make the breakthroughs that are required for our ultimate success. Often, the only thing holding us back is a small rope of conditioning. Test that rope this week, and see if its really as strong as youve been conditioned to think it is. Three new lion cubs at Liuwa Plain National Park in Western Zambia are growing fast, and have recently been introduced to the pride. The mother of these cubs is 7 years old and has birthed all five of the females in the pride. Before @africanparksnetwork assumed management of Liuwa Plain National Park in 2003, all but one lioness remained, “Lady Liuwa.” In 2008, African Parks began a series of lion reintroductions to reunite this last lioness with her own kind, and thus new life began as she slowly joined a pride that grew to 10 lions. Over a similar period, eland and buffalo were also reintroduced to the park and the plains game began to increase, providing a healthy prey base for the lions. Sadly, 2017 saw the natural passing of Lady Liuwa who lived to the ripe old age of 18, but she left behind a legacy of a small but growing pride of lions, living their lives together on Liuwa’s flourishing plains. Lioness Siena from the Marsh Pride in the Maasai Mari was badly injured after a horn of a buffalo punctured her left lower flank. Safari guides saw her and called up rangers who alerted veterinarian Dr Njoroge from Kenya Wildlife Service. Him and his team treated Siena which took a little over an hour. Two days later she was spotted doing remarkably well, we hope she is able to continue to improve.
