For those who dont know, he was a Golden Age Captain America artist, usually working close with the likes of the Great Stan Lee himself. I keep thinking about heart in this time.... on this day 6 years ago, I won the Chicago Golden Gloves. I remember how focused I was training twice a day but mostly I remember constantly repeating to myself “I’m gonna win the Golden Gloves, I’m gonna win the Golden Gloves” - like a broken record... after I won someone asked me, what would you have done if you didn’t win? Listen up, Today marks the ten year anniversary of the very first Foreseen gig. The show took place at one of the temporary locations of the legendary Oranssi-klubi on 3th of April 2010. With us on the bill were Cold Inside, Eye For All & Hammertime. Our setlist consisted of all the songs from the first 7 and covers of Rise And Fall by Leeway and Darkness by Integrity. In 2005 I had the opportunity to speak on the phone with @alanmenken, and it was a call that changed my life in more ways than I can say: lessons were learned, questions were answered, and wisdom was imparted. From that conversation, many of my lifes most pivotal decisions were made, and his words are etched in my memory and continue to guide me today. But perhaps the biggest thing I learned from him was not anything he said, but rather what he did. He, a globally-acclaimed multi-Oscar and Grammy award-winning composer, took 30 minutes out of his day to talk to an unknown 20 year-old aspiring composition major from whom he was several degrees removed. During our conversation he was kind, forthright, and fully present, asking me questions and offering advice. The big lesson: always be generous with your time. Whatever measure of success youre fortunate enough to achieve, you will never be too big, nor will anyone else ever be too small. Alan Menken taught me that. Norwest took the event to a new level, setting benchmarks for international sporting ceremonies audio production. Not bad work from a guy who had only set the company up a few years’ prior as a one-man-band 💪🏼🔊 It was a BIG night and many big things happened after that. We also went on to deliver the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for Athens 2004, Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, London 2012 and Rio 2016. Smokey Hormel, our long time band member and all things fretted historian, of course knew Ian from I believe a Rick Rubin project they worked on together. He invited Ian down to this Austin City Limits performance. I had seen Ian’s “Bump Band” perform in Austin several times and had been as inspired by them as much as anything he had done w all of the greats he’d already been associated w in the past. starstruck is an understatement. In person he could not have made me feel more at ease as he was the literal fun-lovin, easy-goin’ cartoon character and epitome of the classic rock, British Blues-er ethos. We talked for hours and then we were both wisked away. He died within the year. Fabio also broke the record for being the youngest racer to win a CEV, at the age of 14 years 218 days and he was nicknamed The Next Marc Marquez. Fabio had a fierce battle with his rivals, namely Marcos Ramirez, Adrian Martin, and Hafiq Azmi and finally the title fell to the French Rider, Fabio Quartararo. He finished the 2014 season after winning 9 of the 11 races at the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3. In 2015 Fabio was given the opportunity to play in Moto3 defending Estrella Galicia 0.0 along with his teammate, Jorge Navarro. At that time, Fabio was 15 years old, while in the previous regulations, Moto3 could only be followed by riders who were at least 16 years old. However, in 2015 Dorna changed the rules and allowed CEV winners to enter Moto3. He got his first pole position in Moto3 Spain. However, he was hit by an ankle injury that was severe enough to disrupt his final debut in Moto3. Fabio closed the 2015 season with 92 points and is ranked 10th. Continued in 2016, Fabio defended the Leopard Racing team to drive a Honda. But without communication with Fabio, Fabio who should have driven a Honda, was replaced with KTM.
