Before I even knew what #Juneteenth was, I was performing and celebrating at festivals and events to commemorate the holiday with Dundu Dole Urban African Ballet helmed by Momma Jai @jai_jlk . It’s because of her not our schools, that we were able to learn about our history in an artistic, communal, and educational way. She has blessed thousands of children with her wisdom and generosity. I am so grateful that I was able to learn about the vastness of the African diaspora at such a young age. It is one of the experiences I cherish most and it continuously propels me to be a proud and successful Black man. I’m one day away from releasing the @abctravelgreenbook to the world. • I’ve literally felt every emotion I can the last 3 weeks, but now I’m just nervous! • I mean like anxiety through the roof! I’ve had so many interviews this week and a ton next week and everytime i open my mouth and start to talk about this book, I’m reminded why I wanted to create it . Why God ordered my steps to walk this path, and why all things travel, especially Black travel excite me!! • I’m just as excited to use it as everyone else because I’ve been so focused, I haven’t gotten a chance to enjoy the book yet, but after tomorrow I’ll have the rest of my life to explore. • I can’t imagine what Victor Hugo Green felt creating the #greenbook , and just think, he did it without search engines, without facebooks groups and without instagram algorithms! He is such a legend man, he deserves a street, a highway, a day all of it! He kept so many people alive! I hope he’s looking down smiling on the legacy he left and the one I’m trying to build. Meet Francis Naimodu. When he grows up, he wants to be an engineer. Already he is the go-to fixer and problem solver in his Maasai Mara community. When Francis heard that a free high school for boys was opening, he saw his future open wide.
