After an 18 year effort the dam on the Middle Fork Nooksack in Washington State was blown to rubble. The dam was built to divert drinking water from this glacial fed river to the City of Bellingham. It also blocked spring chinook and steelhead from 16 miles of spawning grounds. A balance was achieved to continue the flow of drinking water while removing the dam. Croton Gorge Park LI Hike Rating: Easy-Moderate Dog Friendly: Yes (On Leash) Distance: Old Croton Aqueduct Dam – 1.6 Miles Old Croton Aqueduct Trailway – 6.5 Miles Cost: $10 per vehicle Description: Croton Gorge Park is located Upstate NY in the Croton-on-Hudson region and is a breathtaking trip not far from Long Island. This gem offers immaculate waterfall views to the left as you head over the bridge and into the park. The Aqueduct Dam Trail starts at the base of the gorge (where there is a large base area great for picnicking), and leads up onto the bridge and back down. The sound of the water rushing down the aqueduct will leave you in awe as heard in the video! LI HIKE is located in the Oyster Bay area and the trip took approximately 1 hour to reach the park. There is also a longer Aqueduct Trailway which spans from the park all the way to the Hudson River, if you have the time and are up for the distance. The park also offers a playground for kids to enjoy to the right of the parking area. If you are looking to get off of Long Island for a day trip adventure, Croton Gorge Park is the perfect place to go. WAPDA today advertised as many as 124 vacancies ranging from Basic Pay Scale (BPS) 6 to 16, against which only the people belonging to District Diamer, Gilgit Baltistan will be recruited.
