Honored to have been Juried into the American Impressionist Society’s Annual National Exhibition 2020 with my plein air painting “View at the Boat Pond, Central Park NYC” being held at Illume Gallery in St. George, Utah this fall. The boat pond is one of my favorite painting locations in Central Park especially in the late afternoon when the long cast shadows and rich water reflections create dramatic compositions. @americanimpressionistsociety @illumegallery #pleinairpainting #nycartist #americanimpressionistssociety #oilpaintersofamerica #illumegallery #salmagundiclub #americanwomenartists @amwomenartists @oilpaintersofamerica @salmagundiclub - @ellen_buselli on Instagram

- In POTC: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), most of Jack Sparrow’s hats are made of rubber. This is because Johnny Depp kept losing them and throwing them overboard. After he lost ten leather hats, the costume designer started making them out of rubber so that they would float instead of sink.

Britannia, a whaling ship that brought convicts and supplies to Sydney as part of the Third Fleet, was the first ship to harpoon a sperm whale off the Australian coast, in October 1791. The whaling industry helped the fledgling colony survive and the industry flourished until a downturn in the 1850s and the eventual overharvesting of many species. The last whaling station in Australia closed in 1978. Australia is today a leading member of the International Whaling Commission and deeply engaged in the fight against whaling. - @renacimientoed on Instagram

If you love looking at art books featuring the paintings of Van Gogh, then you would love this interactive exhibition of the work of Van Gogh on right now at the Toronto Star building. Only 7 to 9 cars allowed each time; no matter where you park you are surrounded by his work on all four walls. Fabulous presentation, I didn’t want it to be over. Now to get the books ou again. - @nancy.frater on Instagram

What a dreamy scene! Light and dark patches of color, unmixed and placed side by side, fuse together to create an Impressionist interpretation of the Oise River, near Pontoise, France, and its surroundings. In depicting the sailing barges and a steam-powered tug next to the small boat with two figures leisurely floating nearby, Camille Pissarro presents industry as an integral part of the modern landscape. Camille Pissarro, French, 1830-1903, The Banks of the Oise, Near Pontoise, 1876, oil on canvas, 14 15/16 x 21 7/8 in. (38 x 55.5 cm). Ackland Art Museum, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
