The Nelson Farmer’s Market season will kick-off this Saturday, June 13th, 2020 between 9:00am and 1:00pm at Cottonwood Falls Park in Railtown. The first market of the season will include whole food producers selling vegetables and plant starts etc. There will be no other retail vendors or take-away food/meals being sold this Saturday; however, the City will work with local vendors on a phased-in approach to the market season which will see an expanded selection of retailers in the coming weeks. The City would like to remind the public that strict COVID-19 protocols will be in place. The COVID-19 Safety Plan & Protocols for the market can be found at https://www.nelson.ca/821/Nelson-Farmers-Market. We ask that market-goers adhere to the protocols of physical distancing, hand sanitizing and following the directional signage through the market. We also ask patrons to move at a moderate pace through the stalls to ensure other market-goers do not have to wait too long to enter the retail area. The City would like to thank all of the produce vendors who have signed up for the initial market and we look forward to working with you during the market season. This just in from one of our wonderful market traders at Canopy Market and the Real Food Market at Kings Cross.... . Great news for our Kings Cross patrons! Ever since COVID-19 social distancing measures forced us to close our market stalls 4 weeks ago, at the Little Bread Pedlar bakery we have been hard at work trying to find workable ways of bringing our products back to the loyal patrons of our Kings Cross markets. Today, we are very happy to announce that our efforts have paid off, and we are now able to offer our Kings Cross Real Food Market and Canopy Market customers delivery to your homes and workplaces within a 1-mile radius of Granary Square. Due to the lack of physical premises at Kings Cross, we will only be offering a pre-order delivery service to the area at this time. All our online pre-orders carry a 4-day lead time. This allows our bakers to hand make every individual item from weigh-up to bake-off. Orders will always be freshly baked at our Bermondsey bakery on the day of delivery. Deliveries are charged at a flat fee of £4.00 per order. WALK THRU - Customers will enter at the Hermitage Road entrance, come through and park beside soccer field. The market closes at Noon; please allow enough time to shop because all sale transactions need to be completed by 12:05 p.m. During walk thru, social distancing will be monitored as it has been previously. All market policies, VDACS, and COVID 19 regulations and rules will be in forced and followed. Just a couple more @bfmvermont markets to go. This picture is from last summer. It took me a while to mentally adjust to not sampling product. Being able to guide visitors through @vsmileyjam flavors was such a weekly joy and contact high for me. Through farmers markets, I have learned so much about humans, about taste, about sales, about voice, when to give space, when to take up space, etc. I have been bowled over by people’s graciousness, openness and can-do attitude for continuing to jump in and try wacky flavors. Not sampling has gone okay. We rely upon our words. I like “finding the words” so I’ve enjoyed these moments. How cool to be exploring different ways of figuring out if a product makes sense for us.
