Without this guy, there might be no Jaju Pierogi ☝️ . Nearly five years ago, after toying with our grandfathers recipes for a few months on the kitchen table, we were looking for an official kitchen to start our business. We had checked out commissary kitchens, but decided they were too expensive given how labor intensive pierogi are. One day, we walked into a deli in Beverly and asked for the manager. Paul greeted us, and we pitched him the idea of renting their prep space for a few hours a week. Paul didnt hesitate. He gave us a great deal, and all the flexibility in the world for storage and extra hours. He taught us basics, he was patient, he was consultative. Paul didnt know us - two random girls proposing to make pierogi (odd!) - but he took a gamble on us and our business, and we are eternally grateful. Last week, Jim Wrinn retired from the Norwalk PD where he served as a dispatcher for over 20 years. Jim achieved a multitude of personal and professional accomplishments over the years: Veteran of the US Army, City of Norwalk Parade Marshal, a Moderator of Elections in Norwalk. He has also served as: President and VP of the Norwalk Athletic Association, VP of Norwalk Youth Football, President of Norwalk Cal Ripen Baseball, President of Norwalk Girls Basketball board member of Norwalk Pop Warner Cheerleading. Jim has also coached Norwalk Youth Football, Cal Ripen Baseball, Norwalk Girls Basketball, and Norwalk Junior Soccer. So the President of the United States knew and understood back in February that Covid was a threat to Americans. He knew in February that it was airborne and more deadly than the flu. He could have done something, anything better than telling the lies that resulted in so many deaths. I know that we had a good outcome, but I keep thinking about the nightmare we went through not knowing if my husband would come home from the hospital. Not to mention, at the beginning when my son got sick and I prayed that he would get better. I somehow, somewhere got Covid and maybe if Trump had informed the country what we were in for, I would have stayed home and not brought it home to my family. But because of his deceit and incompetence we, and everyone else who got sick early on, didn’t have that choice. This picture is from the second time my husband was in the hospital. Its crazy how meeting someone can change the course of your life. On New Years Eve 2015, I met Mark Razz from @925xtu at Prospectors, a country bar in South Jersey. It was super random that my friends and I were even there, although Im pretty sure it had something to do with the $30 all night open bar. 😜 We saw Razz broadcasting live and when he was off air we went up to meet him. Ann and Noel run a care service based in Scunthorpe and have used their expertise to help several projects aiming to improve diabetes support for care home residents. BIG DAY FOR BETHPAGE!!! Northrop/Grumman has started remediation of the Bethpage Community Ballfield this week, which has been closed for 18 years! Northrop/Grumman invited Bethpage Water and the Bethpage Fire Department to see the vapor soil equipment which is the first step in the cleanup process. If everything goes well the ballfield will be open by spring of 2022 in time for the children of Bethpage to be able to play little league once again. The cleanup along with the BWD’s construction up by Campagne School of a water source outside the plume are positive signs for our residents that the plume will soon be a thing of the past!! He’s a software engineer in our Technology team, who was born with profound hearing loss. “It presents enormous challenges mentally and without auditory feedback, it’s like the brain has no rudder,” he says as part of our ongoing Faces of Tabcorp series. Anthony was thrilled when several meeting rooms at Tabcorp’s new state-of-the-art office in Brisbane were installed with a hearing-loop system, but when COVID-19 hit and homes became offices, Anthony was determined to keep effectively communicating. He uses Microsoft Teams and Skype for daily team meetings, enabling closed captioning or a lapel adapter to link his hearing aid with the computer. As endless commentators rushing to predict how the world 🌎 will be remade in the wake of coronavirus pandemic, greater use of home-working has been heralded as the way of the future. Twitter has told employers they could work from home permanently and US insurer Nationwide is also moving to make 98% of its workforce home-bound. But where are the pundits defending our right to a separation from work and home , which can only truly come from an office base ? There must be many of us out there for whom the zealous visions of Twitter or Nationwide hold zero appeal. Let’s hear it for those moments that we can not recreate working from home- the office chitchat that keeps you in the information loop without endless messaging; candid face to face meetings that help you to build new relationships; or just simple pleasure of seeing more faces and a world beyond your four walls. I am sure that removing commuting and work travel has been a great boon for some people, and interesting experiment for many more. But there are whole groups of people working from home is narrowing rather expanding the scope of professional lives. For that reason , the most disadvantaged are likely to be the youngest generation in a workplace- those who benefit the most from informal workplace learning via office chat and quick check-ins that are more awkward to arrange over Zoom or Teams. Across all of September, it’s been #childhoodcancerawarenessmonth. Cancer at any age is something that no one should have to go through. But at whatever stage you are in your life, it comes with different challenges. It goes without saying the NHS are incredible and such an invaluable asset that we are so lucky to have. But charities are also a big part of supporting you through treatment and remission stages. Because of COVID, the amazing work that these charities do has been severely impacted and I wanted to take this opportunity to shout about some of the charities that have helped me over the years. Of course, I start with @greatormondst who ran various activities and support to make you and your family feel as comfortable as possible during your time there. The miracles they perform in that hospital still amaze me to this day and I owe my life to them. @macmillancancer were crucial in the transition between hospital and re-adjusting to home life. Their nurses would come round fairly regularly to carry out minor checks and tests to make sure things were as they should be and help answer any questions you might have, trying to get back to normal life. @emctrust were influential in the long-term remission phase. They take young people that have gone through cancer or illness on sailing trips, to rebuild their confidence. The work they do is key in getting people back into a sense of ‘life routine’ that you’ve lost from going through such an experience. On the face of it, it sounds like these little things that you become out of touch with aren’t important, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The trips also act as a forum for people that have been through similar experiences and really helps alleviate thoughts such as ‘survivors guilt’ after treatment - something of which the effect is completely undersold to those who haven’t been through such an experience. I have no doubt that there are MANY other charities that helped, without me even realising, but these are just some that helped me through it all and out the other side. If you can donate anything or show your support, I have no doubt they’ll be forever grateful, now more than ever. - @this_ispeachy on Instagram

A few pieces of wisdom he wants to share with you guys: “In the Bible it says that where there is no vision, the people perish, so start visualizing yourself doing all of the things you want to do. Make sure you are working in the right direction; if you want to watch the sunset you have to be looking to the west. A lot of people are working hard but they have no direction. Pray bold prayers. Thank God for abundance, good health, favor, blessings, opportunity, wisdom, guidance, discernment, and most of all, a double portion of gratitude. What changed my life was two fish and five loaves of bread. Jesus didn’t complain, he thanked God first for what he had and then God multiplied it. Be grateful for what you have now. Give God an opportunity to multiply it. Never let the words “I can’t” come out of your mouth. Take that out of your vocabulary. If we say it in our family we have to do push-ups. Be careful with your words, whatever comes out of your mouth is what you’re going to get. Make Monday your favorite day of the week. Give back. Everybody has something to give.
