Thanks to @blessingmanifesting for this ♥ . . September is #PCOSAwarenessMonth so I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little bit about it. PCOS is a hormonal condition where the body produces too many androgens, or male hormones. This causes problems like irregular and super painful periods, insulin resistance, and ovarian cysts for many (but not all) of people with PCOS and a lot of other symptoms.⠀ ⠀ My wife has #PCOS and its weve had so many discussions about how difficult it is not only on a physical level - but an emotional/mental one as well, which has been the hardest for her. ⠀ ⠀ PCOS often comes along with hirsutism, or excessive hair growth. Some people with PCOS can grow facial hair, even full beards (she can, and its a mighty fine looking one! One of the positives of wearing a mask out in public is less shaving!) But when she was younger shed shave her face twice a day just so that no one would see.⠀ ⠀ So many of the symptoms have a HUGE impact on your self-esteem and your body image and they arent often talked about. Infertility is probably the most talked about symptom but there are so many others. Hair growth on arms backs, chest, and stomach. Skin tags, acne, and dark patches of skin are also signs of PCOS, as well as weight gain and difficulty losing weight. Over the years, looking skinny and toned was all that the fitness industry cared about - eating less carbs, doing more cardio, high rep sets & and going easy on them weights! Ummm hell nahh 😈 Boyyyy am I glad I didnt succumb to that... I went with what my gut told me and listened to my body was wanting. TRYING to get “THICC” wasnt really a thing back then honestly, but now Im so glad to see hundreds and thousands of WBK girls from all around the world join in the movement and challenge the idea that us girls need to be thin to be attractive!!! The biggest difference between Instagram REELS and TikTok is the algorithms!! Understanding exactly how the REELS algorithm works is absolutely essential for your success! So let’s go through it together... 👇🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Step 1️⃣: You make a REELS video and you have the option to share it on your profile. You ALWAYS want to click yes on this option. Why? Because when you show it on your profile, it encourages your current followers to engage right away!! These first few minutes of engagement are what will determine the livelihood of your post. Videos that are not shared to your profile tend to get significantly lower engagement and therefore die off sooner. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Step 2️⃣: Once your video is shared to your profile, it begins being pushed out to your followers newsfeeds. Instagram tracks how much engagement your post gets compared to the time that it has been live. The faster the post collects likes, comments and shares, the higher priority it is given in the Instagram algorithm. If the post does well and is gaining traction from your followers then Instagram starts promoting it under the hashtags and location tags that you’ve provided. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Step 3️⃣: At this point, your post starts being prompted to new users who don’t already follow you via the hashtag pages, location page and discover page. If new people chose to engage, Instagram determines that your post is a winner and continues to move it up the ranks, showing it to more and more people. If no one engages, the post dies off and it’s time to try again! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Essentially the entire algorithm is driven by 2 components: ENGAGEMENT ❤️ and TIME ⏰!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You need a certain amount of engagement over a certain amount of time in order for Instagram o classify your post as a winning piece of content! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The good news is that once you get to this “winning” status, Instagram is reserving the TOP spots on all these pages for REELS. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So... the number one thing you need to be focusing on when it comes to REELS is ENGAGEMENT!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Any questions about the REELS algorithm and how it differs from regular posts??
