Just some random things on my mind: In 18 years as an entrepreneur I have never felt being a female entrepreneur was harder than being a male in business- hard work knows no gender I’ve never asked for nor desired any preferential treatment in any facet of my life. You can’t benefit from being a woman in one area- then get pissed about it the next I’ve always worked as hard or outworked anyone- man or woman- your work equals your results & respect I don’t have to post about working late or grinding to get my shit done. People don’t care about the time- they care about the result I will never attend any bullshit conference that tries to pump me full of woo woo and fru fru feel good shit and doesn’t teach me tactical operations to win by people that have actually accomplished shit Im exhausted hearing people talk about what they are gonna do- instead, I want to be excited for what they are doing I refuse to be around people that want to strap an anchor to me- if your friends don’t want you to fly- they are not your friends I think it’s absurdly ridiculous what people are offended by or cry wolf over- all the people I know are too busy doing big shit to complain. ~ “Men’s arms, wtf. It’s nasty. Women’s arms aren’t vascular. Looks gross. Women with masculinity are disgusting.” ~ These are just a few of the comments I’ve received recently. I know I shouldn’t let it get to me, but these particular words do hit home. A few years ago, after watching me climb, two first-time female climbers at my gym walked out after loudly declaring they never wanted their arms to look like mine. It was such a sad experience and it’s stuck with me ever since; to think that these girls had possibly given up on an amazing sport because appearance was such a concern. But it makes sense. There is so much pressure to look a certain way, while body shaming and bullying are unfortunately way too common. But you know what...forget that! We don’t exist to please anybody else. Our bodies aren’t objects to be judged by looks, they’re designed to function and do glorious things! My arms give me the ability to climb steep cliffs, hoist heavy sails, paraglide off mountain peaks, and give my friends the biggest hugs! I am grateful everyday to be healthy and strong! If someone doesn’t like that, it’s really their issue. And if anyone else out there has been judged or shamed or feels insecure, I hope you know the problem isn’t you! Keep being you, do the things that make you happy, and love what you’ve got! Life is one big balancing act....One of the biggest life lessons I’ve learned is to let go. One of the best “missteps” in my life has been leaving an abusive marriage with my baby whom I was still breastfeeding at the time, and wasn’t even 18 months old yet. But as it turns out, 2.5 years later, I find myself thriving in the face of so much unknown, uncertainty, and stress . In my darkest moments with post-partum depression/anxiety, PTSD from an abusive marriage, and what felt like my world unraveling. I reached out and did something that felt so uncomfortable and unnatural, I asked for help. Fast forward to today, this pandemic hasn’t hit me in the same way. It’s made me even more grateful for how far I’ve come and reminded me to be compassionate and hold space for those who are just now finding their darkest moments. I’ve had to watch a lot of my patients struggle during this time, and I’m so grateful to be able to help make their bodies feel better, but also to give them love and hope to fight on and find the light. I could have chosen a glam photo that took falling off this pool several times to get a “good shot”. But instead, I’m drawn to this one. Life is messy, and f*cked up. But we are all just having an experience. And I’ve never felt so loved and alive. Let’s come together and help one another. Day 6 of the ZGYM transformation challenge and I feel incredibly motivated for my daily training. I did miss a day this week and on one of the days I didn’t do my second training session because of muscle soreness. Throw-back to the morning before one of my best days ever - winning the Melbourne International overall champion title for the second time in a row and qualifying for the Universe championships in May 2017. 🥰 I often got asked when I was competing why I didn’t lose any colour in my skin or have a diet face. Obviously I have a comp tan in this photo but I always ate boat-loads of food when I was competing. I’m not talking about 6 piddly little servings in those mini containers, I’m talking six extra-large takeaway-sized containers that were so full I’d have to shove the lid down to keep them closed. The first time I ever competed, I didn’t eat a lot and yes I was always hungry and forgetful etc and I did get lean, but I also looked like a scarecrow and had a diet face. So the following season I took a gamble and more than doubled my food intake. I immediately felt so much better, lifted heavier, recovered better, slept better. I still got lean but looked bigger and more full and never had the dreaded diet face again. So I kept increasing my food over and over and eventually figured out that that as long my food was made up of lean proteins and veges, then I could literally eat as much as I wanted. I never stopped having pre and post shakes, always added carbs after I trained, never cheated on my diet, didn’t nibble at other things or have days off etc. I did the exact same thing every day and just increased the portion sizes when I got hungrier. All my confidence on stage came from the fact that I didn’t feel like I had suffered. I still worked hard and put in the effort but when you’re restricting calories you can only work as hard as your energy levels will allow. Everyone talks about “calorie deficit” these days but you will never know what yours is until you can commit to it 100%. And even then your metabolism will keep speeding up so you’ll need to progressively eat more calories anyway, not less. Great problem to have but I do think people spend way too much time talking about the science and over-thinking it than just doing it and seeing what happens. That was my approach to life anyway 🤣 Figure it out as you go along and use your common sense.👏🏻 - @trishyv_wff_pro on Instagram

Grab your carpet square and sit criss-cross applesauce friends..... ▫️ The first time I came to New Orleans in 2013 and was because of my bestie @chelsey.grigsby - I had visited her in LA, we went on the Price Is Right and she won the trip! We lived large and I instantly fell in love with the city. ▫️ The second time was for my 30th bday in 2015. I brought my friends to show them how great this city was and when I had to go back to Oregon, I felt like I left my heart here. ▫️ Then, in 2018, Scott and I came for Halloween and that’s when I asked him to marry me with a Jell-O shot! My parents moved us to live in Arizona when I was 8... I was reluctant because I didnt want to leave friends and family. But being 8 didnt give me much say in the matter we were moving and like always parents do know best. After living there for 3 or so years I fell in love with not only my new home but its people and its natural beauty unlike anything else in the world. We then moved back to the East Coast for some brutal winters. I told myself Id come back one day...today is that day. I decided to take the train, yes the train...a total of 51 hours by train and another 2.5 hours by bus. Ive always had the travel bug (you can blame my parents for that one). Given everything going on in our country I wish everyone could see what I have seen. The beauty of this amazing country, something that we take for granted and completely forget about in our cell phone obsessed lives, rants about things we dont one hundred percent understand and fighting every day with people we should be helping. Im not saying get on the next train and take it all in like I did, but how about take a look out your windows and just look, take it all in, see what beauty you walk past every day whether it be the ocean in the distance, the fall foliage coming around the corner or the park that becomes wonderland in the wintertime when dusted with snow. Had a couple of days like that last week. Days when I think, “There’s no way you can do that. You’re not good enough, smart enough, fast enough, soon enough....etc.” Ugh! The mental mind game is enough to make you want to throw in the towel. But one weak day doesn’t mean that you’re weak. One step backwards doesn’t mean that you aren’t still making forward progress. A day with self doubt and negative self-talk doesn’t mean that you don’t have what it takes. It just means that you’re normal. And as long as we realize that doubt and failure are just speed bumps along the way, and not U-turns, then we can just ride out the turbulence and get back on track momentarily. This is a story of a girl who beats all the odds. She was born with a set of heart defects called the Tetralogy of Fallot. Despite being fatigued and having shortness of breath in almost every occasion (she can’t even ride a bicycle without her skin turning blue), she passed every exam at school and made lots of friends. . After years of countless doctor visits and a major heart surgery performed at 14, she went on and join the marching band, became a fashion model, got into University of Indonesia, got married, got her first degree, raised three children, stayed active in work and charities (also finally learned to ride a bicycle in her 30s), got her second degree, became the head of a company and eventually a grandmother. . OBSeSSEd!!! 🤩 🧊 A word I use to describe two things...1) my trip to Iceland in Winter two years ago and 2) my new ring from @dunejewelry I had made to remind me of that monumental trip! 😔It breaks my heart to think at such a young age many boys and girls, feel pressure to change themselves - that they’re not good enough as is. . . The focus at this young age, or any age at that matter, should be of playing, laughing, exploring, loving, crying, learning meaningful lessons and mistakes, and not about restricting calories, punishing ourselves with exercise, starving ourselves for weight loss and comparing ourselves to photoshopped, posed and unrealistic photos in the media/social media. . . Our bodies care about survival, not vanity. They want to be healthy of course but getting to a very low body fat % doesn’t determine Health; it often times results in lack of.. . . Our bodies are vessels provided to us so we can experience all these luxuries of life - they aren’t meant to be starved, depleted, controlled and despised. . . We think we’ll finally be “happy” if we can just look like the “ideal body” of our modern world..yet when we finally arrive to this goal, we’re still unhappy, if not even less happy, because nothings good enough. We now have Body dysmorphia amongst other physical and mental issues that developed along deprivation road.. . . Happiness, feeling beautiful, confident and fit, is not dictated by our bodies appearance - that’s the facade. It comes as a feeling, from living our life with intuitive movement, balanced eating, sleep, water, sun, relaxation, supportive relationships, playfulness, and more.. . . Some of us had to hit rock bottom within our egotism and had our health stolen from us when trying to be superior and self righteous in our healthy lifestyles, in order to appreciate what true Health and fitness feels like after Recovery. . . Moral of the story: it’s vital to continue creating a new and truly healthful model of health, fitness and self acceptance for the future generations to aspire towards. . .
