February 2019 - welcome Naomi! ‪It has been an outrageously eventful decade (though as my wife points out, it was a third of my life to this point!). It’s a bit wild to think back and recount everything that’s happened since 2010. It feels like I’ve been a million different people since this decade began. Since 2010, I ‪finished college at William & Mary, moved to DC, became a rock climber, completed a masters at Georgetown, became a climbing instructor, worked as a fellow at the FDA, moved to CA, met @charlie.rock, got married, finished my PhD at Cal, started a postdoc at UCSF, and became a dad. ‪And in between all that, I climbed a lot of things and competed in a lot of competitions, played a lot of hockey, tried to continue playing music, read a lot of comics, made some amazing friends, and lived some awesome experiences. Desde antes que yo naciera, mi mamá tenía una súper amiga. Era una de esas amigas que estaban lejos, pero que cada vez que viajábamos a Puerto La Cruz, donde ella vivía, era como si acabaran de verse. De esas amigas que uno crece llamando tía, de las que uno le pide la bendición, de las que de vaina y lo criaron a uno. De esa amistad, que hoy sigue allá en el cielo, me queda de recuerdo el haber crecido con mis primas: Alejandra, Alana, Ariana y Ana Virginia. El recuerdo de haber jodido desde chiquito allá en Lechería y de haber corrido más de una aventura en familia con estas chicas que se han convertido en mujeres extraordinarias y exitosas. De esta foto han pasado al menos 10 años, pero el cariño que les tengo dura para siempre, y de vez en cuando uno mira para atrás con nostalgia, y casi se puede ver la piscina de Aguamarina, las oreo en el muelle, la Casa Club con sus florecitas rojas, y ese olor a sal y a motor de lancha que para mí, es el olor de la infancia. #TBT - @alanenlacasa on Instagram

I remember when my husband @nickwilliams_98 and I first started dating. It was almost 8 years ago. Now, with four years of marriage under our belt and two kids later, I can safely, honestly, and easily say that we have had our fair share of arguments and fights in the past and in the present. Yes, we fight just like everyone else. You see, no relationship is perfect or devoid of conflict. This was Ann’s dream child, a multi-day concert high (8200 feet), in the Sierra, not to be missed! This morning my oldest son, Dylan sent me a text about a new band he discovered and was stoked on. Quick story to encourage you to be kind and gracious to everyone you meet. • Because God placed Tyler Poe in my life at the most pivotal time, I have the relationships I do. I moved to @biolauniversity across the country, new life and new faces everywhere. He befriended me and introduced me to most of the people and relationships I cherish from my time in college. His love of musicals, his ability to relate and encourage shaped me at the time I was really growing. What an amazing example. This loss, although I know he is with his Father he loved and served, reminds me of the preciousness of each day. Like drummer Ryan Seaman (@ryanseaman ), whose current band @idkhow is shooting up the charts. “The first time I saw Flogging Molly was at the Warped Tour in 2000 or 2001. I had never seen anything like it. I was blown away with their energy. A few years later, I was just out of High School and playing drums in The Eyeliners. I found myself sharing a tour bus with Flogging Molly the whole summer together on the Vans Warped Tour. It was a dream come true. We became family. It was non-stop fun with them. One night they had a Conga line and they dragged me out of my bunk to participate while the bus was moving. That was the best summer of my whole life. To this day, they’re still one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. That’s why I was so honored when asked to contribute some of my personal photos from that summer to the Swagger 20th Box Set. One thing I learned from Dave King was to always live in the moment and surround yourself with people who bring you up. Michael was a recluse and was always more comfortable at #Neverland He would of felt right at home being quarantined because it would been what he was used to staying at home for many months at a time without going anywhere. Michael was the King and if they wanted to see him they had to come to him. One day I convinced Michael to come to Miami with me for my birthday weekend. We stayed with Al and Nancy Malnik @kinlam6 who lived closer to Palm Beach than Miami. Michael loved being with Al and Nancy so much that he moved into their house for 6 months. I somehow convinced Michael to leave the house and come with me to #MiamiBeach for a tour of my hood. I showed him where I was Bar mitzvah’d at the EDEN ROC hotel, my yeshiva The Hebrew Academy, my high school Beach High, and where my first kiss took place. I also took him to my favorite Cuban restaurant at that time #David’sCafe. Michael asked me to invite my grandmother who he loved and who lived in Miami Beach to join us. They would speak on the phone for hours and he would ask My Grandma about her entire life but she would spend most of the time telling him about me and my life and how proud she was of me. Michael would always tell me how lucky I was to not only have a Grandma but how lucky I was to be loved by someone so much. He said it inspired him and he felt the same way about his children as she felt about me. Since he didn’t get out much he loved the experience of being in a restaurant doing something normal like ordering off a menu and eating amongst other people. Some people recognized him but assumed he was a Michael Jackson look alike because no one would believe that he would be in a family restaurant eating a great Cuban meal. He ate Cuban food for the first time ever. We had croquetas, Bistec Palomilla, Picadillo, maduro (rice and beans) Jupina, Materva to drink and we topped it off with of course a Mamey Milkshake. Throwback to how we became us! Although we began our journey’s in LA in 2001 and 2003... our paths didn’t cross until 2011. Even though our careers were still flourishing, we both had hit an extremely low point in our personal life. We went on tour in 2011, dug each other out of the dark, and became best friends. We have more in common than we could’ve ever imagine. That friendship developed a love and bond so deep, it was unbreakable. We are now living the dreams we always talked about. A beautiful family and lifestyle, that we never grew up with. And we continue to build our empire with every waking breath. I only share this, to inspire someone who might have lost a little hope. Throwback 22 years to my first ever Miami Winter Conference WMC in 1998. As a young 22 year old DJ I found my way into the iconic Fontainebleau Hotel on South Beach.I was reporting for a local cable TV network in the UK. That day changed my life i was suddenly surrounded by so many of my hero’s some of them feature in this slide show. 1998 was a special time for House music, with tracks such as “Music Sounds Better With You” and “Horny” made their debut off acetate. Both records were then signed and later that year both went on to become number 2 singles in the UK charts. 22 years later I am now working with one of those hero’s.
