Dont practice Missing - dont practice pulling. ⠀⠀ Heres why: Every rep trains your brain. What you proactive is what youll do. ⠀⠀ As you learn more about neuroscience and how the brain learns youll realize that practicing missing and pulling can have real-world consequences. Its training your brain to miss. ⠀⠀ Thats why pro fighters always practice with contact, whether its on a focus pad, on a bag or sparring. They always make contact. They may not be able to explain the neuroscience behind it but some very intuitive trainers figured this out years ago. ⠀⠀ Making contact trains the brain to calibrate distance, angles, balance which develops accuracy, and precision. ⠀⠀ REFRAME: Now watch most self-defense demos and you will notice the majority of attacks and counters actually miss their targets on purpose. Theres a reason for this of course, its because of the risk to the role-player. ⠀⠀ I first observed this in 1980, I loved boxing and noticed how so many martial art movements never made contact. To solve this problem I put together a make-shift suit and tested scenario ideas for over a decade. ⠀⠀ Then I spent 5-years designing HIGH GEAR.
