Our History: The concept of founding the Committee of 100 came from the renowned architect, the late I.M. Pei and Dr. Henry Kissinger, 56th U.S. Secretary of State in 1988. Kissinger discussed with Pei the notion of organizing an influential group of Chinese Americans to address issues of international concern between the United States and China. Using DNA testing and with the assistance of a seasoned genealogist, I now have a name and a face that has eluded my family for half a century. It was always my mother’s wish to find her father. Born in 1947 to farmers in rural Arkansas, you left for war at 17, in that war brought an incredible girl into the world. There is so little about you in the records—looking for you reminds me how easily we are erased, how easily history exhales us back as air, won’t keep any of us long enough to be found.
