Although what happened overnight set in motion the events of the following day, the greatest losses started in the early morning hours of June 1st. The gun battle that lasted throughout the night kept immediate threats to black Tulsa at bay but by daybreak the tables started to turn in the most disastrous way. Many Greenwood citizens either fled for safety or were defending their property until being outnumbered by the oncoming mob. Some escaped unharmed while others who peacefully surrendered were still shot. Police and National Guard began taking the remaining blacks into protective custody but in the process left Greenwood vulnerable to all out attack. As the white mob marched into Greenwood from all sides, their mission seemed clear: after looting the properties, they were to be set on fire. This was repeated until 40 blocks of Tulsa was reduced to rubble and ash. *These photographs were taken on June 1, 1921. I will be sharing more of these in an exhibit called “21 for ‘21” opening January 1, 2021 at @bws.gallery . The exhibition will showcase 21 composite images from the 1921 #tulsaracemassacre. 쓰레기 문제 전문가인 최병성 목사님께서 쓰레기 문제의 큰 부분을 차지하는 것이 건축쓰레기라는 말씀을 하셨었습니다. 생각해보면 국내 건축물들이 짧은 주기라는 건 알고 있었지만, 이 부분에서 쓰레기 발생이 많아진다는 걸 연결지어 생각은 못했던 것 같습니다. 노무현 정부때 분양원가공개, 후분양제가 도입되었다면 아파트값 고공 상승도, 쓰레기 문제도 줄지 않았을까 하는 아쉬움이 남네요. 사진, 아래 기사 출처 - 머니그라운드 2006년 주택산업연구원에서 발표한 자료에 따르면 국내 아파트의 콘크리트 강도는 210~270㎏/㎠ 수준이었던 것으로 나타났다. 주택산업연구원은 콘크리트 강도는 아파트의 수명을 좌우한다며 해외 아파트 콘크리트 강도도 공개했다. 아파트 수명이 긴 미국 아파트의 콘크리트 강도가 400~500㎏/㎠를 유지하고 동남아도 300~400㎏/㎠에 달했다. 준공된 지 20, 30년 지날 때마다 재건축을 진행하는 것이 단순히 시장논리가 아닌 이유다. 전문가들은 1977년 도입된 선분양 제도도 한국 아파트의 수명을 낮추는데 한몫했다고 말한다. 선분양제로 돈을 받은 뒤 건축을 시작하면서 건설회사가 제품 경쟁력보다 원가절감, 이윤 극대화를 추구할 수 있게 되었다. 때문에 선분양제는 신축 아파트에 금이 가거나, 각종 하자가 발생하는 일이 끊이지 않는 원인으로 지목되고 있다. 건설업 관계자는 “30~40년 뒤에 어차피 허물 것이라면 굳이 100년 버티는 설계를 염두에 둘 필요가 없다”라고 말했다. 건설사는 아파트 수명이 짧아야 일거리가 생긴다. 다만 이미 재건축된 아파트들이 규제 한도에 맞춰 신축되어 이전과 같은 수익성은 보장할 수 없다. 수익성을 높이기 위해 건설사가 자재를 전반적으로 하향시킬 가능성도 존재한다. 업계가 한국 아파트의 수명이 쉽게 늘어나지 않을 거라 보는 이유다. - @greenbliss7 on Instagram

To røffe år! Etter å ha studert og tatt 105 studiepoeng i pedsem, norsk og krle på fritida, ved siden av jobben som kontaktlærar og rådgjevar på Øygarden ungdomsskule, gjer eg meg nokre refleksjonar. Prioriterer eg tida mi rett? Mine tre augesteinar blir kjørt til trening, får hjelp til lekser, får klem og kos, men er det nok? Eg bruker tid på jobb, trening, venner, opplevelsesfirmaet eg driv med min gode kamerat, dugnad og frivillig arbeid. På toppen av det eksponerer eg meg med mine fjortis aktiviteter på sosiale medier. Draumen om å klatre seven summits gjer at eg bruker tid på bedrifter for å høre om dei vil sponse meg i å nå eit mål som gjer at mange ser på meg som egoistisk. Nokon trur eg leker rundt, og lever av sponsormidler. Dei ser for seg gigantiske summer som blir brukt på lek og morro, mens realiteten er at eg har måtte låne 350 000 i banken for å koma så langt som eg har gjort til no. Penger som eg har betalt ned på ved å ta ekstrajobber, og jobbe endå hardere ved siden av studier og jobb. Det er lett å gjere seg opp ein meining om nokon gjennom intrykket ein får av glansa bilete i sosiale medier. Lett å dømme, lett å gjere seg opp eit førsteinntrykk som kanskje ikkje stemmer med røynda. Er det egoistisk å klatre Everest? Spesielt når ein har born? Bruker eg nok tid på ungane mine? På jobben? På dugnad? På vener og familie? Eg har ikkje alltid svaret, av og til tenkjer eg at eg er nett det, egoistisk. Andre gonger kjenner eg på at eg gjer meir av meg sjølv enn det eg opplever at andre gjer, at eg er eit ja-menneske som tømmer energitanken min for andre. Nokon gonger lurer eg på om det å gje opp draumen min er rett, eller egoistisk det og. Er eg eit dårlig forbilde for jentene mine om eg gjer opp? Eg som alltid har sagt til dei at det er viktig å draume, setje seg mål og så gå for draumane sine. At det å gje opp ikkje er eit alternativ, iallefall ikkje før du har prøvd ditt aller beste. Har du gjort det, så er det greit. Då er det greit å draume nye draumar, å setje seg nye mål. Eg veit sanneleg ikkje. Det er ein del av det å vere menneske. Shattered 💤 it’s been a while since I ran along the ridge. I’m a bit weather obsessed at the moment and with rain forecast from tomorrow I needed this! My PT used to have digs at me for choosing 90mins of cardio over 20mins HITT 🤣 For me, running in the mountains is as much about mental health as physical. I like the serotonin buzz, the views, the peace and the empowered feeling. As sunshine and vit D levels drop in the uk, it’s more important than ever to try to get outside 🌳 I always get asked .. so this is the ridge up to Mam Tor above Castleton in the Peak District. A favourite with hikers, mountain bikers and fell runners. It’s a fairly steep climb to the top and the ridge is like a dinosaur 🦕 but well marked footpaths and the best views! Devised by Carat UK and Posterscope together with Mural Republic, the striking mural features a hyper-real recreation of a photo of the players embraced in a hug and is supported by a digital out of home takeover throughout the city. Normalmente trabalho com pintura abstrata sobrepondo camadas, no entanto durante o período atual, além de não estar produzindo em meu ateliê, sinto que as cores não estão dando conta do que quero expressar. Durante dias me deparei com duas telas preparadas com camadas de tinta e gesso, pintei campos cromáticos e voltei a observa-las por mais alguns dias, não satisfeito lixei as cores e com a espátula removi também partes do gesso, continuei descamando até passar pela trama do tecido e por fim atingi o interior de papel cartão. Âmago é um díptico que pode se desdobrar numa nova série, a obra convida à reflexão sobre “o que está por baixo”, acredito que esse processo de escavação converge com o tempo de introspecção, revendo certezas, verdades, histórias, valores e crenças. #edusilva #visualart #artistavisu #amago - @edusilva.art on Instagram

- This is called the Time Pyramid. Its a structure in Germany that is set to be completed in 3183. Every 10 years one concrete block is added. Since its creation in 1993, three blocks have been added (1993, 2003, 2013). The finished product will be made of 120 blocks.

Você tem alguém que você possa ligar não importa a hora da madrugada, a ocasião, para falar, simplesmente falar? Por maior que possa parecer ser a besteira que você vai falar, por mais que você ache que ninguém vai te entender, por mais ridículo que você pareça? Por maior que seja esse esforço de falar, por mais vontade que você tenha de mergulhar nessa espiral, por mais que essa dor enorme tenha tomado conta de você, por mais que essa apatia, falta de energia seja maior que tudo. Que essa escuridão densa tenha tomado conta de tudo, preenchido cada espaço..... FALE!!! FALE!!! FALE!!! Literalmente desembuche, bote pra fora tudo isso, vomite. No começo vai ser difícil, depois aos poucos, vai saindo e quando você se dá por conta já tá falando, contando. Eu tenho pessoas que eu amo mais que tudo nessa vida, e quando, e se, eu precisar vão me ouvir. Já precisei falar, já precisei ouvir. E eles estavam ali, como ainda estão há anos. Tenho certeza que vc também tem essas pessoas mesmo não percebendo. Vou deixar alguns sinais para que a gente possa reconhece-los: - Saber ouvir a outra pessoa, mesmo quando você também tiver problemas. Chegará a sua vez e alguém ouvirá você e o apoiará. - Apoiar o que a outra pessoa expõe sem criticar, sem julgar e sem tentar manipular. - Ter uma mente aberta frente ao problema que você estiver ouvindo. - Se a pessoa está deprimida ou em estado de tristeza muito profunda, sempre que ela precisar esteja ali para ela. - Interesse-se pelo seu bem-estar, por saber se você pode solucionar os seus problemas. Today was my 15th time bringing small groups of visitors Sable Island. I am incredibly fortunate to show such interested and thoughtful people this special place. Not surprisingly, it takes a long time to even scratch the surface of understanding the things that make this island unique and magical, but I am beginning to. Its not just horses and seals on a sandy island. It is so much more. From endemic species, to regular and unique migratory visitors, or the delicate balance of ecosystem and habitat taking place in solitude. The structure of the dunes has its own ebbs and flows like the tides and currents that surround it. It is ever changing, protecting and exposing, always in motion, and providing a home to the very things that preserve its existence. BBQ Chicken w/ Broccoli and Sweet Potato! All BBQ’d in less than 20 minutes! BOOKMARK AND SAVE FOR LATER BBQ CHICKEN INSTRUCTIONS 1.Preheat grill to medium-high heat 2.Sprinkle seasoning of choice on chicken. 3.Cook chicken about 6 min per side. This seals the juices in keeping your chicken breasts nice and moist. The higher heat gives a nice sear adding the char from the barbecue that we all love so much! 4.Coat in BBQ sauce! BBQ GARLIC ROASTED BROCCOLI INSTRUCTIONS: 1.Toss together the broccoli, oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder (to taste). Make sure the broccoli is well coated. 2.Place a large piece of foil on the grill. Add the broccoli on top and grill for 8-10 minutes until tender crisp. BBQ SWEET POTATO INSTRUCTIONS: **NOTE: The sweet potato can take up to one hour. I recommend the microwave method found in one of my previous posts if you are in a rush. Takes only 9 minutes. 1.Preheat grill over medium-low heat 2.Tightly wrap sweet potatoes in tin foil. 3.Place sweet potatoes on grill, close lid and cook for 40 minutes. 4.Check doneness (I just squeeze with barbecue tongs). 5.Depending on the size of your sweet potatoes they may need another 20-30 minutes. 6.Continue cooking until fully cooked. Try it yourself!
