I’m present with every fibre of my being and that silent dialogue between me and the audience is simply magical.»⁠⠀ •⁠⠀ Giulia Tonelli comes from Italy. She graduated from the Balletto di Toscana and the Ballet School of the Vienna State Opera. After her first engagement at the Vienna State Opera, she danced from 2002 to 2010 with the Royal Ballet of Flanders in Antwerp and from 2004 as a demi-soloist. There she danced «Giselle» (Petipa) as well as solo roles in choreographies of Forsythe, Balanchine, Kylián, Haydée and Spuck. She has been a member of the Ballett Zürich since the 2010/11 season, where she has performed ballets by Spoerli, Goecke, McGregor, Lee, Forsythe, Kylián and Balanchine. She danced Julia in Christian Spucks «Romeo und Julia», Lena in Spucks «Leonce und Lena» and Betsy in «Anna Karenina». In Alexei Ratmanskys «Schwanensee» reconstruction she danced in the Pas de trois and she also performed in Forsythes «Quintett» and Spucks «Messa da Requiem». Other highlights include «Emergence» by Crystal Pite and Gretchen in Edward Clugs «Faust - Das Ballett». During the «Junge Choreografen» she presented the works «Mind Games» and «Klastos» together with Mélissa Ligurgo. In 2013 she was awarded the Giuliana Penzi Prize. I think that the word “yet” is the most underutilized word for people with anxiety. We tell ourselves we haven’t met our soulmate. We say we’re stuck with debt and suck at savings. We say we’re out of work, our job has furloughed/fired us, or we have no idea what’s going to happen with our job. We say we’re not in shape, or 20lbs overweight with no idea what to do. We say we’re not successful. My friends, the answer is one simple word: “Yet.” As long as you have the belief in yourself that one day you can and will... and one day things will get better, then all you have to do is qualify those sentences with “YET.” I’m not a millionaire yet. I haven’t met the love of my life yet. I don’t have my dream job yet. Reframe your thinking in a more optimistic way by repeating those sentences to yourself morning, noon, and night. Give yourself permission to be patient with what’s coming to you and the process.Give yourself credit and give yourself love. I can officially call myself a registered nurse! I took my NCLEX on Tuesday and passed after 75 questions! It was definitely a stressful test and I totally doubted myself, even though both 100 question UWorld assessment tests said I had a very high chance of passing. I am still in awe of all that I was able to learn in one short year and I am so blessed to be a part of one of the most humbling professions. I am so excited to be able to start seriously applying for jobs and I am praying that I will be able to get a job in a NICU, although I will be happy to get any nursing job with how impacted nursing is in my area. I will be heading to Disneyland to celebrate soon and then I will be off-roading with my fiancé and friends for over a week!
