A bit happier than I look in this pic, but hey RBF is a thing. Today is release day! I feel super lucky to share my life and music journey with such amazing friends @end_train @tapefeed.music and this EP is the celebration of a long lasting and inspiring friendship. We met trough music and we started an amazing journey together. We met at a party, a club, and event and from there this connection evolved to the point of sharing the same passion and vision way behind the music itself. Got us travel the world together, from Gorgia, to India to Berlin, always there to support, always there for one another, for real. Thanks for being there whenever I was lost and needed a hug, a jam session, a couch to crash (cheesy moment here, soz). We’ve been waiting to release this for a while cause “don’t put music out, it’s COVID”. But fuck it. This is the best way I know at this point to support the industry. if you are giving your energy to people who leaving you second guessing who you are — feeling like you need to do something else, be something else, be more, be less — then those are not the relationships you should be putting your energy into. somehow somewhere we normalized living for others. we are taught to seek approval. from friends, family, teachers, colleagues, mentors — regardless if they truly see us. care for us. want the best for us. so when we have people in our life who make us feel less than, like we aren’t worthy, like we talk to much or don’t talk enough, like we are over the top or simply too basic — we listen. we second guess. we try harder. we hate ourselves more. we aren’t taught to let our light shine despite the judgement of those too afraid to shine theirs. we aren’t encouraged to walk away from people or places that don’t make us feel good. & we aren’t told that sometimes people try to change us because they really just want to change themselves. I fully promote walking away from people that don’t make you feel good about being you. that energy is toxic. but the key is to walk away with love. it’s not about hating the people who have wronged you. it’s not about judging them for their judgement of you. if you walk away with hate in your heart you just perpetuate the cycle. walk away & send your love. A *mic drop* revelation that my client and I mutually came to together recently: Balance is not balance when you’re forcing yourself to have balance because you have been told by diet culture that that’s the right thing to do. If balance doesn’t come to you intuitively, i.e. I enjoy 🍎🍅🥑🥦🥬🥩🥗🥘 most of the time and 🍪🍕🍟🍔🧁🍦 some of the time because I am attuned to my body’s physical and emotional hunger and have the mental flexibility to honor both types, it is just another external food or diet rule you are creating for yourself. There, we said it. 🤷🏼♀️ In order to get to this place of understanding what true balance feels like, we must first begin with understanding the language your body is trying so desperately to communicate with you in and, once fluent in that language, respond to your body in a way that respects its needs (this called interoceptive sensitivity and responsiveness). This isn’t easy stuff, you guys. It takes an insane amount of strength to finally reject external cues and to begin looking inward, but the reward thoughhhh: a lifetime of ease around food choices, an ability to truly and sincerely choose nutritious foods for your body because they feel so good for you (!!), the gift of satisfying emotional hunger without guilt because you understand it is a necessary component of the diet, the stabilization of weight and yo-yo dieting behaviors, and an acceptance of your body size out of the respect for what it does for you day in and day out. Commonly asked question: Do I ever scrap a project or painting? - Yes, I do. What you see behind me here on the easel is a part of a painting that I, after a while decided to paint over. The reason for painting over a motif is often that I can’t find enough inspiration while creating the sketch for it - so when painting it I do not feel anything. It needs to catch my interest and I need to be willing to go through with the struggle of rethinking a motif till it works again - in this case I couldn’t complete it. I just could not understand my motif or relate to it and I became confused. I guess it is like that with every other work there is, you try new ideas and some will work, others don’t. What I do when I find myself in this state is that I allow myself to go back to my older work which I liked and was inspired by in order to use parts of them for my new work. How do you handle frustration in painting? And oh - that reminds me - I used to get very frustrated and paint over a motif without thinking about other solutions first. Lasting change comes through empowerment, not shame. I’ve learned on my self love journey that the only time my healthy habits stick is when I enter into them from a place of self worth. A place of knowing I deserved more for myself, and of loving myself exactly as I am FIRST. My life has been filled with confidence issues, debilitating body image struggles, disordered eating, and disempowering food relationships. For years I missed out on a lot of life bullying myself and waiting until some future day where life would start. But today, completely independent of my size, weight, or appearance, I know I am worthy of self love and self care simply because I exist. And once I got there, I noticed that staying consistent with self care became so much easier. We effortlessly take care of the things we love and value. This Sunday from 8-9:30am PT I’ll be teaching my Self Love and Body Positivity workshop. This is a live virtual experience where we’ll deep dive into changing limiting beliefs, removing toxic thought processes and influences, and learning tangible daily tools to gradually shift your most important relationship... the one with yourself. There will be no talks of food or weight loss. This is much deeper. If you struggle with consistent self care, it’s likely self love is at the core and it would be my honor to share many of the tools that have helped me. My entire mind and perspective has transformed and it has had nothing to do with the numbers on a scale or the label in my pants. This workshop is $25 and all are welcome. IVA WELL is a practice I created with the intention of empowering people to connect to the deep well of wisdom within themselves, to remember the inherent regenerative power within our bodies, and build community around a holistic approach to health and wellbeing which looks at the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects, and the influence of the communities and eco systems that we live in. Посижу тут в трусах с вашего позволения. Пока жду фотографии от @phvsol, буду выставлять фото от неё же, но на айфон. ⠀ В последнее время всех очень интересует, почему я не пью алкоголь. Вообще-вообще, вот прямо даже бокальчик, даже на свадьбе/вечеринке/встрече старых друзей и любом другом празднике. Естественно первая и самая ожидаемая реакция это: «ооой, второго ждёте?». Но пока причина не в этом. ⠀ Все дело в том, что последние 4 месяца я была участницей проекта Физикл от @zingilevskiy. И в рамках этого проекта алкоголь строго запрещен. На то есть свои очень весомые причины, про это лучше почитать у Олега. Простыми словами, алкоголь мешает похудению. ⠀ А я на секундочку похудела за это время с 63 до 58 кг. Эти 5 кг висели мертвым грузом после беременности и не уходили абсолютно никак, ни тренажёрка, ни массажи, ничего не помогало. Помог только строгий подсчёт калорий. Я ела абсолютно все, даже тортики и шоколадки, но под запись в FatSecret, не выходя за планку. Ну и помимо этого я каждый день наедала норму белка, растительности и ещё кучу всего. Благодаря такому супер сбалансированному питанию у меня изменилось качество тела, кожи, волос, ногтей, я стала бодрее и активнее. Но это вряд ли будет кому-то интересно. ⠀ Интереснее то, что я никогда не была в такой крутой форме, как сейчас. Я всю жизнь загонялась по поводу своего тела, всегда был недостаточно плоский живот и недостаточно стройные ноги. И никогда раньше я бы не согласилась на подобную фотосессию, тем более не стала бы выставлять ее в сеть из-за комплексов. ⠀ А теперь вопрос. Стоит ли пара бокалов спиртного всех моих многонедельных трудов и новой крутой формы, на которую я не могу налюбоваться в зеркало? Такое ощущение, что нет. Поэтому я и не пью алкоголь. Не исключаю, что он будет эпизодически появляться в моей жизни, ну не смогу я не напиться на девичнике и свадьбе своей лучшей подруги (как минимум я ей обещала). This is my cozy. These are my thoughts. This week has been hard for a lot of west coasters, seal up the house, don’t go outside. I keep thinking about this year and the words “it’s not safe to breathe” come to mind - it’s not safe, it’s not safe. Hold your breath. And then there are our brothers and sisters who really can’t breathe, they are being killed at a higher rate and more quickly. Our breath, our oxygen, we need it to live. We know these things. As someone who has been working for years on living in a non-panic survival mode, this time has had its ups and downs of mental wellness. It’s not always about just “keeping a positive attitude” because we need to fully feel the weight so we can take appropriate action. Experience leads to action. Hi, I’m Clara 👋🏼 Like many others, I stumbled into holistic health (~ 4 years ago) because of my own struggles with health. . At the time, my general practitioner couldn’t provide answers to why I was struggling to get out of bed after 9-10 hours of sleep, moving through the work day with my head in a fog, feeling irritable and emotional and unable to cope with daily stresses, pacing the floors at night to walk off excruciating period cramps, battling acne as an adult, and bloating up at the bite of a crumb. . Not knowing how else to help, she prescribed antidepressants, which only made me more lethargic, and prescription strength Ibuprofen to ease the cramps. She tried many times to put me on the pill, but I was not open to what I believed to be a bandaid approach that came with its own long list of side effects. . I knew there was more going on. My body was unhappy on a deep level, and I went searching for answers to heal it at the core. I became my own experiment, adding in foods, removing others, using essential oils, meditating, doing yoga, removing toxins, juice cleansing, taking supplements, and so much more. . Some things worked, others didn’t, but eventually I started to get to know my body. I saw what was working and what wasn’t. Food was the most noticeable factor with the most obvious effects. I went with that. I changed my diet and my relationship to food and my body began to heal. . This is what drove me into the field of nutrition, this is what people mean when they say “food is medicine”. It has the power to both hurt you and heal you in a nuanced way that many doctors can’t speak to. . As a holistic health coach, I know that a pimple is not just a pimple. It starts in the gut and works its way up through the skin. I know that anxiety is not just anxiety, it’s a physiological response to inflammation. These “mystery” issues have answers, and they’re often connected to food. . There may not always be scientific studies to prove all claims made in holistic health. Don’t get stuck on this. When you’ve lived it, you don’t need scientific proof. Healing in itself is proof enough. With an open mind and dedication, you’ll find the answers you need 🤍 - @wellismore on Instagram
How many of us are running around with beliefs and programs that we aren’t even consciously aware of? 😖 - I had no idea how dependant I was on external validation. I had even fooled myself into believing that I didn’t care what anyone thought, while ‘suffering’ from anxiety 🤦🏼♀️ - This would show up in my work, I would do a shoot and not be happy or celebrate until I could share the photos, then when people praised me I would feel good - for like 30 seconds. Then back to working on the next thing to try and get that fix. - It would show up with friends, I would sit in conversations and not say much because I couldn’t decide what would be the perfect thing so say, so I would just be quiet. And then think they just didn’t get me. - I would force myself to do something out of my comfort zone (completely from a place of fear), I would congratulate myself that I actually took some action AND I had anxiety - like that made it even more special 🤦🏼♀️ - I would wake up on edge because I either had too much to do, or not enough to do. I would struggle to go to sleep because I just couldn’t switch my mind off (hello reliving things from years ago 😳). - What I have now come to realise is that I don’t ‘have’ anxiety, it was only a symptom of being completely disconnected from my body and my soul! 🤯 I was literally living from the neck up and had no idea 😳 Now that I’ve learnt from @laninalu11 & @iam.maryfleet how to embody and have CHOSEN to come into my body, I literally do not get anxiety anymore! I am free to be me in every moment 🚀 And if I do start to feel disconnected, I just put my hand on my heart, close my eyes and come home ❤️ #iambadass - @alex.e.carter on Instagram
