*Important note about letrozole at bottom* Got to see my little gummy bear wiggling around yesterday, measuring ahead at 9 weeks! I really can’t stress enough how important it is to advocate for yourself on this journey. Two different Drs told me losing babies back to back was “normal” and there was nothing to be done. Well that’s simply not the truth, and I’m living proof of that. My babies weren’t just dying for no reason. If your Dr is brushing you off, you feel they aren’t listening to you and aren’t willing to go down every possible avenue, FIND A NEW DR! I did eventually find my RE who not only listened, he spoke the words I desperately needed to hear.. “you absolutely have an issue going on and I’m going to fix it. A young woman doesn’t just lose 3 babies in a row.” I just graduated from that dr after only 4 months! *A quick note about letrozole, the medication I used for this pregnancy. There is a lot of confusion out there as to why this medication would be used in a recurrent pregnancy loss situation... Many of us who are or have gone through multiple losses do not have an issue getting pregnant. In fact, most get pregnant every time they try. Most of us (me included) ovulate without issue every month, have normal cycles, and everything on paper looks perfect. So the question is, why letrozole? I ovulate on my own already and get pregnant easily... I don’t need that! Well, for women who have issues with ovulation or long cycles, yes, letrozole will help them ovulate! But for woman who don’t have that issue, letrozole is STRICTLY to boost egg quality which is, much of the time, the issue that’s causing early loss! Letrozole will not only boost quality, but will grow more eggs. Used with the trigger shot, which will cause your body to ovulate all mature eggs, having multiple eggs drop ups your chances one of those eggs is of good quality! Our little girl came early! 😍 Rose Marie Elizabeth Malig Marquez. Born January 19th (Capricorn season! 💪) at 3lbs 2oz. 15. Sem dúvidas o acontecimento mais marcante na vida de um casal é quando eles se tornam país pela primeira vez. E para nós homens, especialmente, a ideia de ser pai nos enche de orgulho, principalmente se o filho for um menino. Mas é muito comum encontrar homens que sentem um certo medo, ou até desespero quando lhe perguntam sobre filhos. Ao contrário das mulheres, onde é mais fácil encontrar quem deseja muito ser mãe. Mas porque será que nós homens, em geral, temos mais medo de ter filhos que as mulheres? Acredito que esse medo ou desespero, seja porque não nos ensinaram a ser pais. Só nos ensinaram a sermos fortes e a pagar as contas. Dificilmente vemos homens que sabem qual o seu real papel na família. Também é difícil ver homens compartilhando entre si as experiências da paternidade. Quando nos reunimos, é só para falar de negócios, política e muitas besteiras. O que chamamos de “assuntos de homem”. Ainda vivemos os reflexos de uma geração onde o dever do homem era trabalhar para sustentar sua família e a educação dos filhos ficava à cargo da mulher. Nossa lei, por exemplo, garante uma licença-paternidade de apenas 20 dias, no máximo, enquanto que para as mães a licença é de 120 dias, podendo chegar a 180. É muito comum ver pais (jovens até) que entregam a maior parte das responsabilidades com os filhos para as mães. A educação dos filhos deve ser compartilhada entre o casal e cada um desempenha um papel diferente e complementar. Não estou falando de fazer dormir, dar banho, levar para a creche ou ensinar a tabuada. Esses são deveres e qualquer um pode fazer. O papel é individual e tem a ver com os valores que transmitimos para os nossos filhos. Se nós homens tivéssemos o conhecimento desse papel que devemos exercer, o medo de ser pai seria muito menor e o desejo muito maior. Confesso que antes eu tinha um pouco de medo sim. I snapped these photos a year ago today. I was “a little bit in labor” as I refer to my multiple days of early labor (though I wasn’t totally sure of it at the time) and I sensed that this might be my last chance to capture the two of us together like this. I didn’t take a lot of photos when I was pregnant with Otis. Most days I felt big and bloated and not at all beautiful. How silly that all seems now, to judge a body that is literally creating life. I am endlessly grateful to this body for growing and nourishing my baby - and for keeping me functioning while doing it. What an awesome, magical, impossibly wild privilege it is to become a home for another human. Can’t believe the tiny guy in my belly here turns ✨1✨ tomorrow - @victoriacairo on Instagram

Day before I gave birth yeah I look crazy but you carry two little human beings their individual sacs and individual placentas up to 34 weeks. At this point I was still mobile i drove myself to my delivery 😂😂. No one tells you how long hard and sometimes lonely the journey into mother good can be. No one tells you you’ll look and feel crazy months after the fact. Pregnancy is beautiful but only Bc of the struggle women go through different hardships during pregnancy and it doesn’t down play anyone’s experience. Post partum is hard af to get through but you will make it to the other side. Your kids will be beautiful no matter what and you will love them. I’m here to tell you some days will be hard most days you will be tired. You may become depressed you may ask yourself why but I promise when your baby comes you will know why. It’s no rush to adjust to regular life after giving birth. It’s been quite around here because I recently endured a miscarriage. I have thought long and hard about if I wanted to share this part of my story. I needed a few weeks to attempt to grieve. October is pregnancy and infant loss awareness month. We are still nagivagating through. However, I wanted to honor our baby and bring awareness for all the women and families who suffer from this. After treatmeant for AML-APL leukemia I was told I most likely would not have more children. We have pursued some other options and every other option has been a, “no.” I don’t share every detail but I have shared a lot because AWARENESS is SO important! I now know the agony of losing a baby. I’m so so sorry for anyone who has endured the phyiscal and emotional pain and trauma caused by this. Or any type of infertility! Or any type of longing for something or missing someone. It has affected me in ways I could have never imagined and as you know we have been through a lot. This is a different pain. Leukemia is traumatizing, any life altering illness is. This is a different traumatizing! It’s not one and done after a few days or weeks. Cancer isn’t ether but it’s another hard I’m trying to learn to live with. I’ve needed time to physically go through it because the phyiscal effects are painful. However the emotional part is worse. I have shared my thyroid has had issues since I finished chemo. I didn’t realize how important normal range thyroid levels are crucial to how our the human bodies function. Especially how even more critical/life threatening it is for a healthy pregnancy. So once I learned I was pregnant my hematologist also ordered remission labs and thyroid labs and learned my thyroid had plummeted. I had emergency thyroid care and medications, adjustments to medications dosages, plus the fluctuation of hormonal levels due to being pregnant and then then going through a miscarriage. We were so HAPPY the past few months. We almost made it to 11 weeks. I was in almost its, “too good to be true,” denial but also overjoyed our precious miracle baby. *Continued in comments - @leslietysselingbeauty on Instagram

Papá suele ser el gran olvidado durante el embarazo, quizás porque inconscientemente, la sociedad piensa que la sensibilidad, los miedos, la ansiedad y las dudas son atributos que forman parte del universo femenino (pensamientos que recaen en la desigualdad de género, algo que deberíamos esforzarnos por erradicar). A papá le toca vivir los cambios físicos y emocionales en mamá, experimentar la ansiedad frente a cada prueba y ecografía pero siempre como un espectador externo. Acompañando pero muchas veces sintiéndose como un extraño y sin saber qué hacer. Y es que el desafío hoy en día implica asumir un rol muy distinto para el cual muchos no han sido preparados, ya sea debido a modelos familiares antiguos, por el imaginario social que vemos en las películas y literatura o por la influencia de los medios de comunicación, papá muchas veces se queda sintiéndose fuera de. Es importante recordar que la presencia de papá constituirá un apoyo insustituible para la futura madre y que deberá también formar un vinculo con ese bebé. Apoyemos más a los padres, brindemos mayores espacios para que ellos hablen de sus preocupaciones, sus miedos y sus expectativas sobre la paternidad. Você já ouviu falar do formato de adaga na ecocardiografia? É o que encontramos nesse paciente!⠀ ⠀ Esses são os exames de um dachshund que apresentava sopro sistólico durante a auscultação. Ao realizarmos o ecocardio nós vimos um ventrículo esquerdo muito hipertrofiado. Não, não é o ventrículo de um gato (mas parece, não é?)! ⠀ ⠀ A hipertrofia é tão significativa que há uma obstrução da passagem do sangue do ventrículo esquerdo para a aorta, formando turbilhonamento na via de saída do VE, com aumento de velocidade.⠀ ⠀ Nós conseguimos observar esse aumento de velocidade com o Doppler contínuo, que estava muito elevada (está em 528 cm/s, o normal é até 200), formando esse formato de adaga (dagger shape) no eco. ⠀ ⠀ Um dos diferenciais é hipertensão arterial sistêmica, além deste paciente ter sinais de hiperadreno, que é a nossa suspeita clínica principal.⠀ ⠀ #cardiology #ecocardio #veterinarycardiology #cardiologiaveterinaria #cardiovet #vetcardio #veterinaria #medvet #cardiologiavet #ecocardiograma #eletrocardiograma #ecg #vetcardiology #echocardiography #daggershape - @animalcor on Instagram
