Currently in my 3rd reverse diet in my fitness journey! I started counting macros about 4 years ago but wasnโ€™t consistent. Followed many fed diets like whole30 & was eating low carb, low protein, and too many fats. โฃ โ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโฃ From the left that was my first progress photo I sent to my current coach, @sdangerfit โ€ฆ September, 2018!!โฃ I came to her doing an hour+ of cardio a day, barely lifting and under eating. I came to her yo-yo dieting & new I was overtraining. At that time I was doing competitive cheer, school cheer and running. Although my goal was to lose fat & tone up, a reverse diet was NEEDED to restore metabolism, and focus on building muscle so when I did lose some fat, โ€œtone upโ€ there would be visible muscle. I reversed / got up to maintenance for 8 months & began my first cut spring / into summer 2019.โฃ โ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโฃ Middle photo was taken at the end of my โ€œslight surplusโ€ last February so 2020. I had reversed, maintained than wanted to build more muscle so entered about my maintenance at that time eating around 1750-1900- losely tracking. I stayed there for almost 6 months & built a GOOD amount of muscle!โฃ โ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโฃ Last photo on the far right side is me NOW mid September, 2 months into reverse and not quite up to maintenance. My plan is to stay here for the fall and into the winter most til April ish then possibly do a quick cut or a longer and slower approach like I did this past one! I am not sure if I will enter a slight surplus again but time will tell. IT IS possible to gain muscle at maintenance it is just harder and takes more time. โฃ โ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโฃ Luckily, I had a lean, 4โ€™11 frame. I have always had that athletic build so I tend to gain muscle quickly. โฃ โ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโฃ Within these 3 photos I have only lost 8 lbs but have gained A LOT of muscle & confidence !!!โฃ Going from the girl that was scared to lift weights, started using 5 lb DBs to now bench pressing 35 lbs! โฃ I have more lean muscle mass and a whole new body comp!!! Doing 1 day a week of cardio, 5 days of strength training, fueling my body properly AND eating MORE!!! 5 years ago I wore whatever I could find that โ€œfitโ€ and thought made me look โ€œthinnerโ€ (there is no such thing btw๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฃ). . Iโ€™ve worked hard from the inside out and building up that confidence I really lacked. It can be a slow process but know that totally ok (small steps). ๐Ÿ–Gym Breakfast Bowls๐Ÿณ I developed this recipe because I wanted to come up with ways to include more vegetables in my breakfasts. Itโ€™s hard enough for me to eat vegetables at normal hours but in the morning dude? Forget about it. I know I should be eating them more though so unfortunately for me it has to be done. โฃโฃ โฃโฃ In this recipe there is zucchini and spinach to help increase vegetable consumption. Whenever I include vegetables in a meal I think of what kind of fat I can include to make them taste better. Sausage is a great way to add to the flavors of vegetables. โฃ โฃ It has a distinct and overpowering flavor so it was an easy choice for this dish. I also wanted to help mute the texture of the zucchini so I paired it with sweet potatoes to change up the monotony that would have been plain zucchini. Hard boiled eggs are my go to egg for meal prep. They last better than other methods.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ On the weight loss side I included a higher zucchini:sweet potato ratio and used turkey sausage. The weight gain side has a bit more potatoes, more pork sausage, and more eggs. More calories are needed if youโ€™re looking to grow. โฃโฃ โฃโฃ P.s. you get 5 half eggs by cutting eggs in half and putting them into the dish. This is a meal prep recipe there is more than one dish being constructed. The other half is going in a different dish. If you make an odd number of meals and are left with a half of an egg left over just eat it.
