“Properties of the Hammer”, a self portrait developed in a darkroom by me in 1993. I was 19 years old, and I knew there was something deeply rotten in the area of Texas I grew up in. Insidious behavior and thoughts can be concealed by Southern pleasantries, the pulpits of churches, and suburban attics. I didn’t understand what white supremacy was in 1993, but I knew there was something invisible operating on my body. I could feel that much. My folks never sat me down to talk about it, but I was starting to piece something together from observing their relationships with white folks over the years. I was never called nigger to my face (like my parents were), but you don’t have to be. There’s a zillion other ways to be called that. I was beginning to get that too. I was naive then and running on pure intuition. My need to express some growing unease came out in my pencil, brush, or camera whether I wanted it to or not. I didn’t know what the art world was or what galleries were in 1993, so these images were just for me. Now they’re for you too. - @trenton_doyle_hancock on Instagram

Kadınların hepsinin üzerinde kürk olmasının nedeni ise; Bulgaristanın göç eden Türklerin yanlarına sadece elbiselerini almalarına izin vermesi. Ömürlerinde hiçbir zaman kürk giyme fırsatı bulamayacak olan bu kadınlar, ellerindekini satıp parasıyla kürk alıyorlardı ki; Türkiyeye geçtiklerinde kürkü satarak en azından bir miktar paralarını kurtarmış olabilsinler. Dünya tarihinin en üzücü sahnelerinden biri de 1950li yıllarda Bulgaristan Türklerinin maruz kaldığı insanlık dışı muameledir. Bu süreçte taşınmaz mallarının bir çoğunu arkasında bırakan Bulgaristan Türkleri taşınabilir mülklerini yanlarında götürmek istemiştir; ancak faşizan bir yönetime sahip Bulgar hükümeti Türklerin yalnızca kıyafetleri ile gitmesine izin vermiştir. Gidecekleri yurtta kendilerini neyin beklediğini bilmeyen Bulgaristan Türkleri hem daha sıcak tutması hem de her yerde satıldığında iyi para etmesi hasebiyle kürk satın alarak Türkiyeye gelmişlerdir. دیروز دعوت شدم به این چالش و داستانش رو هم نمیدونستم.... . راستش بنظرم حکایت مثل همین روالیه که توی گوشی هامون هست برای سیاه و سفید کردن...یا شاید برای سیاه و سفید دیدن ... . حکایت دختری رو که بواسطه اتفاقی که براش افتاده بود این چالش براه افتاده رو خوندم... قلبا متاسفم .... . اما چند سالی میشه که به خشونت بر علیه زنان باور ندارم ... نمیدونم شاید بواسطه شغلم تابحال حتی یک مورد ندیدم که در ناخودآگاه از مورد خشونت واقع شدن نفعی نبرده باشه...... حتی اگر اون دریافت نفع نوازشی منفی بوده باشه و حتی چندسالی میشه که تو حوزه دیداری و شنیداری و ادراکیم زنان ظالم هم کم ندیدم نسبت به مردان.... حتی با کمال شرمندگی خودم هم جاهایی نسبت به مردان زندگیم ظلم روا داشتم... و خودمم مظلوم واقع شدم تا زمانیکه فکر میکردم زنان همیشه فلان و بهمان.... . خشونت نسبت به یک جان به هر شکلی قشنگ نیست.... ولی هست و بوده در طول تاریخ ... . تا زمانیکه مظلوم های همه دنیا ظالم درون خودشون رو بشناسن و به جای بر علیه ظلم بیرونی قیام کردن بر علیه ظالم درونشون قیام کنن.... . ضمنا خیلی اینو تجربه کردم تو این چندسال که هیچ چیزی بیرون از ما اتفاق نمی افته مگر همخوان با ساحت روان و افکارمون باشه و اون قسمتی از #ناخودآگاه مون که هنوز بهش آگاه نشدیم ... . #مظلوم همیشه بقای #ظالم رو تبیین و تضمین میکنه... و این موضوع زن و مرد نداره و هر مقاومتی و هر برعلیه چیزی در بیرون برخاستن... نهایتا ما رو تبدیل به همون چیز میکنه.... و نکته مهمتر اینکه : وقتی ظالم درون خودمون رو نمی بینیم چرخ قاعده مند هستی کسی رو به شکل ظالم بیرون از خودمون بهمون نشون میده....بلکه متوجه بشیم کیفیتی ویژگی ای و یا صفتی رو درون خودمون ندیدیم و نشناختیم......... . باشد که صلح و هماهنگی باشد بین دو نیروی انیما و انیموس در جهان هستی آمین #بخود_آ #خودکاوی #خود_آگاهی #توسعه_فردی #تحلیل_رفتار_متقابل #پیشنویس_زندگی #خودت_باش_جنسیتی #خودت_نباش_جنسیتی #آنیما #آنیموس #برابری #صلح #جنسیت #خشونت #زنان #مردان #womenempowerment #humanempowerment #acceptchallenge - @be.khod.aa on Instagram

Полистайте пост - вроде клево получается. ⠀ Недавно мне написал @sergey_meza и предложил снять забавную идею про мудреца с бородой из сосисок. Это показалось мне настолько странной штукой... что я, естественно, сразу же согласился. Ведь мы договорились делать эту бороду в 3Д, а мне дико интересно сейчас в этом практиковаться, ну и заодно можно было решить коммерческую задачу. ⠀ Пробравшись на задворки старинного монастыря, как настоящие ниндзи, мы очень быстро отсняли основу для 3д интеграции и сбежали, пока нас не сцапала охрана. A brief history of Womens Rights in Pakistan (Part 2): Shortly after Zia ul Haq established his dictatorship in Pakistan, he introduced the infamous Hudood Ordinances in 1979. The Hudood Ordinances comprised of laws that significantly reduced the rights of the women in the country. Before I expand on what all the Hudood Ordinances entailed, I think its first important to understand the indirect impact that Zias tenure had on the women of the time. Shireen Khan Burki, in Politics of Misogyny makes note of how the Federal State began to demand the covering of women with chadors- working women were told to adhere to these laws and women were also forced to ensure that they covered themselves before appearing on state-controlled television. Although the rural life was relatively unwavered by Zias laws, the urban womans life was drastically affected. Not only was there a staunch increase in restrictions, but harassment against women was also on the rise (Burki, 2016, p. 105). There were debates relating to whether the Muslim Family Law Ordinance of 1961 (discussed in the previous post) should be repealed, whether women should be allowed to drive cars, and also whether women should be barred from participating in spectator sports. Even though all of these issues contributed to the agitation of women, the Hudood Ordinances of 1979 proved to be the pivotal moment when the leading female activists and lawyers decided to mobilise in protest of Zia-ul-Haq’s regime. [The next post (part 3) will refer to the Hudood Ordinances and its effects]. *** I understand that my choice of words may seem to be harsher than necessary- but it is about time that we understand where the problem lies. Islam, without a doubt, has beautiful teachings which- in theory- would format a perfect society. However, that does not mean that imperfect humans can not exploit and distort it to further their own agendas. Making of a period royal portrait. Home made surma (eye kohl) and applied with fingertip around the eye and then smudged on the eyebrow. No other makeup. Followed my mama’s recipe of collecting soot on a spoon inverted over a burning cotton wick in ghee. Then mixing the soot with a touch of ghee. Also did a ‘value study’ (the lightness/darkness grade of colors in a monochrome), and the real colors of the outfit. PS: Could not affect the pouty attitude that brings great tension to the original image.
