When little Lucy entered the world, she gave her parents, Lisa and Josh, two surprises. One: an extra chromosome. And two: a stay in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or NICU.⁣ ⁣ Despite an uncomplicated delivery at their hospital in Fort Collins, when nurses placed Lucy on Lisa’s chest, she had trouble breathing. Doctors whisked her off to the hospital’s NICU, where they determined she needed supportive care and intestinal surgery. Lucy was transferred to our hospital in Aurora, where she could receive a thorough evaluation, surgery and the highest level of care available from our neonatal specialists.⁣ ⁣ Having a child in the NICU is tough. Having a child in the NICU during a pandemic is tougher. While we do everything we can to make a stay in the NICU as comfortable as possible, our enhanced safety precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic mean that siblings can’t stop by. But fortunately for our NICU families, there’s Stephanie, a child life specialist dedicated to helping patients, siblings and parents throughout their stay.⁣ ⁣ Using a special telepresence robot dubbed “Robecca,” Stephanie gave Lucy’s older siblings a day to remember. On day six of Lucy’s two-week stay, Gianna, Noah and Elijah met their sister – virtually. Guiding Robecca from outside the hospital, they completed visitor screening and rode the glass elevators to our fourth floor, where they checked in at the NICU desk. Navigating their way through the halls of our NICU, they found their sister, wide awake and very talkative. HOW MUCH NIPPLE & BREAST PAIN IS NORMAL? This is the million-dollar question. Some moms are told that a little nipple pain is normal in the early days of breastfeeding – others are told it’s never normal and is a problem. The answer lies somewhere in the middle, though anytime you experience pain that is bothering you, especially if it is coupled with other breastfeeding concerns, you should feel free to address these with a lactation consultant or breastfeeding helper. In general, the rule of thumb is that if you feel a little tugging or pulling at the beginning of a breastfeeding session, but the pain seems to go away soon after your baby starts suckling, it’s probably nothing to be concerned about. However, if the pain is strong, long-lasting — and if it causes any nipple damage, it’s something that should be addressed as soon as possible. Bleeding nipples, cracked nipples, pinched nipples, and nipples that look like a tube of lipstick after they come out of your baby’s mouth could indicate a latching issue, and usually require some hands-on help or latching adjustments to fix. Keep in mind, though, that these sorts of problems are common and are almost always fixable with a little care and assistance. Finally sharing Baby Pierce’s nursery reveal! ♡ I had such a vision of what I wanted his nursery to be. I started with the green accent wall (paint color is Hunter Green by Benjamin Moore), natural wood crib, tufted fringe rug and went from there. His dresser/changing table is my grandparents’ dresser - we used chalk paint to paint it white and I switched out the hardware for these gold handles. This is extra special to me since we gave Pierce his middle name, Howard, after my grandparents as well. Then, adding in all the little details and decor really made the room come together - it feels so cozy and we have spent a LOT of time in here since P was born! Как я чуть не завалила экзамен… 🇩🇪 siehe in Kommentare ⬇️ ⠀ Помните, я рассказывала о том, что прохожу курс инстабрендинга в @miagency.ru чтобы повысить квалификацию и работать с людьми из мира бизнеса? ⠀ Для того, чтобы стать Brand Фотографом, нужно сдать экзамен: провести Brand-фотосессию. Звучит просто, но на самом деле это целая система по выявлению задач клиента, доскональная подготовка образа и позиционирования для Инстаграм-странички.. Ох, в два слова не уместить - потом расскажу подробнее. Одна такая съемка закрывает контент клиента минимум на 1 месяц. ⠀ Вы представляете, сколько на это требуется времени? Особенно когда делаешь первый раз: проведение брифа и обсуждение всех нюансов, анализ профиля, подготовка презентации/гайда для клиента… Чтооооо, как это дети опять не могут пойти в садик и весь день дома?🤯 ⠀ И вот я понимаю, что не успею подготовиться к экзамену до отпуска, нахожу подходящего человека в Испании, чтобы поработать там, но вдруг фотосессия отменяется😩 Сроки поджимают, и непонятно как искать в чужой стране русскоговорящего (да, май инглиш из вери бед), который хочет Brand съемку вот прямщас. Все, не судьба? ⠀ Но Я ХОЧУ! Я готова выходить на новый уровень! ⠀ Тогда я попросила своего преподавателя Лену Минт @lena.mint о помощи. И она посоветовала нескольких человек, одна из них как раз была Юля @juliabase.me (это ее фото в карусели). Как только я увидела профиль Юли - сразу написала именно ей🤞🏻 И все идеально совпало! ⠀ В сжатые сроки мы договорились о съемке с невероятной Юлей. Она оказалась настолько жизнерадостной, настоящей и солнечной (между прочим она коуч и мать уже 4х! детей), что мой внутренний энерджайзер включился на 200%! ⠀ Я обожаю свою работу за то, что она приносит в мою жизнь новых людей. Увидев Юлю и ее родных, я четко осознала, что иду верным путем и могу добиться всего, в чем раньше сомневалась. HAPPY 1️⃣0️⃣1️⃣❕Throwback because this year with pandemic we could not throw a party for our Queen Libra, Great Nana. Yep, she is 101 years old! She still has a sharp mind and no sign of slowing down. I’m amazed at her spirit and energy and zest for life. I still remember her teaching me how to make her famous chicken and dumplins using a pressure cooker(not an instant pot, THE REAL THING), and she taught me how to make gravy! Nana would always make sure you washed your hands the moment you walked through the door...she was ahead of her time 😷. But my favorite thing I love about Nana is her appetite! She can EAT!!! DAY 284: Hope Prior to CBD Lulu was in a pretty bad way. Drs recommending aggressive brain surgery. Her brain in ruins, as the spasms ravaged. Just cut it out Erin. Be scared of the spasms, not the surgery Erin. I’m equally petrified of both. But all along, I felt deep to my core, that currently, surgery is not the answer, & moving to CBD proved my instincts right. Then after speaking to my new found friends at @medcan_ & working very closely with their team for guidance, we recently increased the CBD dose, & now - it’s like pedal to the metal! She’s flying!! Bye Mum! Back later! Don’t wait up! Me awake until all hours, waiting to hear her turn of the key. I pray that day comes. Drs have strongly suggested what’s called a ‘corpus callosotomy’, mainly as investigative surgery. In lay terms it involves disconnecting the two halves of the brain so they no longer communicate. This would hopefully allow Drs to see which side of the brain is projecting the most epileptic activity, as previously it was too wide spread to tell. And after finally getting EEG results, we have some good news! Fk me, finally a win! To explain simply, let’s assume 100 is the worst, and zero being the best. Each of the hemispheres of Lulu’s brain were previously at 90. Yep. But now.... The left size is 60 and the right is 20! But - Just cut it out hey Erin. Drs orders. Arguably, the surgery Drs wanted to do, I have achieved through CBD. Without surgery, I have helped to confirm that her epilepsy is mainly left sided. To be fair, that’s what has been assumed all along. But instead of cutting her brain in two & forcing irreparable deficits on her, I have achieved the same result. Are the spasms still there. Yes. Are they possibly still causing damage. Yes But without CBD, her brain would have been cut in two unnecessarily. Yet, the CBD approach is considered an offence? Luella is loving proof it works, yet here we all are. Restricted. Could we still end up looking down the barrel of surgery. Maybe. But for now it’s agreed with Drs that we will approach her treatment with a NON-surgical path. And that to me, is just fking awesome! Keep going my baby girl! Kein Bild könnte besser ausdrücken, wie viel Liebe Tom für Piet empfindet und wie wunderbar er seit Piets Geburt in seine Rolle als großer Bruder hineingewachsen ist. ❤️ Und wie ich schon mal erzählte, war Tom zu Beginn der Schwangerschaft am skeptischsten dem neuen Baby gegenüber. Doch mit jeder verstrichenen Schwangerschaftswoche wuchs erst seine Neugierde, dann seine Vorfreude. Und bereits viel früher, als wir erwartet hatten, flammte eine richtig starke Geschwisterliebe in ihm auf, obwohl Piet zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch im Bauch war. Micha und ich dachten, die neue Zeit mit Piet würde Tom am schwersten fallen, weil er bis dato das Nesthäkchen in unserer Familie gewesen war. Ich hätte mit Eifersucht gerechnet, vielleicht auch mit etwas Unverständnis für Piets 24/7-Bedürfnisse. Aber nichts da! Weder Eifersucht noch Unverständnis. I asked if you guys wanted to hear Ensley’s birth story and it was an overwhelming yes! As most of you know Ensley was supposed to be due September 3rd. I really thought she was going to come early just not THIS early. On July 25th I woke up at about 5:45 am thinking I had wet the bed, but I quickly realized my water had broke. I called the OB on call to see what they wanted me to do and it didn’t really sink in that I was in labor until the doctor told us to head to the hospital. That’s when the panic really set in 😅 I frantically paced around my house and tried to think of everything I’d need. I ended up just grabbing my charger and my wallet 😂 and out the door we went. We got to the hospital around 6:45 am, they determined my water did in fact break and they got us settled into a room. I was having some mild cramps in my lower abdomen but nothing severe or regular. They told me that we would labor until noon and see where I was at. If I wasn’t progressing enough they would start me on Pitocin then. I had dilated to a 2 from 6 am to noon so they started the Pitocin and that really got the ball rolling 😅 Up until then I had been having more regular contractions but there was plenty of time between contractions to rest. After they started the Pitocin the contractions felt like they were constant and getting more intense with every one. Around 2:30 I asked for an epidural. Without the Pitocin I feel like I really could have labored a lot further naturally but not having time to rest between contractions was challenging. An hour later I struck a fever and they told me I had something called Chorioamnionitis, where the membranes around the fetus get a bacterial infection. They gave me antibiotics to fight the infection before delivery. By 4 pm I was dilated to a 4 and by 6 pm I was complete at 10 cm. I actually didn’t get to start pushing until almost 8:30 so I literally took a two hour nap before I had Ensley 😂 When it was finally time to push I was excited to finally meet our baby girl but so nervous as any new mom is I think! I pushed for an hour and a half and we finally got to meet our baby! *Continued in the comments* - @hettlaura on Instagram

Nie we wszystkich utworach, ale w sporej większości. Wszystko inne było eksperymentem, który być może w nieco zbyt pobieżnym słuchaniu wydaje się czymś nowym. W fotografii ciągle próbujemy pokazać świat po swojemu, nadać zdjęciom nasz charakter, potem zmieniamy, ale czy słusznie? A Sunday well spent, brings a week of content. I’ve struggled with that ‘well spent’ part. Feeling like I have to be productive yet wanting to relax, but can’t relax too much because you know, gotta get stuff done 🤪 I’m learning that I have to find a balance between being productive and relaxing, between family time and getting some alone time. Baking, laundry, and shopping make me feel productive but are also relaxing to me so those are my go-to’s if I’m solo with the kids!
