• ɪ́ɴsɪᴛᴏ ᴍᴀɢᴍᴀ • Estava pensando, será que não seríamos todos vulcões? Cada um com seu estopim e a carga explosiva? Pelo menos me considero um. Em minha percepção existiriam aqueles com erupções emocionais, provocando lágrimas e gritos, e as literais, nas quais pareceria que tudo que guarda de forma forçada sairia com um passe de mágica. Uma sensação antecipada de um aviso, um que sabia durante toda sua vida, mas preferiu ignorar, sendo que de algum modo essa alienação geraria uma felicidade só sua que ninguém poderia estragar, era o que pensava, até você enfim enfrentá-la e se dar conta de quanta lava dilapidada poderia ter evitado. Se ao menos tivesse antes mudado o que sabia estar errado, tirando esse peso da fumaça seguida da destruição em massa. Talvez depois de algum tempo possamos por um fim nessa queimação interior, vinda lá do fundo, lentamente, mesmo com seus grandes propósitos. Finalmente libertar o que está preso em seu âmago, botar para fora o que incomoda, ao invés de sempre deixar lá, causando danos para mais tarde voltar a seu lugar de origem. Um ciclo vicioso. Parece te agradar. Ao contrário, ele te prende e lhe faz esquecer de alguma vida fora de sua mente. MIDNIGHT ROBBER Braggart. Intimidator. Storyteller. The inspiration for this project is based solely around the Midnight Robber character. My grandfather was also a Midnight Robber. Inspired by the storytelling techniques of characters such as the Pierrot grenade and First Peoples, the Midnight Robber character was born. The stories are made up and prioritize boasting. The speeches they give to tell stories are a form of spoken word, called “Robber Talk. The long winded speeches, though they are not based on facts, are decorated with history and sometimes even references to the current political climate. In addition to the occasional facts, the robber brags about ancestry, fearlessness and exploits. Religion and astrology are popular references as well. Still, the main goal of the Midnight Robber stories are to brag and instill doom and fear. The Midnight Robber costume is typically an all black satin pants and top, fringed hat, and cape. Both the cape and hat are decorated with bones, skulls or with things that support the robber’s persona or story.  This character is one of the most popular, and rightfully so. Created during a time when the people of Trinidad were still very much oppressed, the art of this kind of storytelling was very much needed. Outside of carrying along stories filled with our ancestry, history and toils, we were able to create stories that glorified ourselves and our abilities. Boasting about invincibility, strength and fearlessness was just what we needed. *The last slide of this photoset contains a video, voiced by my grandfather, that provides an example of what Robber Talk is like. I’m not sure if y’all are aware but I work with some very fragile little ones. This past week has been heavy. Do your research and take this seriously. It doesn’t matter if you think you could fight it off if you get sick - it’s not about you - it’s about passing it to your elders, passing it to your friend with a heart condition, passing it to me where I could unknowingly give it to a 4 pound premature baby. I am staying home and distancing myself because I know that I put other people at risk if I don’t take responsibility. I’ve decided to only leave for essential prenatal appointments, postpartum care, and births. I’m trained to take all of the precautions. My husband has also taken a huge economic hit as he’s made the compassionate choice to shut the doors of his business. This was exstremly hard for me to do plus It took me a bit to figure out how I was making the edit but here it goes The Eilking in German romantic lititure portrays a man named sir oluf riding to a marriage he had happening but he had heard music from the elves. There he sees elverklonge’s daughter and invites the man to dance and have a good time, the man refuses and it angers her leaving her to strike him and send him away deathly pale. It is said that the fiancé of the man later found him the day of there wedding laying dead. #ODLETRAS Pra finalizar com chave de ouro essa semana incrível da Olimpíada das Letras, que o tema foi a editora Darkside (@darksidebooks). E pra esse desafio final, que é postar uma foto que represente meu amor pela Dark, escolhi como tema da minha foto Medo Clássico. Os livros na cesta são, respectivamente, Drácula e Frankenstein, ambos do século 19, dai a inspiração da roupa e do cenário (e também do filme Mary Shelley, a recomendação dele tá lá nos meus destaques). Cheguei na reta final da odletras, na última semana, e adorei a experiência de participar e de estar no grupo com tantas pessoas legais.
