The park stays empty for most of the days and I stand in the middle of it with a broken heart clutched between my palms like a sailor holds onto the mast in a sea storm. I remember how it was like to stop the car under old lamppost with the windows down and your hands scribbling on the back of my hands as the radio hits Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo and you raise the volume up. I always wondered how my father used to open the front gate so that mum doesnt have to leave the scooter to open it. Its a tender way to say I dont want you to stop for things that keep us away a moment longer. So when you say the drizzles pattering against the windows sounds like our names being shouted at the Church, I wanted to tell you that I too will open the front gate if that means you will always walk inside the house. You hand me back all my poems and letters and tell me that they dont feel large enough to hold both of us together and I could hear my chest prepare itself for a wild bang against the ribcage. The hug was a moment shorter then how I wanted it to be but you say its long enough for you to never remember it again. My father no longer waits for my mom to return and the gates are never opened. He keeps her picture near his study and stares at the old scooter as I drive past the lamppost. I will stop the car, and there will be the light drizzle of whatever is forgotten or being told to be remembered. The rain will patter against the windows, and the radio will hum Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo. But this time I will keep the windows up and the volume down. - @the.paper.poetry on Instagram

While I’m sad that this must come to an end, I am beyond happy and proud. I am proud that I have been privileged enough to be able to bring Nia Nal to life, and to have been able to be a part of her evolution into Dreamer. She has meant so much to so many, and it has been my complete honor to get to play her for the past few years. And though she was created especially for Supergirl, I think we can all agree that we haven’t seen the last of her, and I cannot wait to see where she pops up next. On a personal note, I have to give my love and gratitude for everyone who made this experience what it has been. New jobs are always scary, but I couldn’t have asked for a better set to walk on to. Right from the start, people were inviting and professional and kind, in large part due to the environment created by our Supergirl, @melissabenoist . Thank you to @gberlanti and @sarahsowitty and Robert and @jessicaqueller for creating Nia and for bringing me on board, and to every one of the cast and crew for welcoming me into your family, because at this point, you are more than my friends and I love you.
