Kohler-Andrae State Park, Sheboygan County. We hiked through three or four different areas: a wooded trail, a marshy boardwalk, over the sand dunes, and along the Lake Michigan shoreline. THE BORDERS, SCOTLAND I had been travelling in the border country and from a busy road I saw this post and rail fence and was immediately compelled to turn round and retrace my steps. This fence was so much more than a mere structure. It was a masterpiece . I wished to meet the person who made this work, to encourage them to talk me through it, to acquaint me with every hazard, every joy of its construction and o know something of their elation at the end of their toils. Like the autumn ploughman looking back at his furrows so accurately aligned, there is pleasure in accuracy. Once there was a type of film available with a dedicated speed of one thousand asa. It had certain applications and its boost was grain and accordingly low contrast. Like many I cared for it deeply. Sadly, it was withdrawn, but a few months beforehand, a photographer friend in the USA panicked and acquired a thousand rolls, such was his addiction. I had not waned to use a fine grain film here. The wooden fence I felt should not appear too invasive upon the land. I hoped that the coarseness of the film would unify fence, hill and grass.The wood of the fence had weathered, and its warm silvery grey sat well on the slope of the November grass. Thankfully, there was no vivid blue in the sky to conflict with the browns and steely greys. G.G. And Nana Ruth from “Family Matters” I’m know my grandmothers met at various points, but Nana Ruth died when I was 5 or 6 so I have no recollection of any of these encounters, and can’t fathom what these two women made of each other. My mother’s mother, who became GG when her first great grandchild was born, grew up affluent Ohio. Nana Ruth came to this country as an immigrant from Ukraine and remained poor,not speaking particularly great English, for her entire life. The most distinct memory I have of Nana Ruth is her placing me on the bathroom counter, taking out her false teeth, and showing me how she brushed them. GG, on the other hand, is someone I knew well into my adult life, and I didn’t know she wore false teeth until after she died. Her hair, makeup, and nails, were perfectly done at all times. Cａｐíｔｕｌｏ 213~ Díａ95 / Nｕｅｖａ ｎｏｒｍａｌｉｄａｄ. ⠀ Quien pasaría una noche aquí? ⠀ Un día a pasado rápido y aquí os traigo lo que prometí. ⠀ El post de ayer, es la vista de Shirakawago desde lo alto del mirador. ⠀ Fue declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en 1995 y no me extraña. ⠀ En la aldea, nos encontramos con sus casas típicas de estilo gassho-zukuri, tan características y construidas, como podéis observar en las fotos, de forma para aguantar el peso de la nieve. ⠀ Algunas de ellas tienen más de 250 años y en la actualidad, la gran mayoría, funcionan como museos, restaurantes y alojamientos. ⠀ A ver quien puede decírmelo! ⠀ En la segunda foto, da para pensar mal, pero no. Parece lo que es, pero no es así. Esas tres estatuas representan a 3 personas, me lo dijeron en su momento y no lo recuerdo😅.
