EL CUATRO OJOS (Phaenicophilus palmarum). . . Esta elegante tanagra se encuentra desde el nivel del mar hasta las altas montañas (hasta 2,500 metros); en bosques secos, húmedos y pinares, además de plantaciones de café y cacao así como zonas urbanas. Está distribuida en toda la isla excepto en la península de Tiburón de Haití, donde habita su cercano pariente, el cuatro ojos cabeza gris (Phaenicophilus poliocephalus). A pesar de ser tan común, el cuatro ojos no deja de merecer nuestra admiración cada vez que podemos darle un vistazo, ya que es verdaderamente un ave hermosa. Se trata de una tanagra robusta, de unos 18 centímetros y pico fuerte. Su parte superior va del amarillo al verde olivo; la nuca es gris y la cabeza, negro lustroso. Alrededor de los ojos tiene dos manchas blancas incluyendo una grande sobre el ojo que dan la apariencia de que el ave tiene cuatro ojos; de ahí su nombre común en español así como en creole haitiano (Kat Je). El cuatro ojos generalmente se ve en parejas o pequeños grupos familiares buscando comida, a menudo conversando entre sí mediante su suave llamado chip, o bien pi-aaau, que recuerda al maullido de un gatito quejándose. Se le considera mayormente insectívoro pero tiene una dieta bien variada que podría ser la clave de su éxito. . **TRIP REPORT** UNGARIE June 2019 Grey #mistletoe is a feature of this site and it was in full flower, attracting numerous honeyeaters. Windy conditions favour catching larger birds and our trainees got a lot of valuable experience with handling a series of challenging species including Noisy Miners (18), Blue-faced Honeyeaters (4), Apostlebirds (2), Eastern Rosellas (2), Bluebonnets (3) and a snappy Pied Butcherbird. A male Variegated (purple-backed) Fairy-wren and a surprise Brown Honeyeater provided some relief. Pictures by Richard Allen - Blue Bonnet parrot male and female (note white underwing bar), blue faced honeyeater and apostlebird. Chercán (Troglodytes Aedon)🔊 🍃Es fácil de identificar por su tamaño pequeño con cola levantada y su grito áspero y fuerte. De movimientos inquietos y poco vuelo donde se desplaza principalmente entre las ramas o tupida vegetación. 🍃Comportamiento Solitario o en Pareja. 🍃Con 2 o 3 posturas al año, el Chercán busca para anidar un lugar con entrada oscura donde el nido se acomoda al lugar escogido donde pondrá 4 a 7 huevos de fondo rosado muy manchado con tonos rojos a café oscuro. Tamaños de 17 mm. x 13 mm. app. 🍃Es típicamente insectívoro: así lo indica su piquito relativamente largo y delgado. Helluw, ein Vogel von vielen die ich die letzten Tage fotografiert habe. Ich bin monentan am überlegen wie ich wieder mehr Struktur in mein Alltag bekomme. Heute ist so der Tag was ich mir von Anfang an gedachte habe das es passiert wenn keine Schule ist. Viel zulang wach gewesen und dafür viel zu kurz geschlafen aber trz. über 11 Uhr gekommen und somit ein Tag an dem ich nichts auf die Reihe bekomme 😩 Was ich eig. vermeiden wollte 🤷🏼♀️ Werde aber meine übermüdung dafür nutzen heute Abend “normal” ins Bett zugehen und morgen wie wenn Schule wäre aufzustehen. Bzw. nicht ganz da ich zu meiner Schule 1 1/2 std. fahre, die Zeit werde ich für Sport und in ruhe frühstücken verwenden. Etwas das ich normalerweiße nicht habe☺️ Hoffe das hilft wieder etwas Struktur in mein Tag zubekommen. — Geschichte des Tages: Wie ich heute früh den Roller hoch gemacht habe, sahsen die Vögel schon auf den Zaun. Habe die so etwas beobachtet und aufeinmal springt so eine Katze hoch. Allerdings hatte diese Katze nicht genügend schwungen und ist nur mit den vorderen Pfötchen über den Zaun gekommen und hat mit den Kopf über den Zaun geguckt. Sah mega süß aus. Den Vögel ist nichts passiert, aber alle Vögel haben die Katze angeschaut. Glaube wenn Vögel lachen könnten, hätten sie die Katze ausgelacht. 🐱🐦 Die Katze hat noch ein paarmal versucht über den Zaun zukommen hat es aber nicht geschafft. — QOTD: Habt ihr momentan eine Struktur im Alltag? — Vany❤️ - @traumweltchen on Instagram

- One reason passenger pigeons went extinct so quickly is because they were specifically adapted for living in giant flocks. They collected food communally and raised young communally. As they started being hunted, they no longer had enough pigeons for these behaviours and went extinct.
