She works as a playwright, stage manager, dramaturg, and director while writing poems in her spare time. Her work is focused on identity and self-expression, usually within a fantastical world. Leyla has previously directed Spooky One Acts for two years in a row and has had one poem published by Ghost City Press. Leyla is a Board member of Green Buffalo Productions and moderator for Buffalo Theatre Workshop. She has been working on her second full length play while also working on some poems and monologues. She is also doing research for a show that she will be stage managing and doing dramaturgy for. I enjoy a lot of different foods, but Mexican food is my favorite, especially Pozole! My mom always prepared it for me on my birthday. Pozole is often a treat for special occasions. If you were an animal, what would you be and why? I always have had a fascination and connections with Jaguars. My ancestors are Mayan, and this animal is a powerful totem that we have learned to respect and invoke. Jaguars, or Balam in Mayan, represents power, ferocity, and courage, something that I like to call upon when I am facing my fears or confronting a difficult situation. What is the best advice you’ve ever received? My Dad always told me: “There is a no bigger loss than the battles never fought ” “No hay peor lucha que la que no se hace” for me; this means that no matter what, never give up before fighting. This Monday looks a little different. I am unemployed. But before you go sending nice messages saying so sorry, know that I am not. I posted this picture months back as my push to start blogging & sharing health & fitness tips. Although I got so many cheers I never actually went through with it. Giving in to the resistance, I was too afraid of peoples judgment so I put the idea on the back burner. I am choosing to look at being laid off as a positive. As an opportunity. I have more time now to get creative. I am job hunting in a different space & am figuring out what my dream job looks like. I am putting my energy into what I truly want and am starting to mold my future to look exactly how I want it to look. Here we go... Mas, será que a casa nova era? 🔻Coraline e seus pais se mudaram para um complexo de apartamento, onde a parte de baixo da casa moravam duas senhoras que se diziam atrizes aposentadas e na parte de cima um senhorzinho estranho, ex cirscense que fala com os ratos. 🔻Seus pais eram muito ocupados e Coraline era a única criança naquele lugar, em um dia chuvoso Coraline foi proibida de explorar o lado de fora do apartamento, então, como os seus pais estavam ocupados demais para brincar com ela, pediram-na que explorasse dentro do apartamento. 🔻Em meio a essa exploração Coraline encontra uma porta misteriosa que aparentemente está trancada, imediatamente ela chama a sua mãe e pergunta para onde dá aquela porta, a mãe destranca a porta e mostra a coraline que a porta não dá a lugar algum, e, que era apenas uma parede de tijolos. Um dia Coraline se encontra sozinha no apartamento e resolve abrir novamente a porta, e percebe que no lugar onde antes era uma parede de tijolos se encontrava um corredor escuro. 🔻Como uma boa exploradora que é, ela resolve explorar para vê onde vai dá esse corredor. Para quem já conhece a história ou já assistiu ao filme o resultado desse rolê dela HAHA. A conclusão que eu tive desse livro é que eu não tenho nem 1% da coragem que essa guria teve.Inclusive, tive um certo receio de começar essa leitura, pois, por mais que seja uma história de terror mais voltada ao público infantil, eu tenho um cagaço enorme de filmes/livros que envolvem crianças(me julguem), mas, foi uma leitura suave, fluida e bem gostosinha, super indico para quem quer sair da ressaca.
