Heute vor einem Jahr haben wir getanzt, gelacht und voller Freude den Start in ein neues Kapitel in unserem Leben gefeiert. Wenn ich heute auf diesen Tag zurück blicke, dann füllt sich mein Herz mit Dankbarkeit. Mit Dankbarkeit dafür, dass ich dich gefunden habe und dass mein Alltag durch dich Tag für Tag bereichert wird. Dankbarkeit für all die helfenden Hände, die uns geholfen haben unser Fest auf die Beine zu stellen, sei es durch Hilfe beim Aufbau, durch das Richten von Essen, durch Hilfe der Gestaltung von Kirchenheftchen oder durch die Bereitstellung eines großartigen Hochzeitsautos. Es gab so viele Leute,die im Hintergrund mitgewirkt haben, Leute ohne deren Unterstützung unser Fest nicht so einzigartig geworden wäre. Ich möchte mich nochmal bei all diesen Menschen bedanken. Ihr habt mir den schönsten Tag meines Lebens geschenkt! Und danke auch an dich Mike , dass du an meiner Seite stehst. Dass du mich immer wieder neu und besser kennenlernst und dass du meine Stärken zählst und nicht meine Macken. I almost didnt end up getting Gracie (my new puppy).... I had been talking about getting a dog for years. I thought about it (more like OVERthought about it) for so long. I thought of every excuse as to why now wasnt the right time... I didnt want to give up my freedom I was worried about taking care of it all by myself I wasnt sure I could do it financially All of those excuses were based around fear of the unknown. Around change. Finally, a few months ago... I decided it was time. I did some research, found a breed I liked and reached out to breeders. Then, when the time came that there was a puppy for me, I panicked. All those excuses came flooding back to me.... Maybe I should wait a few more months Maybe I should wait for a boy instead of a girl Maybe.... But, it really was perfect timing. Everything aligned. And I leaned into the fear. Because, really: If not now, when? Such a great question. Even though Im only a few days into being a dog owner, and it feels overwhelming at times, I am so glad I didnt put it off any longer. Slow your scroll remember days 1-14 of stay at home in March? I LOVED IT! As an introvert and someone who also has a pretty full social life, I found it liberating to stay at home. No FOMO, no saying YES when I really wanted to say NO. I took the time to pause. Its day 188ish and I do not love it. As a grief coach, I know from my training and working with clients that grieving in isolation is not the same as communal grieving. As a pretend anthropologist, I know that we are tribal by nature, and we need other people to survive and thrive. In talking to my single friends and clients, I found that there was a romanticizing of what it must be like going through 2020 in a relationship. It must be better than staying at home single right? Facts, its not easier in a relationship. My friends in relationships are also rose-colored glassing the single life. Divorce rates are up, and all the things we used to use to distract ourselves from feeling are not as readily available. Less hiding, more seeking. Whether you are single or in a relationship, one thing remains true, comparison is not only the thief of joy - its the thief of feeling our feelings. Check on your people and check your motives. Do you have the capacity to be honest with what its like to be you right now? Are you available to hear what its like for someone else? Please dont make the rookie mistake of hearing someone elses experience thinking that its an invitation for you to FIX. Now more than ever, we need to FEEL IT vs. FIX IT. Fixers are going to fix because your discomfort makes them uncomfortable. And if youre a fixer - youre probably fixating on someone else as a way to bypass your feelings. 2020 is heart work - not head work. Can you feel it?!!! Their complete ecstacy and excitement to be exchanging rings?!! Same sex, interracial, trans, queer and interfaith couples face an incredible amount of adversity on their journey to marriage. Judgment and discrimination from governments, churches and religious organizations, society, workplace, family and friends, (the list goes on) is all too often commonplace. It is incredibly heart wrenching. This is what makes their wedding day all the more sweet and meaningful. Tori and Jenna were no exception. Their long and winding road of 6 1/2 years was incredibly challenging. Yet through it all, their relationship only strengthened. They were wed in 2017 before 100 of their closest friends and family members at Orchard Canyon on Oak Creek; there was not a dry eye in the house. The cheers for them were incredibly enthusiastic! Love knows no limits. Love is an expression of the Universe, an expression of God. Those who do not realize this are missing out on the true meaning of love - it is unconditional. From Song of Solomon or Song of Songs chapter 8:6-7 Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. I used to be so unhappy ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I bet looking at this photo or even my entire feed, youd find it hard to believe that⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But there I was in my mid-20s having a quarter life crisis, asking myself is this really what my life is coming to?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had a hard time accepting it, but knew that I had somehow driven myself to that rock bottom moment feeling sad, defeated, disappointed, embarrassed, JOBLESS and BROKE AF.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In that moment I had a choice to make: 1) let my bruised ego wallow in a pity party or 2) use my resources to build myself back up⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So I chose option 2 and turned my rock bottom into my rebirth, Heres how it went:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⚡️started practicing intentional gratitude⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⚡️took up daily meditation⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⚡️invested in my blog at the time, GlutenFreedomInc.com (even when nothing was coming in and I had no idea when it would)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⚡️I started recognizing my skills, and became resourceful in turning them into profits ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⚡️I deeply committed to my healing journey⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Bit by bit, my life turned around.
