Always focus on what matters the most ❤️ it’s been about a year since I started taking Friday evening to Saturday evening off social media and Internet. I get so many DMs about how exactly I do it, so I thought I would share some tips here. Pick a time on a Friday evening ( for me it’s usually around 8:30 and simply disconnect) if you feel tempted to check social media, maybe put your phone on airplane mode or turn WiFi off on your phone. Leave your phone on your bedside table and forget about it. Read a book, journal, listen to music, go for a walk, organise your closet , play with your child, cuddle with your partner or pet, etc. People ask if I still watch TV that day- we don’t have a tv in the house, so that’s not an issue, I never really watch it. This day is for being fully present with myself, with others, with life - it’s my favorite day of the week and I look forward to it every week. It has helped me become calmer and more relaxed - it has also helped me evaluate and decrease the amount of screen time I use for the rest of the week. Now that I have done it for almost a year - I can truly say it’s the best habit I have ever added to my life - it’s been great for my mental and emotional health. I feel balanced and more sure of what I’m here to do and who I am. The less distractions we have to more connected we become to ourselves and the happier we are. Ich habe heute Nacht davon geträumt, dass wir wieder Vlogs auf YouTube hochgeladen haben. Ganz aktuelle und ohne große Ankündigung. Irgendwie war es ganz natürlich und sogar die Kommentarfunktion ging wieder. Verrückt wie der Kopf doch immer mal wieder nostalgisch an alte Zeiten sich zurück erinnert anstatt zu verstehen dass wir aber jetzt hier sind. In dieser Zeit. Und dass es Gründe dafür gibt, warum wir die Schritte manchmal nicht rückwärts sondern vorwärts wählen wollen. YouTube war für mich schon immer ganz groß in meinem Herzen, aber ebenso ist es eine krasse Aufgabe einfach so in der Öffentlichkeit zu stehen. Mit so viel Privatsphäre....der eigene Kopf hat schon genug damit zu tun mit sich selbst klarzukommen und manchmal (egal wie frei du denkst zu sein) kann es einen doch umhauen diese tausend anderen Gedanken. Zu viele Gedanken. Sich so offen nach Außen zu zeigen hat seine Vor-und Nachteile. Ich denke die letzten Jahre waren einfach ein ganz großer Selbstschutz. Vielleicht sind wir eines Tages zurück bei YouTube oder auf irgend einer anderen Plattform, wo wir mehr teilen, aber vielleicht einfach anders. Mit anderen Inhalten. Mit anderem energetischen Austausch. Mit mehr Respekt für uns selbst und euch. Denn was mir mehr denn je wichtig geworden ist in dieser virtuellen Welt, dass wir hier nicht so viel Zeit vergeuden, denn das Leben ist da draußen und nicht hier am Handy. We’re renovating Adams van and waiting for interstate boarders to open so we can start our road trip through the Northern Territory to WA so I can finally kiss my besties pregnant belly or maybe introduce our nuggets if boarder opening takes a while. . The Whitsunday Islands and endless crystal clear surf breaks in Queensland, Arnhem Land, Uluru and Kakadu National park in the Northern Territory, exploring the Kimberleys, hopefully scoring Gnaraloo and meeting the Ningaloo whale sharks in North WA before heading South to Asha and wine country. . Do you ever wonder if you are cut out to be the kind of mother you want your children to have? Do you tell yourself at the end of the day if only I could yell less, decrease the feeling of exhaustion, not be so forgetful, have more time in a day, or get rid of the clutter and chaos...etc______you fill in the blank? If so, let me tell you first you are normal and your are not alone! ⠀ You ARE however probably experiencing a level of burnout! Burnout has as undeniably increased since the pandemic struck earth, but even before COVID-19, parents have been experiencing burnout for years due to workplace stress but also from general life and home stressors. ⠀ I know for a FACT I have experienced long periods of burnout before. Even now, knowing more about how to easily identify it, I still experience varying levels of burnout. I am, however, more equipped to manage it. ⠀ ➡️check in with yourself- ask yourself what outcome you REALLY want and use positive language around what you desire. Ex. Instead of saying...I want to decrease exhaustion, say...I want to feel energized. I want to have more time in my day- say...I will learn to manage my time better. ⠀ ➡️practice self care- get deep and ask your self where you need the MOST attention. Is it mind, body, or soul? Then create a self care routine around your biggest need. Start there before incorporating more self care activities. ⠀ ➡️Be ok asking for help! If you are giving all the time, where have you created space to give to yourself? Create that space by asking for help. If you have family or friends close by- ask if they can lend a hand. If you have a spouse- be vocal and honest about how you have been feeling and create a plan together that offers you some relief! Do not sugar coat it, be honest! If you are both burnt out (hello dual income household with multiple kids during a pandemic)- trade off space and time for you each to fulfill your own needs. ⠀ ➡️prioritize rest- this could be part of your self care, but it deserves an extra shout out! We have quite a few new faces on here, so heres a little Friday intro. for you all! Were so thrilled youre here! 8 Fun Facts: 1. Johnny and I (Rachel here!) were both homeschooled and grew up in super huge families— like, there were basically 200 family members at our wedding (true story!). ⛪ . 2. We attended the same classes and had mutual friends throughout high school. However, our paths didn’t cross until Johnny messaged me on social media after we’d each graduated from college. (#FacebookMarriage) 💍 . 3. Our kiddos are living miracles! Our daughters were both born premature, Finnley at 29wks, and Fielder at 32wks. And our family grew by one cute little Tank of a son, Ax Kingston, after we had the honor of adopting him out of fostercare. . 4. Before we ‘fell into the industry’ (quite literally) we both had corporate jobs; Johnny was clean shaven, drove a sports car and was in sales (whatttt!) while I worked as a writer and model. (To say that our lives look a little different these days is quite the understatement ;)) 💼👨🏻💼➡️🔨👨🏻🏭 . 5. We’re grateful and honored to partner with our friends who have an orphanage in Chennai India. They work tirelessly to rescue precious little ones out of slavery. I got to stay with them for 3 weeks back in 2011 and our lives have never been the same since! 💓🌍 . 6. Family is everything to us. Some of our favorite things to do together are traveling, Ranger games, and going on walks. We’re also big foodies. ⚾️🍴 . 7. Johnny’s family is originally from Wisconsin, while I’m Costa Rican Canadian. So it was easy to join Johnny on the Green Bay Packers bandwagon— making us unashamed #Cheeseheads. GO PACK GO. 🧀 👊🏻 . 8. One of the best parts about this little dream of ours is the friendships we’ve built along the way. We’ve met some of the most incredible people on this little journey, and words truly fall short to adequately describe our gratitude.❤️ . So you see, although we may be a ‘smallbiz with a brand’ really— we’re just a little family; super grateful to be together and do what we love. THANK. I always say that age is just a number. And you are testament to that. After 9 years of celebrating your birthday with you, Ive seen how much youve grown as a person, but at the same time remained the same. Youve managed to become this mature, successful, confident person that people look up to. And yet youve stayed true to yourself, grounded and kind, with the everlasting childlike kakulitan. . I know this is not how we usually celebrate our birthdays. But I hope you enjoyed your day of nothingness (as in literally did nothing for the entire day except eat and watch Netflix). . Jetzt sind wir vollkommen ❤️ Seit fünf Tagen bin ich nun vierfache Mama und es fühlt sich einfach perfekt an 🙏🏼 Die Großen haben die Kleine auch perfekt angenommen. Die Jungs streiten sich darüber, wer die Kleine länger halten darf und Alinchen tut so, als wäre es nie anders gewesen 😅 Sie hilft fleißig beim wickeln, umziehen und will sie immer „behandeln“ 👩🏻⚕️ Vor Eifersucht war hier Gottseidank nicht mal 1 Sekunde die Rede ❤️ ⠀ Mir geht es auch super 🙏🏼 Ich bin allerdings sehr froh, dass ich mich doch für 3 Tage Krankenhausaufenthalt und nicht für eine ambulante Geburt entschieden habe. Denn nun ist mein Wochenbett leider, wie erwartet, so gut wie vorbei 😑(nicht nachmachen bitte 😒) Ich versuche zwar zwei Gänge zurückzuschalten und mich immer wieder zu erholen. Aber so richtig klappen tut das nicht 🙈 So ist das Leben in einer Großfamilie 🤪 Aber ich beschwere mich nicht. I heard once that the mother is the heart of the home. Lately I have felt the weight of this role more than ever. It’s a good weight. It gives me a reason to wake up every morning. I am needed. I have an eternal purpose. Sometimes it can be overwhelming. And IMPOSSIBLE to do it all well. Today I’m pooped. Laundry. Cleaning out the garage. Sorting kids clothes. Cooking. Cleaning the kitchen eighty times. Tidying. Bills. Appointments. Naps. Cuddles. Band aids. Carpet cleaner (like zeroez should hire me) I could keep going, but you get the idea. So to all my fellow gals. You’re doing it. You’re waking up. You’re showing up. You are doing a lot better than you think you are.
