If you’ve never had a Cuban sandwich, oh my dear you are missing out on one of life’s greatest pleasures. I gifted myself a panini press for no real reason other than I wanted one, and needless to say, I certainly do not regret it. Cubanos are my favorite kind of sandwich and are relatively easy to put together. Just nab some fluffy white bread (Cuban, of course, if you can find it). I use Italian or French bread since Cuban usually isn’t available around these parts. Those are a little more dense but it does the trick. Slice the bread lengthwise and then layer it up (bottom to top) with Swiss cheese, smoked ham, sauceless pulled pork or sliced cooked pork tenderloin, dill pickles, and more Swiss cheese, with mustard on the underside of the top piece of bread. Butter the outside of the bread and slap dat sammie in your hot sandwich press (or between two hot cast iron skillets - thanks @justvima for that one) and toast until the cheese is melty deliciousness, the sandwich is warmed through, and the bread has slightly grilled. Serve with potato chips and try not to faint from the vision of heaven sitting before you. You won’t be sorry. - @irisdeadlifts on Instagram
