Independence and Partition. Forever twinned. Iftakhr was in Delhi 73 years ago today, watching the fireworks, celebrating freedom from the British. Weeks later he fled to Pakistan. He came to Britain in 1951, where he still lives. “India was mine as well,” he says. Everytime I hear him say these five words on my recording, it makes me cry. It’s the way he says them. Emphatic. Imploring. Wistful. It’s what he feels about the place of his birth, and where he lived for the first 16 years of his life. He adds, “no one can take that away from me.” The bureaucrats who drew the border line cannot erase history, memories, emotions. Iftakhr’s mother is still buried in India’s earth. Nirmal fled Lahore in August 1947 to India. She never returned again. But the first 17 years in Lahore were, she says, the happiest of her life. When she died her daughter wanted her ashes taken from Britain to be scattered in Lahore. “That was her home. That’s where she belonged. And we wanted to take her home.” Stories like these across Britain from a generation that were born under colonial rule. They were witnesses to the bloody end of empire, and migrated to Britain and fought hard to be accepted here and make it their home. They are our link to a time we shall soon only read of in history books. They are living and breathing, not statues. A dwindling generation. They feel a myriad of emotions on this day of Independence and Partition. But we should ask and listen to their stories before it is too late. RODIN-I DISEGNI PROIBITI (MUSEE RODIN-RIZZOLI, PP 272, EURO 39). A 100 anni dalla morte di Auguste Rodin viene svelata la raccolta inedita di disegni erotici che lo scultore francese aveva custodito gelosamente in un misterioso cartone classificato come Museo Segreto. La collezione venne scoperta proprio alla scomparsa dellartista, il 17 novembre 1917, e a mostrarla e ora il libro Rodin-I disegni proibiti che esce per Rizzoli, in collaborazione con il Musee Rodin di Parigi di cui e direttrice dal 2012 Catherine Chevillot, autrice della prefazione, e con i testi di Nadine Lehni, decana del museo parigino. Allinterno del cartone, 121 fogli con disegni e acquarelli che restituiscono una frenesia creativa audace, tanto piu se si pensa che Rodin aveva superato la sessantina mentre creava quelle opere in cui il sesso e protagonista, scandalose per lepoca e straordinariamente moderne. Sono nudi di donna in pose indecenti, quasi acrobatiche che diventano una sfrontata galleria che celebra lautoerotismo e lomosessualita femminile. La collezione completa dei capolavori erotici di Rodin, viene illustrata nel dettaglio dalla Lehni, responsabile dei disegni e dipinti del Musee Rodin, e illuminata dalla prefazione della Chevillot. Rodin scelse di esplorare il disegno erotico non per provocare, ma per cogliere cio che da sempre inseguiva: la vita, il flusso vitale sottolinea la Chevillot. E spiega come il corpus di disegni segreti rappresenti piu di ogni altra cosa uno spostamento delle categorie. Quella dellerotismo innanzitutto, che in Rodin non e mai sinonimo di voyeurismo, di licenziosita, di oscenita. Lartista, nato a Parigi nel 1840 da una famiglia di umili origini, ha inventato un disegno nuovo e grazie a questa esplorazione dei corpi nudi di donne e tornato, ormai ultrasessantenne, lui stesso alla vita. Con le modelle, come ricorda la Lehni, riusciva a instaurare un clima di fiducia che gli permetteva di ottenere una partecipazione totale. La cosa sorprendente e che questi nudi femminili, decontestualizzati, totalmente affrancati da ogni accademismo cosi come da ogni tabu morale, bastano a se stessi come viene sottolineato nel libro - @eroticsnake on Instagram

When I was 17 my mother wanted me to get a prestigious internship. I wanted to be outside. Tired of trying to convince me to work my way into a state senator’s office, my mother instead encouraged me to call the phone number listed on the honey jar she bought at the local farmers market. I dialed those digits and my life shifted forever. I began beekeeping as a teenager in Minnesota where I apprenticed with beekeeper Brian Frederickson of @amesfarm for the summer. With several hundred hives to manage, we spent every good-weather day tending hives and I was exposed to the full operation of making a life with bees. Working with bees at that age was formative and I was hooked - every night my dreams had bees buzzing at the periphery, and the memories of catching a swarm far outweighed any stings I had sustained. At the time I was curious, passionate, and my love of bees felt intuitive. Now, I can better articulate the ways that this practice aligns with many of my core values and aspirations for my life. I hope to live conscious of the environment and ever learning from the cadence of the natural world around me. Most of all, I want to share this perspective, this love of honey bees and pollinators. Mas, será que a casa nova era? 🔻Coraline e seus pais se mudaram para um complexo de apartamento, onde a parte de baixo da casa moravam duas senhoras que se diziam atrizes aposentadas e na parte de cima um senhorzinho estranho, ex cirscense que fala com os ratos. 🔻Seus pais eram muito ocupados e Coraline era a única criança naquele lugar, em um dia chuvoso Coraline foi proibida de explorar o lado de fora do apartamento, então, como os seus pais estavam ocupados demais para brincar com ela, pediram-na que explorasse dentro do apartamento. 🔻Em meio a essa exploração Coraline encontra uma porta misteriosa que aparentemente está trancada, imediatamente ela chama a sua mãe e pergunta para onde dá aquela porta, a mãe destranca a porta e mostra a coraline que a porta não dá a lugar algum, e, que era apenas uma parede de tijolos. Um dia Coraline se encontra sozinha no apartamento e resolve abrir novamente a porta, e percebe que no lugar onde antes era uma parede de tijolos se encontrava um corredor escuro. 🔻Como uma boa exploradora que é, ela resolve explorar para vê onde vai dá esse corredor. Para quem já conhece a história ou já assistiu ao filme o resultado desse rolê dela HAHA. A conclusão que eu tive desse livro é que eu não tenho nem 1% da coragem que essa guria teve.Inclusive, tive um certo receio de começar essa leitura, pois, por mais que seja uma história de terror mais voltada ao público infantil, eu tenho um cagaço enorme de filmes/livros que envolvem crianças(me julguem), mas, foi uma leitura suave, fluida e bem gostosinha, super indico para quem quer sair da ressaca. At 40, Franz Kafka (1883-1924), who never married and had no children, walked through the park in Berlin when he met a girl who was crying because she had lost her favourite doll. She and Kafka searched for the doll unsuccessfully. Kafka told her to meet him there the next day and they would come back to look for her. The next day, when they had not yet found the doll, Kafka gave the girl a letter written by the doll saying please dont cry. I took a trip to see the world. I will write to you about my adventures. Thus began a story which continued until the end of Kafkas life. During their meetings, Kafka read the letters of the doll carefully written with adventures and conversations that the girl found adorable. Finally, Kafka brought back the doll (he bought one) that had returned to Berlin. It doesnt look like my doll at all, said the girl. Kafka handed her another letter in which the doll wrote: my travels have changed me. the little girl hugged the new doll and brought her happy home. A year later Kafka died. Many years later, the now-adult girl found a letter inside the doll. In the tiny letter signed by Kafka it was written: Everything you love will probably be lost, but in the end, love will return in another way.
