I know you are here because you’re ready to ~feel~ the difference in your hair. 🤓😊 I started my own line of hair care products a few years ago when I just couldn’t find anything that worked for me. After losing a lot of my own hair from medical treatments for breast cancer I was unbelievably frustrated, especially because I always had perfect thick strong hair. Being in the beauty industry for over 25 years I thought there has to be something on the market that would address these issues and make a significant difference. I was wrong because I literally tried hundreds of products and nothing made me feel better about the condition of my hair. After extensive research involving many doctors and chemists I developed my own marine based product line called VASO. 🧚♂️💪🏼💫 Some interesting FACTS: Seaweed alone contains many of the necessary vitamins and minerals needed for hair growth. ... Vitamins A and C are also needed to produce sebum, which acts as a natural hair conditioner; vitamins B and E help maintain healthy hair. Calcium, rich in seaweed, is another vital mineral in hair production. All of these and then some are ingredients in my line VASO, products to make your hair #feel like it should. I am a New Yorker. I don’t care what the “qualifications” are, whether or not you agree or will allow me to declare myself so. New York is the only place I’ve ever felt at home. I moved here when I was 19 years old. I still live in the same neighborhood, blocks from my 1st apartment, when I lived w/ @lenarockerhall’s sister in BK. I’ve seen the beauty of watching my dreams come true, & at times I have seen those same dreams completely crushed. I’ve made a living doing what I love. But I’ve also HUSTLED working more odd survival jobs than I can remember. I’ve openly, publicly wept on the subway. I’ve learned the nuances of Manhattan’s nooks and crannies on the wheels of my beloved bike. I’ve found a dead cockroach in my sweater after wearing it for hours. I’ve had midnight make out sessions on the streets of Midtown. I’ve known Times Square bomb threats, subway suicides, explosions from pipes under the city, blackouts, & hurricanes that have brought the city to a stand still. And I’ve spent the last 5 months in my 1 bedroom, riding out the worst part of this pandemic w/all my fellow New Yorkers. I went to the protests, vigils, marches, & we all stood together. We wore our masks to the grocery store w/o question. I am so proud of this city. I am so proud to have made my life here. New York IS NOT DEAD. But for now, my life is packed up, & my boxes are going into storage. Does that mean I’m not a New Yorker? Because I need to step away? Of course not. And no one can take that away from me. I can’t sign a new lease w/o the industry that I work in returning for the next year. So I’m making choices for healing. I need to be in the trees, to sleep under the stars, to put my feet in running rivers, to climb & hike & do some soul-growing. And when I return, I will be better for it, & I will have so much more life & vibrancy to give this city I love so much. I can’t wait to come back home. Until then, honor your truth, follow your heart, & do what you need to survive. And find it in your heart to let others do the same w/o judgement. So thankful for this special handmade gift from my friend Ace out in Oklahoma. You guys have heard him & my other friend Jesse at the end of “White Noise/White Lines”. Each bead and symbol means something, this band tells a story. It is tied together with brain tanned deer hide he did himself. He surprised me with the John Prine “JP” initials to hold with me as well. I kept it on my stand all weekend while in the studio to keep John’s memory close to me. As Ace said, “these beads and this story will last longer than both of us, and that’s why they were so important to us (the Chickasaw) and that’s why I wanted you to have it”.
