We experienced a strict lockdown in Romania and I just had to document it on my film... It was like reality tv... 3 girls in a 2 room apartment and 9 weeks of hardly leaving the place... Honestly, we didn’t even a have a single fight and I wouldn’t change a thing about it, it just brought us sooo close ❤️ Pictures: 1. Riley was our friend, but he was everybody’s friend. He was very easy to get along with. He was kind and welcoming. He cared deeply for everyone. We got to know Riley through Power Trip, an amazing band. He would let us crash while we were on the road and we would stay up late talking about books and comics, records and Foucault, and later we were lucky enough to do two tours together. On stage, Riley was incomparable. He was commanding but he was also gentle. He would do a high kick and then say something thoughtful or witty. It was grace and gratitude and grit all in one. I always like to tell my dad how proud I am of him. As you’ve heard, Sam was quite the brother, an amazing and loving husband, and a little bit of a handful as a boy :). I’d like to join in and share how amazing of a father and mentor he was. He and my mom raised us, they taught us what it meant to care for others, to think for ourselves and never give up, and he was the biggest role model, he taught me so much. I remember as a little boy, I would wake up early on Sunday’s to run downstairs and find him fixing different problems on the computer. I would jump up on his lap and fire off questions. “What are you doing? What does that do? Why are you doing that? What’s that, what’s this?!” He would sit there and answer every question, teaching me how to problem solve, troubleshoot the solution, and keep tinkering until it made sense, until we figured it out. “We make a pretty good team” he’d say to me, yeah, we always did make a pretty good team. He was my go to guy, my mentor, always there to help me work through anything, and when he didn’t know he would learn. He always wanted to learn. I am so lucky to have someone so special raise me and stick by my side day in and day out. I am so proud of him. Of all that he did for me, my brothers, my mother. I am so proud of him and all of his hard work creating his legacy in us and cheering us on. Even after long days at work, rushing home to catch our little league games, and be there for dinner—every night. And fighting for us, all the way to the end. He beat the prediction of every doctor and I am so proud that he got to see me graduate and cheer me on all the way. Right to the end he fought, he never gave up. Dad, thank you for everything. Thank you for your advice, late night chats, great music, wise jokes, and guiding tips. Thank you for being my dad. This year marks the 40th anniversary of Terry Foxs Marathon of Hope and today marks the 39th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run. Writer @susan_l_goldberg caught up with local doctor, Geoff Davis, who recounted his visit to Foxs room at @theprincearthurhotel after Fox ended his legendary marathon just east of Thunder Bay. At the time, Foxs goal was to raise $24 million: one dollar from every Canadian. Today, more than $800 million has been raised in his name for cancer research, according to the @terryfoxfoundation. We love this nostalgic memory from Prestonian Carlie Alicastro, growing up going to the market with her nonna to visit her family at @joesqualitycorner (pictured in 1990): I grew up at the Preston Market. Every Saturday, my nonna would take my sisters and cousins on the bus to the market to visit my uncles and cousins who worked (and still work) at Joe’s Quality Corner. As young kids, we helped to sell the dog bones and wash the tickets. After all that hard work, nonna would buy us a slice of pizza! Yum! Now, as an adult, I live in Preston and shop at the market every Saturday. Every time I walk in... I get those nostalgic feelings from time spent with family and especially my nonna. I, like many of us....have had deep wanderlust lately, and I think the universe is trying to tell me to remember my love of Italy. It just keeps coming up on the universe radar. And then, just now... to complete the theory, my mother emails me this picture. 18 year old me, holding a heart shaped pizza at a beachside cafe in Positano where I truly fell in love with cooking. . I remember this moment so exactly and dearly. I was having a teenage moment and stormed out of our villa to walk myself to dinner and eat alone. In acrimony. Of what, I have no idea. I sat grumpily and ordered a pizza. This is what they brought me.. a ❤️ heart. I was tickled, I mean look at me, it made me so happy!
