I am the luckiest dude in the world because I was blessed with the gift of obesity when I was a child. - I spent my childhood overweight, and transitioned that into an obese 20 year old, diagnosed with pre-hypertension and was told to consider blood pressure medication. - I was called fatso for the first time on the playground in 3rd grade after my family moved to a new town. - I hit rock bottom in college, at 265 pounds with a 42 inch waist, and the ability to break out in a sweat and become very winded just from going upstairs. - This happened for me, and I am grateful for it. - This experience taught me more about the darkness and light of humanity, the powerlessness and powerfulness that I am capable of, and the unique experience that has given me a the gift of being reborn, to show others what is possible for their own lives. - I resisted life for years. With everything going on in the last year with work slowly going away and coming back. The fewer times I get to see my family and just the uncertainty surrounding the day to day life I’ve had a lot of anxiety and depression overwhelm my life and my mind. Some days I don’t even feel like trying or even making an effort. The more I talk to friends and peers it appears I’m not alone and that we all are dealing with different mental health problems as a result of how drastic our lives have changed since February.
