We’ve loved seeing all the reactions to the first pin in our Novel Threads series as they’ve started arriving! We honestly had NO idea the response would be so strong for these so thank you. 🖤😭 While we did significantly increase the volume of pins we ordered from what we were producing for our Destination Stamp collection, it still doesn’t appear to be enough. Each month we’ve planned for a slight increase of subscriptions, but you guys are still snapping them up very quickly and we do not want anyone to feel slighted that they missed out. Therefore, we are working fervently with our manufacturer to make another big jump and open up more slots for our November pin. ✨ As promised, not all of our pins will be dresses, in fact - November’s pin is not! We’ve had a handful of cancelations of subscriptions for America’s Dress so far so we should be able to open up a few more slots around the 20th of this month - so stay tuned. Please don’t forget if you are an active subscriber, your subscription will renew on the 16th. Make sure your credit card information is up to date and shipping information is correct. Winterthur has been celebrating women all year with fascinating exhibits highlighting both the unsung and the well-known historical heroes - the disruptors, thinkers, creators, and influencers. Perhaps no woman influenced Winterthur more than the lady of the house, Ruth Wales du Pont. Our new exhibit of the same name opens October 1 in the Galleries, and introduces visitors to Ruth Wales, a talented musician, society figure, and hostess of four houses. The exhibit includes numerous photographs and documents from Winterthur’s vast archive documenting her life of hospitality, music, and travel. A meticulously crafted reproduction of her 1916 wedding gown, seen here, will be on display. Although the original dress has been lost to time, this beautiful reproduction, done by seamstress Karin Bohleke, director of the Fashion Archives and Museum of Shippensburg University, was created using early twentieth-century sewing techniques and newspaper clippings describing the dress. Holaaaa!!💥 Hoy vengo a hablarles sobre “La tregua” de Mario Benedetti, es un libro que leí a principios de este año por recomendación de mi mamá ❣️. Yo jamás había leído algo de Benedetti, pero espero poder leer mas de el ya que el libro me ha encantado. Buuueno, el libro está escrito en forma de diario, por lo cual (al menos para mi) hace más fácil la lectura. Es el diario de Martín Santomé un señor que soñó le faltan 6 meses y 28 dias para estar en condiciones de jubilarse. Y sólo piensa en qué hará con tanto tiempo libre, pero todo lo que podría ser una buena idea termina por ponerle mil pretextos para terminar por desecharla. Él es viudo y la relación con sus hijos no es muy buena. Él es un hombre muy rutinario, le gusta su rutina, hay una frase en el libro que va “Hoy fue un día feliz; sólo rutina”. Pero no contaba con que en su trabajo entrarían nuevas personas una de ellas se llama Laura Avellaneda y él se va enamorado de ella, pero, él piensa que sería una locura tener una relación con ella por la diferencia de edad. Sebagai minoritas yang dipandang selalu berorientasi pada tanah Arab, tempat asalnya, orang Indonesia keturunan Arab dengan berjalannya waktu telah terintegrasi dengan baik ke dalam masyarakat Indonesia. Belakangan, peran mereka di beberapa bidang kehidupan tampak semakin menguat dan terlihat. Meskipun demikian, kajian atau literatur tentang orang Indonesia keturunan Arab ini masih terbatas. Demikian juga dengan pemahaman mengenai peri kehidupan mereka masih jauh memadai. Kebanyakan khalayak non-Arab, misalnya, tidak mengetahui bahwa sebagian besar orang Indonesia Arab berasal dari Hadhramaut (Yaman), dan bukan berasal dari Arab Saudi (Hejaz), seperti yang sering diduga. Buku ini merupakan kumpulan artikel yang ditulis oleh Huub de Jonge, Indonesianis dari Radboud University Nijmegen, Belanda. Huub de Jonge mengangkat beberapa topik menarik tentang komunitas Hadhrami pada paro pertama abad ke-20, termasuk perlakuan diskriminatif pemerintah kolonial terhadap komunitas mereka, perselisihan internal mereka tentang posisi sayid, peranan majalah Aliran Baroe, pementasan Tonil Fatimah yang kontroversial, dan peran ganda sosok ilmuwan Snouck Hurgronje. Secara khusus, de Jonge juga memberikan gambaran kehidupan masyarakat Hadhrami yang tidak banyak diketahui oleh orang non-Arab, yakni tentang kedudukan kaum perempuan, bentuk pendidikan, aspek pernikahan, praktik dan siasat perdagangan, serta konflik-konflik internal di kalangan masyarakat Hadhrami di Indonesia. Yang menarik, de Jonge memanfaatkan beragam sumber penelitian dalam kajiannya, termasuk dokumen arsip serta berkala berbahasa Melayu, Jepang, dan Belanda. Ya está editado en cassette el Concerto para plantas que realicé el pasado 24 de Noviembre en Pilarica, 81 curado por @gabrielruiz_larrea. Fue un concierto entre la composición y libre improvisación para sintetizador modular, saxofón y grabaciones de campo trabajado enfatizando rangos de frecuencias que afectan a las plantas de manera positiva en su crecimiento. Esta sesión fue la primera versión de nuestro proyecto en común TUINDERLUSTEN, un proyecto de experimentación entre las artes visuales y las artes sonoras con el que se invita a repensar nuestra relación con la naturaleza, estableciendo un diálogo activo entre los humanos y las plantas.
