OH, HAPPY DAY. Did you see my stories this morn?! We have officially finished harvest!!👏🏼🕺🏼 I’m so happy I could cry RN lol. It took us less time than usual to get the crop off this year, but when I think back on the last few months....it seemed like time was standing still. As it often does when we are going through something challenging. The past couple months have been hard. Long days & nights for the guys in the field, Violet‘s eye trouble, Leo being well.. Leo (😂😬🤪), stressful bts changes with my blog, anddd regular solo parenting struggles amidst a pandemic. I’ve been feeling every emotion under the sun lately. It’s been a while, so here I am. Sharing my face with you. 😛👩🏼 I’m Amber. I have two little boys (Ollie - 3 and Whit - 1) and a husband of 5 years that I love a whole lot. 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 I sometimes feel like I lead two lives because at home with my kids I’m in sweats, watching cartoons, playing dinosaurs, and cleaning up after tiny people all day. Then, at work I’m in dresses, escorting fancy people around, creating beautiful things, and celebrating special moments. 👰🏼🤵🏽 I’ve been in the wedding industry for 5 years and been doing my own little thing for 3 of those years. I didn’t keep track of my weddings when I first started like I do now so I *think* I’ve planned and coordinated approximately 60-75 weddings. Whew. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ I like to think I’m just a normal girl who gets to do the coolest job. The cards weren’t in our favor. That tends to happen, doesn’t it? After you break up & go your separate ways. People tend to doubt you. To talk behind your back. To be SO sure that the relationship could never work out. To think you are just a time bomb waiting to explode. . When Jace & I broke up after 6 months of dating, I felt broken on a level I can’t even explain. I thought he was the one. All my plans for us.. gone within one moment. Something inside me knew that wasn’t the end of him & I though. I put on a brave face & I tried to be strong. It was hard. Hard seeing him out. Hard hearing about him. Hard being without him. As time passed, that thing inside me started to fade. Maybe we weren’t meant to be after all. . Then it happened. A text from a number with no name (bc obvi his phone number was deleted). My guard was up. I didn’t want to let him back in. I didn’t want to get my heart broken again. But things were different this time. Things weren’t hard anymore. It felt more meant to be than ever. . It scared me. I almost felt embarrassed to let him back into my life. To try again when it didn’t work in the first place. Funny how others can make you doubt what you know is in your heart. Jace & I needed that time apart. We needed to grow. We needed to learn how to be okay alone in order to be incredible together. Sometimes you need to lose each other to realize just how much you mean to one another. . It was 10pm last year on this day when the ambulance arrived to Hershey Medical Center. We had no idea what was going on. We didn’t go back home for 11 weeks. We’ve slept at our house 9 weeks total in the last year (keep trying to convince Jason we need to sell it already 🤪). Things went from bad to worse and then worse to better and then better to good and then good to relapse. And today I held Colton exactly like I did last year on this day and today I was reminding Him that Jesus will never leave or forsake him like I did last year on this day. And today I apologized repeatedly for all that he’s had to endure in his precious 20 months of life like I did last year on this day when he was just 8 months old. There is a great deal of sorrow that comes with not being able to protect the people you love. But a great deal of hope knowing we serve a God who cares more and loves deeper than I ever could. I’d probably rather eat my fist than relive this year over. This memory came up today— I was one month postpartum, one month into quarantine and we all had very little concept of what COVID really was. What I remember is feeling joy over the birth of Willa, extreme fear over this new virus, relief that I had built-in time with Micah, exhaustion from delivery, recovery and a newborn schedule, and frustrations with my foreign body. I had no idea what it would mean to have a quarantine baby. This pandemic is testing the limits of the number of changing emotions we can feel simultaneously. My hope for you is that you find places to create because putting our energy into art is healing, grounding, and clarifying. But it won’t just happen, we have to decide to do it. Holding so much can create such an emotionally volatile scenario, please make a creative process of any size part of your life. Happy weekend friends! Prayer grounds me and centers me in a way that lifts me out of a current situation, allows me to breathe and get perspective and re-enter into that situation in a different way. Another option opens, a new way forms, prayer changes things. It’s God telling me to slow my roll, or pause, or try it from a different angle. And for me, so does meditation. Closing my eyes for 20 minutes and listening to my body and spirit grounds me in beautiful ways. Prayer and meditation go hand in hand for me. They allow me to reframe things I often think of as responsibilities (weights) and redirect me to think of them as an honor (Privileges). I was listening to Grand Master Nan Lu talk about the difference between honor and responsibility. 🌟I often feel the weight of having four kids (and a traveling husband to boot), but it such an HONOR to be their mom. 🌟I feel the weight of being a small business owner, but it’s such an HONOR to own this business. This is a post that I have wanted to write for quite some time but have consistently found an excuse not to. I’m not ashamed about my experience with postpartum depression, as I know it is very common. We have a 1 year old. Whoa. . It would be fitting that this boy’s first birthday would occur during a pandemic considering how difficult it was to bring him here. But he is resilient. As is his Mother. And the show had to go on. It was just a much smaller show than we would have liked. We would have loved to have all our friends and those closest to us there but we landed on our immediate family only, all trying our best to practice social distancing and even eating at 4 different tables. What a wild time to be alive. . I can’t seem to grasp how the time slips away. A few days turn to months and those moments turn into a year. It’s been such a trying and joyous adventure with him. But being a dad has quickly become my favorite thing about myself. I love waking him up and starting each new day with our little buddy, as he waves at me, with a multitude of binkies in his hand as I walk into his room. . We’re grateful to a Father in Heaven for letting us be his earthly parents. And it was a joy to celebrate His son on this same day, to celebrate His life and resurrection. Update: there is no cost for cabana you just need reservation. We are working hard to make outside dining with us a pleasant and beautiful experience. The cabana will have tables and chairs provided and I’m working really hard on creating that brunchy atmosphere we all miss! This first image shows a two cabana rental with our velvet pink couch. One of things I noticed everyone enjoying about tailgating was the ability to get up and move around and have separate conversations. These spots are limited and will have time limits of 3 hrs so we can properly clean everything. This is very large endeavor and we will be setting up and tearing down everything every day. We are doing this because we are determined to survive this and to provide the safest and healthiest environment for our community. Outside dining is available starting this Thursday. Dining inside reservations will open in about a week or two when we will feel we can provide the safest environment for our employees and guests. We are working hard on it!
