$250 Sunoco bonuses highlight features at three Nebraska venues this week. The paydays get even better this week for a trio of IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature winners. It begins Thursday evening at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus as the IMCA Late Model winner pockets an extra $250 courtesy of Sunoco Race Fuels. Friday night the bonus moves to Boone County Raceway in Albion. The final bonus of the weekend will be presented Saturday night at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk. Sunoco bonuses are being presented at IMCA Late Model sanctioned weekly tracks this year. Drivers are eligible for only one bonus during the 2020 racing season. If the feature winner is a previous Sunoco winner, the bonus moves to the next eligible position. 2020 winners have been Jeff Aikey at Independence Motor Speedway, Matt Ryan at 34 Raceway, Joel Callahan at Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway, Eric Pollard at 300 Raceway, Justin Kay at Davenport Speedway and Dalton Simonsen at Marshalltown. Billabong Pro J-Bay 2009 - Mick to Parko - “Just one more step mate” At the end of 2009 I recorded an interview with Mick Fanning after he’d won his 2nd World Title at Pipeline and asked him about that special moment he’d shared with Parko straight after Parko won his 4th contest of the year at the Billabong Pro J-Bay back in July. Mick had been one of the first to congratulate his good mate and I heard him telling him, “One more step mate, just one more step”. I asked Mick whether he thought that in J-Bay Joel actually had the 2009 World Title all wrapped up, this was his reply:“Yeah, definitely! Leading up to that point no one else had even looked like coming close to him... nobody had been putting anything together except Joel and I was thinking, “He’s already got four results and if he gets one more good result the year is almost done.” I was thinking that I was out of it, (the Title race) and so “What am I going to do with the rest of the year.” (Laughing). Within 3 weeks of that moment at J-Bay the whole year turned upside down for Parko. A serious injury in Bali where he tore ligaments in his ankle practicing air reverses, which was kept very quiet, completely derailed his training and preparations for the second half of the year. While Joel was totally frustrated with the whole injury situation, he watched his good mate win 3 out of the last 4 Events and jump right into World Title contention. The title race went all the way to Pipeline with Mick on top of the ratings and Joel needing to win the contest to overtake him. A first round defeat for Joel handed Mick his 2nd World Title. Mick elaborated in our interview, “That ankle injury really played a big part in his year. I probably knew better than a lot of other people how bad it was. It sucks to watch one of your friends go through that. It was sort of a bittersweet thing after I won... It had been hard to talk up till then. We were in sort of like a fishbowl where all sorts of rumours and stuff were being said and written about us. We hadn’t been able to relax together for a long time. It meant so much to have him and Dingo (Dean Morrison) there to carry me up the beach.” - @joliphotos on Instagram

- 13 years ago on this day. The first COT race happened in the 2007 Food City 500. With a Amazing Finish to the race Kyle Busch and Jeff Burton battled for this win. Kyle Busch as you can see won, he led the last 20 laps plus 9 laps previously. This race had a very great finish.
