It was often too big, but I would wear it. It’s better than no shoes. My father used his ties as a belt because he didn’t have a belt. When he was doing hard labor in the winter, he would open up the tie to wrap on his feet because he had no socks and they were so cold. Why have you become so consumed with this issue? It’s really a challenge when you see these people — it’s too big, too many — like an open wound. It’s not a problem that can be easily solved. We’re so delighted to be reopening @drawinglabparis on Sep 8 with our latest large format drawings on canvas. We spent lockdown in Paris preparing this new series to share with you. These are accompanied by hundreds of drawings from our archive that reveal for the first time our collaborative process, across the multiple intersecting themes we’ve been investigating since the early 90’s. Exploratory drawing workshops will be held in situ later this month. Reservations at Drawing Lab. Curator Blandine Roselle in her catalogue essay: Lucy + Jorge Orta’s creative process resembles the growth of a tree. The trunk represents their conceptual approach and issues. The branches stand for thematic developments, which are progressively explored and expanded as the tree branches out. The roots, deepening rhizomes, provide the foundation for an interdisciplinary approach that gives substance to the process. In a way, the exhibition ‘Orta Drawing Lab’ is a tree too. A tree that is yours to climb and grow. Lucy + Jorge Orta comparent leur processus créatif aux branches d’un arbre poussant dans différentes directions. Le tronc représente leur démarche conceptuelle et leurs problématiques. Les branches incarnent le développement des thématiques qu’ils explorent et approfondissent peu à peu, au fur et à mesure qu’elles poussent et se ramifient. We cannot necessarily prevent bad things happening to us, but our choices can greatly influence the paths our lives take. We cannot control the future. But we can control how it controls us. By leading our lives in a certain way, we can regulate how we experience those bad things when they strike. We can decide whether we will let them destroy us, or whether we will emerge from them stronger. The choice is ours. A moment in history we’ll never forget 🙌🏼 20 years ago today, we showcased our audio production to the world at the 2000 Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony. Events don’t come much bigger than this! Norwest took the event to a new level, setting benchmarks for international sporting ceremonies audio production. Not bad work from a guy who had only set the company up a few years’ prior as a one-man-band 💪🏼🔊 It was a BIG night and many big things happened after that. We also went on to deliver the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for Athens 2004, Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, London 2012 and Rio 2016. Whilst every event is special, we are honoured to have been involved in some truly Special Events.
