“Whatever makes you feel the sun from the inside out, chase that.” Here’s a slightly off center photo of me that I almost didn’t post because I didn’t like the way I looked. But you know what, screw fear. Sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t try creative things in front of the camera, that I’m better suited behind it because I’m no model, what right do I have. I’ll avoid showing my face a lot or I’ll make sure the shot is taken from a good distance, which often times is just to show off the landscape. But sometimes it’s because I’ve convinced myself no one cares about seeing me in frame. I’m too short, not skinny enough, not pretty enough. But this shot was taken because I saw the light rays hitting the trail as I walked by and thought it would be a great spot for a photo. And so this is me, posing with all my 5’2” frame, slightly out of shape from the stress of this year, smiling in a sun ray. Because creativity comes in any form you want it to. So here’s my reminder to anyone else who battles the voices in your head of what others may think. Screw the fear and opinions that don’t matter. So I’d be lying if 2020 had been an easy one, and I don’t mean to be getting all reflective here, what with a third of the year still to go, but bear with me here. It kinda feels like the year is teaching me something but I just can’t put my finger on what it actually is. Sounds weird huh? It feels that the years of work making the business what it is really had paid off, I mean, it’s helped me tell the wedding stories of quite literally some of the best humans around, no joke! And do you know what, those amazing humans are what’s making this crazy weird time so much easier to cope with, so this is a big shout out to my couples. Literally every single one of them has been unbelievably flexible, and from the off, working with me with regards to availability for re-arranging their awesome wedding day. It’s meant that every single wedding has been able to smoothly shift to next year and I’m just sat here feeling unbelievably grateful at the moment. So I think what it’s taught me, is that all the behind the scenes work put in, which I always hoped would pay off to attract such awesome couples totally does, and to really keep pushing forward no matter what. So keep your eyes peeled, because there’s quite a bit in the pipeline over here, woop! I absolutely love these ages. Three and five ❤️ No more buggies, nappies and high chairs. They run ahead and climb trees, chatting away, collecting treasure then return for a hand squeeze or a reassuring cuddle 😍 I know there’s a time when they’re so little where you feel like you might never feel like you again. It takes so long just to leave the house, you’re doing everything one handed and you’re in a permanent fog of tiredness. Then, before you know it, you’re here. We were heartbroken when we heard about the fires that ravaged California’s Big Basin Park. But we were also heartened by the outpouring of concern for the future of redwood forests 🌲 The filmmakers behind GIANTS RISING — an upcoming Redford Center Fiscal Sponsorship doc about redwoods — were supposed to be filming in the park the week the fires hit. Fortunately, they captured footage earlier in the year that park staff may be able to use as a baseline for tracking recovery. The good news is that these trees are tough. For my 29th birthday I really wanted to backpack 29 miles. Ive never backpacked before. Things Ive learned on my first backpacking trip: 1. Get a pack that fits. If you dont, youll resort to shoving any excess clothing you may have into your shorts to fill out the spaces between you and your pack. 2. Rattle snakes will warn you when youre too close. But even then, youre too fucking close. 3. Just because you CAN carry 2 days worth of water in the hopes of avoiding drinking stream water, doesnt mean you should. 4. Maps become outdated quicker than freeze-dried meals. 5. Bring a machete. If confused, see lesson 4. 6. Coffee tastes better with a side of nature 7. Blackberry bushes will make you bleed your own blood. And do so unregretably, because theyre sweet and can get away with it. Things I already knew but were reinforced: 1. Ticks can roam on your body for 2 days before cashing in. 2. Being outdoors does wonders for mental health. 3. So does challenging yourself physically. 4. Damn, Im pale. I dont know how many miles we actually did, but it didnt matter. I wanted to challenge myself in a way that took me out of the mindset Ive had for the past few months. I wanted to be consumed by something other than current events. And I was. So, it was a success. - @awe_brie on Instagram

Was macht ihr eigentlich während langen Autofahrten? Wir fahren gerade zurück nach Hause, wobei fahren schon übertrieben klingt, denn die meiste Zeit tuckern wir von einem Stau in den nächsten. Wer hätte das auch ahnen können, so am Freitag Nachmittag 🤔😳 Nachdem es in der Schweiz noch recht flüssig lief (und ich durfte wieder meinen neuen Perso NICHT an der Grenze zeigen!! MULTIPASS 😓), hoppen wir in Deutschland von der A5 auf die A6 auf die A67 um die Staus zu umfahren und stehen dann trotzdem wieder drin 🤣 Zur Zeit hören wir den Podcast #gemischteshack auf der Hinfahrt #mamalauda - zeitweise Spotify, aber auch mal Radio wie zB Radio Zürichsee 🙈. Fall is here- Lets FALL in love❤️ Dear you, Fall is upon us and this beautiful season brings not only the awesome opportunity to enjoy numerous warming drinks, stews and hot baths- no, one of the true blessing it brings us is the power of LETTING GO. Of allowing ourself to soften, to retreat and to shed that which is no longer serving us. Whether Summer is all about action and heat, Autumn is naturally windy and cold and a perfect opportunity to start going inside (literally). If we embrace this wonderful season as a reason to slow down a little and FALL into the embrace of Mother Earth we will be guided by Nature- ie going to rest when it gets dark, eating more warming and grounding foods such as root veggies, ginger and cardemom etc. This is the season of VATA (according to Ayurveda) and its element is air which is all about change and transitions! And look around you: not only are the temperature dropping like crazy our entire planet is constantly going through daily shifts with new info from everywhere, so I cant emphasise enough how VITAL it is for your wellness of mind body and spirit: to make sure you ground yourself by slowing down, taking the time out to reflect, do some yoga and some meditation. catch up with lovely friends, read lovely books and above all keep WARM. Speaking of grounding... My Wednesday evening yoga class has a new home: UGLY DUCK studio on Tanner street in Bermondsey HURRAH!! Sessions will be in person, candle lit and costs £15 unless you bring a friend then its £10 each.
