This Indian summer has made our Autumn veg grow very well. The brassicas were planted under fleece at the begining of August and have escaped the ravages of cabbage white butterflies. We have been cutting Red Russian Kale and lettuce for several weeks already. Late planted runner and dwarf French beans are still harvesting heavily and are just as delicate as mid summer crops. Im not sure they liked the wind very much and a hard frost will finish them off. #HomeGrown #ShopLocal #FarmShopsUK - @parrettbrand on Instagram

Wellness Wednesday Raise your hand if you have tried fennel! Fennel can be considered a vegetable and an herb, due to it’s wide range of nutritional and healing benefits. It has a crunchy and slightly sweet licorice flavor. Let’s learn a bit about this interesting plant. . ~ Fennel is rich in folate, vitamin C, magnesium, cobalt, and iron, and essential oils that contain powerful anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. . ~ Fennel has properties that prevent and stop the formation of gas in the stomach. It is excellent for indigestion and is used as a natural antacid, helping to reduce acidity and inflammation in the digestive tract. It also helps proper absorption and assimilation of nutrients from food. . ~ Fennel contains an anti-inflammatory phytonutrient called anethole that blocks inflammation and the mutation of regular cells into cancer cells! . ~ Fennel has the ability to ease and regulate menstruation by regulating hormonal action in the body. . ~ Fennel has historically been used by nursing women to help stimulate consistent milk flow. . ~ It is also known to strengthen hair, prevent hair loss, improve memory, and relax the body. . HOW TO USE FENNEL: ~ Slice or chop and use raw in salads, for snacking, or add to a fresh pressed juice. . ~ Roast the bulb or add to soups or vegetable dishes. . ~ The fronds can be used in salads or for garnish. . ~ The seeds can be chewed after a meal to enhance digestion and freshen breath. They can also be used as a medicinal tea by steeping in hot water for 10 minutes. . #fennel #lifechangingfoods #herb #vegetable #fresh #medicinal #menstruation #nursing #cancerfighter #wellthysoul #rev60 #medicalmedium @medicalmedium - @health.coach.kristen on Instagram

Ginseng’s first recorded history dates back to 100 A.D. where it was said to be exclusively cultivated for royalty. Christened as “Panax (greek for cure all”) the traditional belief that Ginseng could boost both mental and physical health as well as immunity was so strong that it became one of the most sought after herbs in the ancient world as the original nootropic. Ginsenosides are the main active compounds in Ginseng that give it its powerful nootropic effects. While most ginseng supplements contain just under 5% ginsenosides, Toniiq ginseng contains over 80% to ensure the most potent levels of support for energy enhancement, mental performance, and focus. Garlic (Allium sativum) Nothing beats the taste of home-grown garlic! It is one of the easiest crops to grow – and can be stored for year-round use in the kitchen. Although garlic can be planted in the spring (especially soft-neck varieties in the warmer climates of the South) – the best time to plant hardneck garlic in the Midwest is in the fall. Planting in the fall allows the garlic bulbs to get off to a good start – and although they go dormant during the winter months – they spring back to life and make for a great harvest in late June to early July of the following year. For us here in the Midwest and for most of the Northern states – the best time to plant garlic is in mid to late September or the first week of October. #agriculturalfacts#agriculture #agricultureindia #garlic #india - @agri.buddy on Instagram
