No quiero caer en lugares comunes, y hablar de lo positivo de la cuarentena, de esas notas que sacan los diarios de la naturaleza recuperando sus espacios…. Sin dudas ésto fue una prueba muy dura para todos. Normalmente intento en mi vida estar conectado con que soy, un privilegiado, tuve mucha suerte en la vida, y si hay algo que ésta experiencia me ayudó es a reafirmar ésto. Sobre todo mis elecciones. La familia fue un refugio en ésta cuarentena, y no necesariamente momentos instagrameables, horneando pan como si fuera Charles Ingalls. Creo que todos, solos, acompañados, con familias en todos sus formatos, atravesamos ésta etapa como una montaña rusa y experimentamos diferentes momentos, pero en mi caso lo hice acompañado. Hablar de mi mi mujer y mis hijos sería empalagoso, y prefiero guardarlo para mi intimidad (ya haberla convencido para aparecer en la foto es un hito) pero dentro de las miles de cosas que tengo y por las cuales estoy muy agradecido a la vida, ellos son lo primero. - @luchiapuig on Instagram

- My friends parents in the 1970s. They were high school sweethearts and happily married until his passing two years ago. They were basically a second set of parents to me my entire life. She is a huge animal lover and the local police still call her to catch snakes in peoples homes.

A rare chance to see familiar photos in a new light! These are photos of the house at the time when Joy Kogawa lived there, carefully restored and colourized by Marija Stefanovic (@myretrophoto). Joy is with some of the neighbourhood kids in the first photo and with her brother, Timothy, in the other one. Did you know that seventeen years ago, on August 27, 2003, Joy Kogawa returned to Vancouver, and on a chance drive-by found that the house was for sale? The Kogawa Homestead Committee (later known as the Save Kogawa House Committee) was formed with the goal of preserving this historic place and began to fundraise to turn the house into a writers’ residence. Two years later, the house was sold before the group managed to get funds together. New owners renovated, building partition walls to create many small rental rooms and the beautiful wooden windows at the front of the house were replaced with vinyl. By 2005, the new owners began to inquire at City Hall about demolishing the house in order to rebuild.
