UNA TUMBA INKA EN SANTIAGO💀 Quilicura fue habitada por personas desde mucho antes de la llegada del español, y un ejemplo de lo anterior es el sitio arqueológico llamado Quilicura 1. Hoy nos centraremos en la denominada tumba 5, que cuenta con valiosa información al ser excavada con metodología arqueológica ya que los dueños del lugar avisaron sobre éste hallazgo el 2014 (gracias 😍), lo que permitió un buen estudio contextual, de registro y análisis posteriores. A partir de los estudios sabemos que el lugar tiene al menos 3 ocupaciones. Una de los primeros grupos agrícolas (de casi 2000 años atrás), la ocupación de periodo Inka (que nosotr@s llamamos tardío) y una del siglo XVIII. La tumba💀🦴 corresponde al período Inka, de hace unos 600 años atrás. Es de una mujer que murió cuando tenía entre 20 a 35 años😔. Diversos análisis revelan que su dieta alimentaria fue de maiz🌽, y otros vegetales silvestres y domésticos. También comió carne🥩. Otra cosa interesante es que las ofrendas consisten principalmente en cerámica⚱️ de distintos orígenes, en su mayoría locales, algunas con influencia Inka Diaguita y en menor medida algunas producidas fuera, quizás de Perú😲, destacando 2 keros, que son unos vacitos🥛 con alto poder simbólico para el Inka. En éstos se tomaba chicha de maíz, los análisis botánicos realizados 🧫🧪🧬🔬 lo corroboran y también nos cuentan que en las otras vasijas hubo maiz, papas, quinoa, aji y diversas legumbres 🌽🌶️🥔. Lo anterior es muy importante ya que éste entierro (y las piezas del puzzle 🧩) estarían dando cuenta de la forma que tuvo el Inca (o el tawantinsuyu) de relacionarse con algunas poblaciones locales de Santiago (relaciones variadas) donde los rituales mortuorios (funerales⚰️) pudieron ser una instancia de sociabilización para establecer alianzas y vínculos, considerando que en el Mundo Andino la reciprocidad y él culto a los antepasados es muy importante, donde las comilonas y la chicha jugaron un rol central y por ende las vasijas que contenían estos productos. Tupure es un antiguo pueblo agropecuario, ubicado en pleno corazón del Municipio Democracia, capital de la Parroquia Avaria. . Tuve la oportunidad de visitar este cálido pueblo tomando la vía de Bariro-Tupurito-La Peña-Tupure, una ruta de impresionantes paisajes, donde la serranía de las copas destacan en todo el recorrido. Al llegar a Tupure, lo primero que me llamó la atención fue sus casas, en su mayoría de adobe con grandes ventanales. . Su aridez contrastan con las altas montañas que la rodean, con altitudes superiores a los 1000msnm, excelente lugar para la producción cafetalera (queda pendiente conocer sus cumbres), al mismo tiempo el cardenal y el turpial son de la fauna más resaltante, nunca había visto tantos en un solo lugar. . ~| The 1st Mongolian Invasion of Japan | Fall, 1274 |~ *All Photos were taken by me* The invasions of Japan by the Mongolian empire in 1274 and 1281 were destructive and brutal. Both invasion attempts brought the Empire of Japan closer to destruction, decimating resources and the ranks of the legendary Samurai. Although Japan started the war between the two societies, supported by large numbers of Samurai warriors, the sheer weight and brutality of the Mongol warriors eventually pushed the Samurai to their limits. The run up to the massive invasion was quite simple; in 1266, during the conquest to take China, the Mongol ruler Kublai Khan paused his campaign to send a message to the Emperor of Japan, addressing him as “the ruler of a small country,” and advised the Emperor to pay tribute to him, or else. For six years, the Khan sent massages to Japan five times, all of his messengers coming back without an answer; the Japanese Shogun would not allow the messengers to even land on the main island. In 1271, Kublai Khan conquered China, and declared himself the first Emperor of China’s Yuan Dynasty. As a grandson of the grandmaster Genghis Khan, Kublai controlled much of China, Korea, and of course Mongolia. The Khans now ruled an area from Hungary in the West to the Pacific coast of Siberia in the east. The Khans of the Mongol Empire did not tolerate impudence from their neighbours, and Kublai ordered a strike on Japan as early as 1272. However he was strongly advised by his counsel it’s to wait for a large fleet of warships and more men to be assembled. He agreed, and what a large force it was. The Mongols eventually were able to field over 600 ships of varying sizes, and over 40,000 troops. Japan, was only able to field a weakening force of 10,000 from all the Samurai clans. From the port of Masan in South Korea, the armada set sail into the Sea of Japan. The first islands the Mongols would seize were Tsushima and Iki, halfway between the main islands of Japan and the tip of South Korea. The overwhelming forces quickly overcame the desperate Japanese resistance, slaughtering 300 people. PART 3 - ‘As the waste crisis narrows and we start to look at our habits and how much waste we are creating, it’s equally as important to start questioning how this waste can actually be reduced and reused responsibly. On average only 30% of plastic bottles are being recycled, with 1.5 billion being used per day. So we find ourselves at a cross roads, and our reduce, reuse, recycle motto may be falling short as 70% of these bottle are being rejected and dumped into yet another overwhelmingly large pile of waste. Out of all the post consumer waste that we might put into our recycling bins including plastic, glass, metal, paper and cartons that “Typically, 50% of what you put in your recycling bin is never recycled. Its sorted and thrown out,” said Tom Szaky, CEO of @terracycle, a recycling company. This is partly due to user error, a common problem which occurs when people place un-recyclable materials into recycling bins. The error of this recycling issue, goes far wider than just plastic, even with the most conscious consumer washing bottles and jars, crushing cartons and breaking down boxes. We might sort these items into their designated bins or bags, but once we lose sight of the recyclables, the rest of the process is an abstraction. With this in mind, and the awareness that plastic is our largest pollutant, the question is; what can we do with this plastic on the other side of it’s intended singular life cycle? And how can we make make it more functional with the knowledge that it has a seriously sturdy and long life span? There are some very clever cookies around the world, entrepreneurs, who are finding all kinds of wonderful ways to turn bottles into construction objects such as fence posts, bricks, flooring, tiles, boats and more. With even complete houses being constructed from the use of plastic bottles.
