Simple pleasures.. * Last week I went up to visit my parents for a week. Due to COVID they haven’t seen my boys in almost 6 months. Heartbreaking for all concerned - but the safest and the right thing to do.. * We kept our distance whilst there, spending most our time outside and even sleeping in a tent!. * Usually at their house we go out to various beaches / playgrounds / farms etc. But this time was different, my parents are high risk and have been shielding so we wanted to stay home. Initially I was a bit concerned about keeping my 4 & 6 year old entertained but it was great.. * One of the positives to lockdown I’ve found is being forced to stay home. I’m defo an “organiser” and often have activities planned for every part of the weekend (often weeks in advance - much to my husbands despair!) . But lockdown has forced us to stay at home and make our own fun, which I have to admit I’ve enjoyed.. * Whilst at my parents we taught my eldest to cycle better, we pulled up and ate veggies from the garden, we watched TV, and highlight of the week - we cleaned out the pond 😂. * For anyone comparing and despairing at a bank holiday weekend at home with no plans - relax. You might have seen our naughty swans out and about in the Market Place recently. Theyve been taking an active interest in local life and Moira, our very own swan-whisperer, has had to retrieve them from various locations. You can see how brilliantly she does it in this image! В детстве и юности Валерий занимался греблей на каноэ. Но после поступления в институт, времени не хватало, и занятия каноэ пришлось оставить. Как часто бывает, в любимый спорт нас возвращают дети. Так случилось и у Валерия - он привел в каноэ своего подросшего младшего сына и потихоньку втянулся сам. Позже Валерия пригласили в команду по гребле на лодках Дракон. И сейчас он активно тренируется на Драконах, а также плотно занимается греблей на каноэ. Валерий старается участвовать во всех международных соревнованиях Европы и Азии. Он семикратный чемпион мира. ⠀ Напарнику Валерия - Сергею Викторовичу Точенову 64 года. Ветеран спорта, мастер спорта по каноэ. К гребле на каноэ привлёк всю семью и гоняется в двойке со своей внучкой. Многократный победитель международных соревнований и олимпиад. ⠀ В Новой Зеландии эти спортсмены выступали в одной лодке и стали олимпийскими чемпионами среди ветеранов. ⠀ Как им удаётся быть в такой отличной форме? It’s time to go back to Ireland! 🇮🇪 I woke up to a message this morning from our Irish friends, letting me know it has been 7 years since we were there. 😭 How does time fly so quickly?!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have you ever been to Ireland? In an ever-changing city like London it is sometimes hard to imagine what came before. That’s why the entrance to @stbartholomewthegreat is a special place. Amongst the restaurants, sleek offices and residences of West Smithfield, the gatehouse to London’s oldest parish church is an incredible reminder of a past city that can be otherwise hard to find. The priory church of St Bartholomew the Great was built in 1123 by Rahere – an Anglo-Norman monk and one of the favourites of Henry I - and it’s one of the most important 12th century monuments in London. Its gatehouse is no less interesting than the church itself. The 13th century stone arch with its two-storey Tudor building above has one of the most eye-catching frontages in London, providing a tantalising glimpse from the street to the medieval church beyond. The iron gates of this famous gatehouse were part of a major restoration in 1932 but were in much need of repair after nearly a hundred years of use. HOLT has been restoring this handsome structure so that the approach to St Bart’s might be transformed as the church nears its 900th birthday. Conservators from Arts Heritage have removed corrosion and repainted the ironwork, and regilded the distinctive coats of arms. Soon the attractive lanterns will also be working again, illuminating the gatehouse from across the square. This work has been possible thanks to a generous donation from @helicalplc; part of Smithfield’s more recent history with their development next to St Bart’s Square. The Helical Bar and Engineering Company started life in 1919 making and selling reinforcing steel for the construction industry – so it is perhaps fitting that they have played an instrumental part in restoring the metalwork of one of their close neighbours. These conservation works will have the gatehouse looking its best as the area is transformed into a new Culture Mile, with the @museumoflondon planning its move just across the road in West Smithfield. We are @travelwithapaddle, a stand-up paddle travel agency offering SUP trips with a wildlife education focus. 🏄‍♀️ @travelwithapaddle was born of a love of SUP surfing and marine conservation. Beau is pro SUP athlete who competed on the world stage and Clare is a marine biologist with global research experience. Now we’ve decided to turn our lens on best protecting the most important place on the planet (in our opinion 😀) THE OCEAN! 🌊 🌍 We realised that in order to create memorable SUP experiences, we need to protect the places we visit. Exploring the Isles was a realisation of how intact an ecosystem can be if it is well managed. This morning we welcomed 3 stunning vessels into the Harbour; Mascotte, Amaryllis and Falanda. Mascotte is the largest surviving Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter and her arrival in her new home port also marks the launch of a new sailing trust - Rich’s Boat. The Rich’s Boat Charitable Trust was founded in memory of Mascotte’s skipper of 9 years, Richard Clapham. The aim of the trust is to use sailing to champion positive mental health and wellbeing. #Repost @dunna_chuck_bruck with @kimcy929_repost • • • • • • We had so much fun this weekend in Unst for Shetland Nature Festival and @unstfest 2019! 💚 Around thirty amazing volunteers joined us on our nature walk and beach clean at Woodwick on Saturday morning. The team cleared around twenty-five bags of bruck plus masses of fishing floats, larger bits of plastic, rope and huge pieces of net that needed sawing up in order to shift! This is a particularly attractive beach for bruck due to the tides and shape of the bay, but it is difficult to clean up as there is a 2km walk on rough and steep terrain to reach it, let alone bring it back for disposal. A massive thank you to everyone who volunteered, the committees at Unstfest and Shetland Nature Festival, the brilliant landowners who are removing the bruck from Woodwick by quad and trailer over the next couple of days, and @shetlandheritage for taking the bruck out of Unst for disposal with SIC. Hello all! We’re all very pleased to announce the total findings from the beach clean. 113.7kg of rubbish was found by around 80 volunteers this morning on castle beach and going round near pendennis point too! It’s been a really amazing effort and we’ve all enjoyed it, we hope you all had a fab day too! Also a big thank you to whoever helped to clear the sand and seaweed from outside the cafe and along the walkway, it wasn’t at all necessary and everyone’s generosity really helped us and saved us weeks worth of time! Special thank you to who organised the event @onebagbeachclean it was amazing to see everyone down helping out their community to benefit the environment! Really great to see! ❤️❤️ Unfortunately we’re not going to open again until the new season starts which will be end of March however if there’s any particularly good weathered days, we may decide to open the cafe and if so, it will be mentioned on our Facebook page and here on the Instagram page too! I’M BACK! 🤗💕⠀ ⠀ after a full few weeks and lots of milestones happening for our family it was time for a breather with my little ones.. and a digital detox. ⠀ ⠀ I unplugged from the digital world.. popped my phone away during the daytime and had some quality family time, more sleep, being present ⠀ ⠀ and it’s been a good one! ⠀ ⠀ We did a gluten trial with both boys which was really promising. They both ate regular toast and didn’t have sore tummies!
