“Give yourself grace”. It’s a phrase I heard countless times after I miscarried, it’s a phrase I’ve said to others several times as well. We all need to remember to give ourselves grace, especially in the hard seasons, especially as mamas. I tried to be very intentional to allow my emotions grace, to cry when the tears came, to understand that it was ok to feel ok one minute and angry the next. However there is one area of grace I overlooked, giving my body grace. I had been in a consistent work out routine for about three months before my miscarriage and I had made so much progress, I felt so strong and had so much energy. Then all of a sudden my body needed space and time to heal. I had to stop working out for a couple weeks and when I tried to start up again, I went too hard, frustrated with the fact that I couldn’t perform at the same level. The next couple of times I managed to muster up the motivation I went through my workouts frustrated with myself and my body. My inner thoughts towards my body were negative and full of frustration. I think we can all relate to this on some level. I decided I needed to change the inner dialogue. As I went through my next yoga practice I actively changed my thoughts and began thinking things like, “my body is strong”, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”, “my body is capable”, “my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit”. It seems silly honestly, I know the power of our thoughts and words but doing something like that always seemed so weird to me, even if it was just in my head, but you know what? I had the most peaceful time during that workout, the frustration I was feeling left and grace found its way in its place. So if you find your inner dialogue about yourself or your body drifting towards negativity, give yourself grace today mama and change the dialogue. As you can tell my personal life on social media has typically been very private the last few years limiting it to work and play, but this girl deserves a major shout out for keeping my crazy ass in check and on the straight and narrow. I have a confession... I LOVE being home! 🏡 Maybe it’s the sweet little faces and one furry one that I get to see all day (my hubby too!), maybe it’s the Scorpio/homebody in me, maybe it’s the afternoons well spent coloring, doing clay and sidewalk chalk or weekends watching church online together. I love it all and I really do know it’s a privilege to be home. But, I do miss my salon home, my wonderful clients and my @jbellezzaboutique tribe and before you know it, we will be back in action. Words can’t explain the love I feel for this woman. As many of you know my life is “organized chaos” with business I’m all over the place 7 days a week. She fills every open void I have. Full time Nursing student, 2 jobs and yet when it’s 11pm she is down in my office doing my paperwork, loading cars or changing tires. #rideordie is the pure definition of what this woman means to me. Vale Martin Sachs Martin Sachs, a talented MCM house designer and builder has sadly passed away this week aged 95. Martin Sachs, shared an office in Brighton with mid-century architect, Harry Ernest in the 1960’s. Sachs built many of Ernest’s houses and when it came to his own developments, was obviously influenced by Ernest’s simple modernist flat roof designs and his detailing (although they possibly influenced each other) as there are many similarities between their houses. Sachs designed and built many houses in Melbourne, mostly in Caulfield and Brighton. In Beaumaris he is celebrated for his visionary design of Bellaire Court. He purchased 40 blocks of land – previously a chicken farm and between 1963 and 1968 designed and built most of the houses in the court (some blocks of land were sold for cash flow ) The houses Sachs designed all had a flat roof as he believed “a flat roof was better for a good floor plan – which is almost impossible to achieve under a tiled roof”. Unusual for the time, the houses were constructed on a concrete slab with ducted heating set into the slab. They had private courtyard gardens, a cocktail bar, an ensuite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe, beautiful timber joinery and often a swimming pool. The whole court was conceived as being a luxury modern estate, hence the name, Bellaire Court. He loved being featured in the Beaumaris Modern Book and today Bellaire Court is one of the most intact streetscapes in Beaumaris. These visionary designers and builders have shaped our suburbs and need to be recognised and celebrated. • 3 years • As I created this post I realized that this was only my 5th post of 2019. That describes our year fully. As we started school in September 2018 we prayed that this experience would bring growth, learning, and capacity in the 18 months we would be in school. 2019 has been defined by those three words not only professionally but personally. We have learned how to say no more. We have learned what it means to be us, and more of what we want define us as a couple. We have tested our limits and found them :) 😅. Today marks exactly half way through my trip! I’ve had the most incredible time exploring Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Philippines, Australia and now New Zealand! With 15 weeks until the Vienna Marathon, I’ve decided to stop using Hanson’s marathon method and go for a less time-demanding plan. Currently I’m finding it too difficult to fit in 6 days a week of running, along with strength training and yoga, whilst backpacking. A 4 day plan will be more realistic to stick with whilst sightseeing and constantly moving between cities/countries. Still haven’t found a good new plan so I’m making it up as I go for now 😬 here’s a photo from my run/walk along the Coogee to Bondi path and back. I COULD BARELY WALK...is not a good feeling when your an athlete for a living! The cause of the pain in a disc issue between L5 and SI ya know the one in your lower back. - My wife called @fashion_posse (Tiffany Cooper) because she had heard of how much he had helped @the_official_tufcooper so thanks to them for making the connection for us. - Anyway the pain was endless and I couldn’t get away from it. It seemed to never end...if was hell not gonna lie. - We got him on the phone and he said with a calm voice yah no worries I can get ya fix up today...I thought he was crazy butt I went anyway. - To make a long strong short he worked on me for 1 1/2 hrs and I felt like I could run sprints! He basically re activates Dormant muscles and somehow takes all the pain away. I didn’t even know that was possible. As I was there I was looking on the wall at all the NFL players that use him from all over the US and I couldn’t help but be thankful and humbled that he would take time out of his busy day off to help me. But we are going to expand the shop hours to Wednesday-Saturday from 9:00 am - 5:30 pm. No, the nature of the shop will stay the same! Eco friendly, sustainable option are at the heartbeat of our vision! Let me begin by saying I thought it was beyond weird that Eli suddenly had an itch for mini golf so intense that we were going to drive an hour to meet James and Cassidy just to do it (btw, now Im wondering if you guys just let me win).
