My last day at Drink was today. I spent ten years of my life putting everything into a business, trained countless bartenders, gave people a second home, won numerous awards, devoted myself nearly everyday to an ideal, and then was let go unceremoniously. I left feeling like a criminal being escorted out of the building. Im sick of businesses treating their staff this way. Not even a thank you. We need to change how we treat the those who work for us. They are not disposable. Im more than happy to sacrifice for the good of a business, and would have happily fallen on the sword to protect the jobs of my staff, but after everything Ive done, I should at least leave feeling proud of the job, the company, and the work. I would have happily and willingly stepped down to keep Drink going, but was made to feel like I was worthless. It is unbelievably disheartening. I spent countless hours and put all of my heart into what I did and will miss it and the people so much. It was the best years of my life and I wouldnt change a single thing. I worked to change this city and the way women and bars were seen in the world. I started at Drink because nearly no one else would hire me because I didnt fit a certain mold. I wanted to make a home for the weirdos. A place for those who didnt fit in. I hope that my work changed that and provided opportunities for those who might not have had one in this industry before. I love Drink and gave it everything I had, but am at a loss for how the larger company chose to end things. The last few months were hard and rewarding, I enjoyed building new systems again and creating new methods for making guests comfortable and the staff feel safe, not to mention the to go program. I have an idea of some next steps, and some new adventures. I know I want to build new bars and create some new opportunities. Everything that is happening in the world just makes me think of opportunity. We get to think different. We get to grow. We get to be new. It is an incredible time despite the challenges. Covid has taken everything from me but has also given me myself and the love of my life. I am looking forward to the future and to create more community. - @softestbullet on Instagram

前回の投稿から2ヶ月。 最近は前回も話した通り制作作業に明け暮れておりました。 なんだかんだ音楽って一人で家に篭らないと出来ない作業でもあるから、 たまたまこの状況下と制作期間がぶつかった事もあって、こんなに音楽だけに集中して向き合う事になったのはもしかしたら初めてだったかもしれない。 作っては消しての作業が続きますが、きっと今じゃきゃ生まれなかった曲が出来るのだと思います。 これからの未来についても改めて深く考える時間でもあったかな。 だから自粛期間の中だからといって、元々しない事をし始めたりする事も特になくて、面白いネタがなくてごめんね。 こんなに趣味がない自分に改めてびっくりだけど、思い返したら元々最大の趣味が音楽だったから普通の事なのかもしれない。 けど、外に出れない分気分転換するのがまぁ難しい。笑 でも自分は自分の形で、自分達を応援してくれるファンが何を1番喜んでくれるかを真剣に考えた結果の日々でした。 今やるべき事は次に繋がる音楽だ、と自分の中で答えを出してからはまるで取り憑かれた様だったな。 自分らしくいるってなんだろうと考えると沼の様に答えがなくって、 触れると自分の考えがブレそうになる位、色んな形の正解があるだけにSNSからは離れざるを得なかった気がします。 繊細に考えすぎかもしれないけど、自分にはそれが正解だったし、バンドっていうものは5人で1つだと思っているから、次何か発信するなら5人で何かやりたいな。 形として何か世に出すなら。 もうちょっと細かい近況に関しては最近自宅でラジオを録ったのでよかったら聴いてみてね。 ちなみに葵さんとれいたの分を参考に聴いてから1人で録ったんだけど皆いつものラジオよりも頑張って各々喋っておりました。笑 言葉の数は少ない方かもしれないけど、バンドとしてこれから何かやるとしても一度きりではなく長期的にやっていける何かを考えなければならないと思っています。 難しいけど。 急いで何かをしようとするとらしさを失う気がするので。 でも必ず待っててくれる皆には何か届けたい。 いつもそれ以上も以下もない気持ちを大切に生きたい。 立ち止まらず、でも生き急ぎすぎず。 そんなわけで、もうすぐ東京でも自粛期間が解除される様ですが、誰しも100%明確な答えや正解がわからないこんな未曾有の事態の中に今日も生きてるって事を忘れない様に過ごしたいと思います。 みんな環境や形は違ってもお互い元気でいようね。 早く音を届けられます様に！🤘 #thegazette - @ruki_nilduenilun on Instagram
