Tonight will be the last night of this horrific ceremony that takes place in the name of religion. To think that there is a god - a higher power - that asks for the murder of innocent beings to atone for the sins of humans is unfathomable. The volunteers, demonstrators, rescuers and triage crews that we have worked with all week are the most selfless people we know. We have been working with The Alliance To End Chickens As Kaporos and United Poultry Concerns since 2014 to end this cruel practice. We have protested the mayors office, the NYC Health Department, there was even a law suit. No one in power elected to protect the NYC residents will end the massacre that takes place on our public city streets every year. There is a spike in Covid directly related to these outdoor makeshift butcher stands all over Brooklyn, where not one of the practitioners wear masks. Hundreds of adults and children gathered and pressed up against each other are standing in blood and feces that run through the streets and in to our gutters, sewers and eventually waterways. Zum Wochenende möchte ich Euch die kleine Lilly vorstellen 🥰 ich wurde zur Geburt vorsorglich dazu gerufen, da es irgendwie nicht richtig weiter ging und meine Namensvetter-Kuh Lena letztes Jahr eine Totgeburt hatte. Daher wollte die Inhaberin der @landmetzgerei_klein kein Risiko eingehen. Und das war gut so! 👍 . Das Kalb lag zwar richtig vor dem Beckeneingang, die Fruchtblase war bereits offen und der Muttermund vollständig geöffnet. Allerdings zeigte Lena zwar eine starke Unruhe aber keinerlei Wehentätigkeit. 🤷🏽‍♀️ . ℹ️ Eine Wehenschwäche kann primär oder sekundär sein. Bei der sekundären Wehenschwäche liegt ein anderes Problem zu Grunde, wie eine falsche Lage des Kalbes, ein zu großes Kalb oder Erkrankungen. Dies führt dazu dass die Geburt normal beginnt und auch Wehen vorhanden sind. Da durch das Grundproblem die Geburt jedoch nicht voran geht kommt es irgendwann erschöpfungsbedingt zu einem Ausbleiben weiterer Wehen. In diesem Fall muss natürlich erst das die Ursache beseitigt werden, bevor die Wehen z.B durch Medikamente wieder angeregt werde können oder Geburtshilfe geleistet werden kann. 🐮 . In diesem Fall war eigentlich alles „normal“, so dass von einer primären Wehenschwäche ausgegangen werden kann. Diese kann durch altersbedingte Schwäche der Gebärmuttermuskulatur, Störung der hormonellen Geburtssteuerung, Stress oder subklinischen Kalziummangel ausgelöst werden. Ein Kalziummangel muss natürlich ausgeglichen werden, dann geht es oft schon von alleine weiter. In allen anderen Fällen und so auch bei Lena reicht es aus, das Kalb vorsichtig in die Geburtswege zu ziehen und durch den Druck reflektorische Bauchpressen auszulösen. - My first calla lily bloom was destroyed by hail. This one is pristine. I can’t get over how gorgeous she is.

Yesterday the @pantanal_relief_fund Animal Rescue Team was called by our neighbor at @jaguarecologicalreserve. He said there was an very badly burned tapir in his yard in search of water. Our team arrived stabilized the female tapir, cleaned her 3 degree burns on all 4 feet, bandage her up and stayed up with her all night until an ambulance came to get her at 5:30am the his morning! She is on her way to a facility that can care better for these types of wounds. We need to give a huge thank you to these heroes! Volunteering their time, energy and health to save all the victims of this fire. This group is the only ones working to help the animals in the northern pantanal. We need more assistance! Westfälische Meisterschaft 2020🌟 Dieses Wochenende konnten wir auf den westfälischen Meisterschaften in Fröndenberg drei sehr schön und lehrreiche Runden absolvieren. Es waren keine fehlerfreien Runden aber wir konnten sehr viel lernen und viel für die Winterarbeit mitnehmen. Zudem konnten wir heute das erste Mal unsere Kür reiten und uns auf dem siebten Platz rangieren. Auch hiermit sind wir sehr zufrieden. Mit einem achten Platz in der Gesamtwertung sind wir ganz zufrieden, sehr stolz auf unseren Fürsti und freuen uns auf die nächsten Turniere. Uncovering this little 2017 adventure from Svinklovene, Denmark, while I #stayathome to #flattenthecurve. These wild horses live along the shoreline of the North Sea, within the Svinkløv Dune Plantation – a 700 hectare state-owned historical site and internationally protected EU wildlife habitat area. Until the 13th century, there was a sea passage here called Sløjen, that offered merchant navies and Viking ships access to the Limfjord and the North Sea. Over time the wind and smashing waves have closed the passage with shifting sand along the coastline. In todays age, this is now a rugged and stunning landscape, and its natural inhabitants are absolutely spectacular. • While I angled my camera for these shots, the herds black stud watched me very intently, as he claimed his territory. My friend Christina Pedersen (who took me to this special spot), also stood patiently in the grass with these beauties... until the light dropped low against the horizon and the horses drifted into the grass covered dunes. Afterwards, my friend and I both laughed in disbelief that we had spotted and photographed these danish wildies. “Es un pequeño paso para el hombre, pero un gran paso para NUESTRA #ICA 🐴 Mira la secuencia de vídeos y emocionate con nosotros. El sueño de todo el #voluntariado, parecía imposible, inalcanzable.. pero sus ganas de sentir el viento, el sol, las aves y ver a sus compañeros pudo más. Hoy #Ica No solo pudo mantenerse en pie sola, hoy camino y sin carrito!!! #Ica llego a #CRRE con ambos carpos luxados, con todos los extensores de ambos miembros cortados, una infección y miasis (bichera), se veían los huesos y articulaciones. El pronostico era el peor.. incluso ya le habían diagnosticado donde la encontraron que había que eutanasiarla. Su tratamiento (que aun sigue) lleva ya casi 3 meses de yesos, férulas, vendajes especiales, limpieza, antibióticos, fisioterapia y más.. Ayer después de ver como ella había comenzado durante la semana a sostener su propio peso y descansar en el arnés, decidimos que era tiempo de empezar a volver a caminar. Los primeros pasos fueron un lio, al no poder extender sus brazos se complicaba avanzar, pero con unos minutos de practica Ica empezó a entender por donde iba la cosa.. Pasito a pasito llegamos afuera, más lejos de lo que jamas habíamos llegado, antes solo andábamos por el piso firme del galpón. Sintió el sol en todo su cuerpo después de meses, comio pasto y eso creemos que la fortaleció y motivo a ir por más... Quiso avanzar a donde estaba el pasto más verde, eso llevo un tiempo y ahí decidimos quitarle el arnés. Creímos que al hacerlo se iba a echar como siempre porque no aguantaba, estaba bueno que tome una siesta al sol.. Pero no! Ella no se iba a acostar, nos dejo a todos boquiabiertos porque empezó a caminar y comer sola sin ayuda. Y ahí entre lagrimas saladas de alegría y emoción todos nos quedamos admirandola porque ella le gano a la muerte, porque nunca se entrego, porque tenía todo en contra pero nada la pudo detener. No nos debe nada y aun asi nos dio es el regalo más hermoso a todos los que estuvimos ahí para ella, una victoria para atesorar por siempre en el corazón. Septiembre, mes de la COSECHA DEL ARROZ en la Albufera Aún quedan algunos labradores con los que compartir la transformación que ha sufrido el cultivo del arroz en los últimos 50-60 años. Lejos quedan aquellas jornadas largas y maratonianas de siega del arroz a mano; cuadrillas de jornaleros procedentes de diversas zonas de Valencia y alrededores, dormían en barracas y graneros repartidos por el marjal, lejos de sus familias y allegados durante una larga temporada. Una vez en la faena, algunas veces, tenían suficiente fuerza como para rebelarse y pedir un aumento de su jornal, antes de seguir con sus labores, con el peligro de que “el amo” perdiese la cosecha. Todo aquello pasó a la historia, las primeras cosechadoras que llegaron a la Albufera, se probaron en el Tancat de l’Estell de Arroz Tartana en El Palmar y en la Finca de El Saladar en Sueca, dos cosechadoras alemanas dispuestas a mecanizar el método de siega que se había llevado a cabo tradicionalmente en la Albufera desde la conquista de los árabes en el 711 d.c., dónde éstos introducen el cultivo del arroz en Europa por primera vez. Actualmente, la siega manual no se ha perdido del todo, Arroz Tartana sigue cosechando a mano las orillas de los campos dónde no alcanza la máquina de cosechar. Todos los arroces, dicen si hay alrededor de 100.000 variedades en el mundo, se deben cosechar con la humedad que les corresponda para garantizar su máxima calidad gastronómica. Ahí entra la pericia del labrador, para saber cuándo es el momento ideal para segar. Del campo, el arroz se lleva al secadero. La forma tradicional se realiza de forma natural extendiendo el arroz en la era, y con la brisa del Mar Mediterráneo. Industrialmente, se realiza con una secadora mecánica. Un secado adecuado, garantiza la calidad del arroz a la hora de cocinarlo y degustarlo. Una vez seco el arroz, el fruto y sudor del agricultor de toda una campaña, queda almacenado en los graneros para su venta. Гортензии в саду!!! Растения любят почву, насыщенную питательными веществами. Я добавляю в грунт немного речного песка, Сульфат калия и Суперфосфат по инструкции. Почву мульчирую торфом, чтобы медленнее испарялась влага. Вообще гортензии очень влаголюбивы. Растения хорошо отзываются на опрыскивания. Летом и осенью кустики надо подкармливать. Я вношу удобрения 4 раза в год: в период наращивания зеленой массы, перед образованием бутонов, в начале и после цветения. Для этого пользуюсь различными составами, в зависимости от того, какой окрас соцветий хочу получить. Для гортензий с розовыми соцветиями готовлю такой раствор: в 5 литрах воды разбавляю 500 мл жидкого навоза, затем добавляю ½ ст. ложки «Эффектона» и ½ ст. ложки «Агриколы-7». Перед поливом грунт в горшке присыпаю древесной золой. А чтобы цветки получили красивую синюю окраску, развожу в 5 литрах воды ½ ст. ложки Сульфата аммония и ½ ст. ложки Сульфата калия. Таким составом я поливаю кусты до распускания бутонов и при появлении первых цветков. “Maremma Dee-Light😍” Meet Lucca (Italian for “light”), he’s our Italian goat guard dog, going on 3 years old, about 120 pounds - he’s built like a wolf (look at those mits!), he’s only friendly with a few who know him, since he lives with the herd - it’s best to stay away when he’s around. He has a very large head, thick mane, and a set of jaws. Another Maremma down our road took out a young cougar - probably because the cougar didn’t see the Maremma coming out of the herd until it was too late - and once those jaws got on the cougar, there was no return. Lucca is fearless, and we have no issues with coyotes, being built like a wolf, long and lanky, he has a kind of lope about him that lets him cover a lot of ground easily. Now the boys are grown, married and booking their own trips with Scenic City Fishing. So this year Henry brought his past and current co-workers from the Davidson County Sheriffs Dept., Vincent Carr and Harold Taylor. With high wind conditions the day began VERY slow. I truly cant believe how bad my day is going!!😁 92 miles, 7,700 feet of elevation is a tough ride but Ive really enjoyed every second of it, every hill, even getting lost for a few miles going around in circles didnt get me down or disheartened. I have made sacrifices to do this ride but many would love to do it once & Im now doing it for a 2nd time. I am very privileged to do this, but we all are very privileged to live in this country & I think sometimes we need reminding of that. Wrapping up our month of NYB #MemberSpotlights with Renata Petraitis! Renata is a C+ Dressage certification, which she earned on her OTTB Tappin’ to the Music, aka Wiz, pictured here! She and Wiz used to event through training level, before an old injury forced them into dressage boot camp for rehab, and they never went back. They competed through third level dressage until it came time for Wiz to retire. I am heartened by the increase in support for local agriculture that is showing up in our region. A less consolidated Bioregional food system is a safer more nourishing more humanizing and animal/ecosystem friendly food system. This humanizing and eco friendly type of food system is not really a return. In this country it has not yet existed. Moving towards it is a huge and inspiring task. It will require lots of relearning. Lots of curiosity and willingness to change. As our day to day opens back up I hope customers can hang in there and continue to support local ag. This means practicing patience as supply chains inevitably falter, as we adjust our strategy and run out of food variety at times, as the local processing infrastructure takes time to adapt, as we try new growing strategies and sometimes fail. Asimina triloba, the papaw, pawpaw, paw paw, or paw-paw is the largest edible fruit indigenous to the United States (get out of here gourds, we all know you are a vegetable). Paw paw are native to North Carolina and when we started building Carolina Malt House we noticed that there were some native paw paw trees growing on the property! So after planting a few more trees we have finally been able to harvest the fruits of our labor and we enjoyed the paw paw fruit with some freshly whipped cream. Mieux vaut mourir de rire, que souffrir de la solitude. Ces sages paroles sont les mots dune dame de 102 ans. Elle était la plus allumée et en forme dun CHSLD que jai visité dernièrement. Jtai sûr quelle avait genre... 80 ans. 😉 Je suis TELLEMENT content de pouvoir retourner à lintérieur des CHSLD!!! 😁 Depuis environ 2 semaines, jen visite régulièrement. Dont un CHSLD à côté de chez nous, où je vais aller à chaque semaine. ❤️ Les besoins ont toujours été très importants dans ces établissements que je connais bien... mais depuis la Covid, la détresse émotionnelle et la solitude se sont décuplées. Dans certains endroits, cest pratiquement 50% des gens qui sont décédés du virus... et parfois les gens nont pas pu sortir de leur chambre pendant presque 3 mois... avec quelques rares contacts humains. Bref, les gens sont vraiment contents de me voir!!! Et moi aussi! 😊 La réponse est encore plus immédiate que dhabitude. Souvent, jai encore rien fait quils éclatent de rire. Même si lobjectif de mes interventions (et du clown tout court) nest pas de faire rire... mais plutôt de créer un contact significatif et de redonner du pouvoir... le rire, ça fait toujours du bien! 😊 Ces visites ponctuelles, au delà de briser lisolement et de répandre du bonheur en cette période critique... me servent aussi de phase exploratoire. Japprends à connaitre et découvrir différent établissements; leur réalité, leur besoins, leurs enjeux, etc. Avec en tête plein didées pour y développer des projets sur le long terme... pour dispatcher dautres clowns. 😉 Dailleurs, vous avez été plus dune centaine cette semaine à mécrire pour savoir comment devenir clown thérapeutique et pour avoir de linformation sur nos formations. Je suis désolé, mais je nai pas encore de réponses pour vous. On espère pouvoir reprendre nos formations bientôt. Living in India is a daily battle. Sometimes the water supply goes off, sometimes the power breaks down. Sometimes supply chains get thrown off, sometimes the taps begin leaking. Sometimes the internet conks off, sometimes the roof begins to drip. Then there’s local politics and occasionally the water literally turns murky. I rant from a place of absolute privilege, I know that. I shudder to think how those less privileged than me manage with the excessive rain, heat and cold, and lack of consistent water and electricity. Yet having had the opportunity to live in other developing and developed parts of the world over the past few years, I sorely miss the solid infrastructure and ease of living. But despite the challenges, every morning (when I manage to wake up) and evening, the sky turns red, orange, pink and purple! On hot sultry afternoons, a family of otters come swimming to the water body near us. Butterflies and dragonflies flutter around me in the wilderness. And fireflies glow outside our window at night. I often feel like I’m living in two parallel worlds simultaneously. One which I largely managed to escape so far, and one which I’ve been chasing all along! It was amazing and I felt incredibly comfortable and confident. If you have been following me for a while you know that my riding learning experience has been far from consistent and that has sometimes felt really hard, on my body and my confidence on the horse.
