Vaso de Jacarandá Violeta! 24 x 10cm Conhecida como kingwood por seu acesso ter sido restrito as cortes a séculos atrás, o Jacarandá Violeta, uma espécie de Dalbergia, especificamente a cearencis, possui diversas outras características que a tornam especial. É uma madeira densa, que não bóia na água, que permite um acabamento finíssimo chegando a ficar espelhada quando utilizado uma lixa acima de 1200. Ele também se caracteriza por ter cerne e alburno, ou seja, um miolo mais escuro onde pode se identificar os anéis de crescimento e uma parte branca e externa. No cerne é possível identificar seus anéis correspondentes a idade da árvore. Toda a árvore cresce assim, mas no caso do Jacarandá Violeta isso é muito visível, no entanto seus anéis não seguem um padrão vertical como os pinheiros, eles são mas orgânicos pelo fato dos troncos serem irregulares. Essa Dalbergia foi muito explorada no passado e hoje se encontra ameaçada de extinção, sua madeira foi muito utilizada para a fabricação de móveis. Ela também é muito cobiçada por luthiers para a fabricação de instrumentos musicais, ou parte de instrumentos como braço de guitarras, violões e baixos, bocais de clarinete, corpos de violão e etc... How has bushcraft changed you? 🔥 . The other day, while sitting in traffic alone in my car, I noticed a ‘V’ of Canada geese flying overhead, due south. I found myself saying aloud, “Goodbye, Geese! Have a good winter! See you next year!” Then I thought to myself, “How odd. 🤔I’m talking to geese!” Then I realized that *this* is what bushcraft has done to me! . In the most wonderful of ways, it has changed me. It has brought me closer to nature, when I never even realized that I needed it or that this relationship was something missing from my life. I now notice the smells of trees and see signs of animal life so much more, even in the city. I notice how bird activities change from season to season. I feel much richer for it. . In bushcraft, we *take* from the natural environment. We use it and create from it heat, shelter, tools, containers, furniture, etc. On the surface, it may look like bushcrafters don’t care about protecting the environment, because we’re taking from its resources. But there is definitely something about getting my own hands dirty and ‘taking’ from Mother Nature that has made me acutely aware of just how much she is giving and I am receiving. And it leaves me filled with gratitude and a desire to do my part to make sure the land continues to be healthy and rich enough to continue to give. . Use what youve got! Went for an amazing hike in my backyard. Its a forest attached to the #beaverriver and was one of our most favourite hikes. We got turned around and then found some Usnea and Garlic Mustard. Usnea is a lung tonic used for pneumonia and lung infections as well as an immune booster. Spring herbs like garlic mustard are nutritious and bitter and were a lovely addition to our frittata tonight. DE LOS DULCES A BASE DE FRUTAS EN LA DULCERÍA CRIOLLA MARGARITEÑA En la dulcería tradicional margariteña el papelón era el edulcorante utilizado, hoy día lo es el azúcar, salvo en aquellos dulces a base de frutas en donde la presencia del papelón es indispensable. Con el nombre de conserva se conoce en Margarita a todo dulce a base de frutas o semillas, de consistencia dura y de forma romboidal. Bocadillo es una preparación también a base de frutas pero de consistencia más blanda y de forma rectangular. Turrón es similar a la conserva en cuanto a la forma, pero de consistencia más pastosa. (...) LECHOSA: Se prepara de varias formas: dulce en tajadas, conservas, etc. Es el ingrediente principal típico dulce margariteño conocido como piñonate, fabricado en la localidad de Fuentidueño. Receta de unas pocas familias, entre ellas la Villarroel. En líneas generales, se prepara de la siguiente manera: “Se ralla la lechosa verde pequeña conocida como “monera”, incluyendo la semilla, la cual le da un sabor especial al dulce. Esta masa se llama “corcha” y se cocina a fuego lento con melado de papelón y azúcar. Se bate constantemente. En esta fase del cocimiento se le agrega concha rallada de naranja cajeta. Cuando el dulce se pone duro, se pica en panelas de unos 10 x 6 x 4 cms, las cuales se colocan por pareja y se envuelven en cachipo de plátanos, siendo esta la presentación más frecuente, pues también se envasa en perolas, pero entonces el dulce es más flojo (pastoso)”. La producción de este dulce típico de Margarita apenas abastece el mercado local. Ya en el siglo pasado Level hablaba de la industria del piñonate: “(…) y varios artículos de confitería que también exportan, si bien en pequeñas cantidades, como el piñonate, turrón en que la naranja y el casabe son los principales materiales; la barriga de vieja, lo mismo que el anterior, pero, en vez de naranja, coco.” Observamos que hoy día el piñonate no lleva casabe tal como lo afirma Level, ni la barriga de vieja lleva coco en su composición. ¿Habrán cambiado en el tiempo las recetas de estos dos dulces margariteños?.” Fuente: Historia y Antología de la Comida Margariteña de Angel Félix Gómez Continúa 👇 - @romeroatelierculinario on Instagram

“Using traditional craft processes such as feltmaking, weaving and papermaking I create sculptural and installation work that serve as meditations on trauma, memory and the legacy of emotional turmoil inherited from past generations. The theory that anxieties and traumas are embedded in a person’s DNA and are then passed down to the next generation is a major motivation in my artwork. Using repetitious processes such as feltmaking allows me to physically engage with and meditate on the concepts I am working with. Material exploration is the starting point for all of my work and plays a key role in building the conceptual backing of each piece. There is a Sisyphean element to both the physical labor and the conceptual ideas. Included in the ecoartspace fall 2020 online+billboards show juried by Eleanor Heartney: Nancy Winship Milliken Pasture Song, 2018 re-claimed cello bow hair (horse hair), netting, wood 15 x 17 x 1 feet The music of the pasture is linked to music of the cello, from the summer symphony of crickets and grasshoppers rubbing their abdomen with their textured legs, to the string quartets and orchestras playing in symphony halls. Thousands of re-claimed cello bundles have been hand tied to netting presenting movement in the wind, loosening the material from its former task as cello bows allowing the horse hair to play in the breeze, closer to the way it moved on the horse. Standing out from the rest is a comprehensive group show curated by Lidewij (Li) Edelkoort (@lidewijedelkoort) and her longtime business partner Philip Firmano. La Manufacture: A Labour of Love, running from September 9 to November 8, surveys the so-called neo-materialist movement.
