La verdad es que nos sorprendió con un escenario lindísimo y agüita suficiente para agarrar fuerzas y seguir. The biggest thing I’ve learned during my 12 days of fostering Lila is patience. Going in, I realize I had unrealistic expectations of foster puppy motherhood. I didn’t know how much work it would be to get her comfortable on a leash (we are still working on that), how much time it takes to introduce her to new situations and that you can’t even run or walk a puppy much until they’re older. I didn’t know how heart wrenching it would be to hear her cry when I leave her (working on that too). I didn’t know how much I would love training her and how gratifying it is to see her “stay,” even if it is just for five steps. I didn’t know that we would bond so quickly. Our original fostering period was supposed to be two weeks but the shelter I’m working with has graciously extended it for us for another week so we have a little more time to make sure we are through the honeymoon period and that she fits into our lives. Reflections on a lake As I walk under this starry sky, wandering in the unknowns, With no clue whats happening in my life, I walk towards a lake, sit there and cry. As I wipe my tears a little, I see these reflections come into sight. Its 1879,I see a child giving food to his servants son without the knowledge of his family because they wouldnt approve their friendship. But for them friendship had no status. 1914, World War 1, a husband is promising his wife that he will come back soon. Theres hope in her eyes and theres fear. Fear that he might not return the same. 1931, theres a woman, sobbing. Why wasnt I enough ? She screams, Why did he cheat on me? she continues. 1945, a mother, mourning over her son whom she lost in an accident. Wondering how she is going to live the rest of her life without him. 1972, a boy, waiting for his boyfriend to reach the lake. They are going to elope, to a far away land as their love is beyond peoples understanding in the town. 1996, a father, dreaming about how he is going to earn money and his family would never have to face any inconvenience again. 2001, an old Muslim man is being beaten because of 9/11 attack. He is begging for them to have mercy and leave him, they dont know he suffered a loss in that attack too, not that they care. 2003, a little girl grasps several breaths as she cries, while her parents burry her bunny. The light of her life is no more. 2015, a couple is on their first date. They have butterflies in their stomachs, thinking how every heartbreak they had, was leading them to end up with each other. 2020, I see my own reflection, with tears in my eyes shouting that Im a failure. Trying to find the will to live and try again. When all these stories tell me that there is so much more to life than success and failure. This lake has seen it all. It shrieks all the emotions; misery, joy, dreams, failures, hopes, fears, innocence and wickedness. To my wife: 7 years ago we were leaving the smoke filled Wood River Valley in Manny’s suburban headed for Boise and on to #BoraBora. We had just woken up after the best party of our lives. Seriously!!! The high after such a insane wedding was unreal. I still can’t believe we got married in the middle of the #1 national disaster in the US. As I always say, I think it brought our friends and family even closer. So many of our people stood by us as the local Sun Valley population fled town. It was the hell of a way kick off our journey as newly weds and a symbol of what we can endure together. Thank you to all of our friends for making our day so rad and unforgettable. What a great morning 🌞!!! I thought my days taking long walks with Rufus were over. He’s been wanting to go in little geriatric walks close to home but makes it clear when it’s time to go back and lie around. This morning when I was leaving for my walk, he darted out the door to make sure I didn’t leave him inside. Then he sprinted ahead and so I took him walking straight up the hill above the ranch where I am staying for the summer. It was so great to see him running around again. He’s been on medicine for an earache and milk thistle (and no mezcal!) for an inflamed liver. It appears to be working! I’m grateful for every day with this little guy. It was my oldest son’s 12th birthday, so we celebrated in a totally quarantine-appropriate way: we went on a 3-day hiking trip in the Pemigewasset Wilderness in the White Mountains. We joined with a friend of his from nearly birth (and his father, who has been a friend of mine since childhood) and started at Franconia Falls, where I swam as a kid. We spent the first night at 13 Falls, then the second on Guyot Mountain. This photo is from the 3rd day, hiking down the Bondcliff Trail where I look very much like I need a shave and a shower. En la parte de colección tengo guardados lugares como los de esta foto, la mayoría de ellos en Brasil, Estados Unidos, Puerto Rico y Alemania. Este lo tenía desde hace años y hoy pude hacer el check en República Dominicana 😍! Cuantos paisajes hermosos tiene nuestra isla, simplemente no deja de sorprenderme. Luego de varios años loca por hacer el sendero de Aguas Blancas, POR FIN lo pude hacer sin complicaciones. •Desde Santiago son prácticamente 3 horas para llegar al punto de inicio. •Es recomendable ir en vehículo alto, no necesariamente en uno 4x4. •El sendero se hace entre 15 y 20 minutos dependiendo de las paradas que se hagan en el camino. •Es obligatorio pararte en cada estación porque en cada una hay vistas muy diferentes y bellas. •El sendero es tan fácil, que hasta una niña de 4 años lo puede hacer; claro con SUMO cuidado y precaución porque el camino es angosto y no tiene barandas, un paso en falso y tendrás que sacar garras. •Esto no es un charco cualquiera, si vas tienes que hacerlo con MUCHO cuidado; a la hora de salir también. •El agua era antónimo de súper caliente. •Para subir solo necesitas lo indispensable, aguita y un buen calzado. #Constanza es mucho más que agricultura, es paisaje y es gente. In the past, I’d use my 70L backpacking pack for all climbing adventures--including mellow days at the crag sport climbing. I could’ve fit two toddlers in there. Lá olhei para o que eu ganharia ao ter filhos. Abri então uma porta em meu coração e entendi que jamais estaria pronta. Nunca estaremos prontas para nada nessa vida. Essa foi a grande sacada. Não podemos paralisar esperando o momento ideal. Seja qual for o seu sonho, seu desejo ou seu objetivo, comece agora. Assim mesmo, de onde você está. Com as ferramentas que possui. Não existirá o cenário perfeito. Apenas vá e entregue o que tem. Confia nos processos e tudo vai se encaixando. A perfeição não existe! Esse lugar impecável é parte do nosso imaginário, não é real.
