Currently one of my 2020 favorites, this suite has it ALL. Cotton paper with letterpress + blind press accent created the loveliest texture. Then we added a delicate vellum overlay printed with a greenery pattern to add a splash of color, wrapped it in a dainty string and topped it off with an edgy black wax seal. I always want to post for infertility awareness week but often feel like a fraud doing so (I’m even late posting this year) I have been blessed with my three amazing children without any struggle, but it has affected 2 women I love very dearly. For 5 years, I watched them both struggle through miscarriages, medications, injections, the mental and physical exhaustion and even through my pregnancies. A sort of survivors guilt laid heavy as I shared my joy with them throughout my pregnancies. They were always gracious, kind, shared in my excitement & celebrated with me, but it truly ached my heart. But THIS year, this 2020, has allowed me to produce BOTH of their baby shower invitation suites. I must have cried over both sets of invites like 100 times, like the true sap I am. UBC Pharm Sci Student Initiatives: Handmade Cards for Inpatients and Care Home Residents * Third-year Entry-to-Practice PharmD student Navjit Moore has been making cards to brighten the spirits of hospital patients and care home residents in Burnaby and Abbotsford. Each card contains a personalized message or quote. * So far, Navjit has created 279 cards. 100 cards went to patients at Burnaby General Hospital and residents at Fellburn Care Centre in Burnaby, 100 to residents at Fair Haven Homes, and 79 to residents at the Oxford Senior Care Centre in Abbotsford. * Says Navjit: “I am a regular volunteer at Fair Havens Home where I play chess with the residents, and Burnaby General Hospital where I help out as a team lead and way-finder. I am also Crohns and Colitis Canada Fraser Valley East chapter president since 2015. Unfortunately, all of my volunteer work has been put on hold and being immunocompromised myself has meant that I have had to get creative in the ways I can contribute during this pandemic.
