A place—the roof where we live right now, your here could be now at the moment but soon change to then after moving out. A person becomes a home. A name turns into a song. 2019 was someone I saw a future with, but became someone I wish I could love longer but couldnt. I find it funny how we associate a lot of meanings to things, to words. And these meanings change all the time. This piece is an attempt to capture that idea. _________________________________ The idea for this piece came to me when I was talking to an old friend whom I recently just reconnected with. She asked during the conversation, Where are you now? But I knew what she really meant was How are you? or Whats everyone been up to? Then similarly, the hours we spent talking on the phone meant I missed you. The words for the piece soon came after the long reflection of the other words and things in my life and what they meant to me—following that train of thought. Wonder // Have you ever wondered how truthful someone was in the past? Even though I’ve let it go, sometimes I can’t help to think back on all those things I genuinely believed in. Sometimes I have those days where I long to be as believing and trusting as I was back then. Maybe I shouldn’t feel that way, but I believe it’s okay I do. I know that if I had the chance to choose whether to erase that experience or keep it in my memories, I would choose the latter. I think I’ve become a way better person and grew in positive ways.
