Living my life to it’s curliest. 🤟🏼👩🏽🦱 After years of trying to return back to my happy and healthy curls, we’re finally here! I feel proud to post this selfie, knowing how comfortable and confident I feel in my hair. Wishing I could go back to wipe those tears and tell my 12 year old self that my hair is beautiful naturally how it is, no matter what anyone says. For years I was bullied for my curly hair in school and would waste 2-4 hours trying to straighten it everyday... on the floor with a hot clothing iron... the absolute worst for your hair!!! All to just look “normal”... I was called things like ”mop head” and told by other classmates that they were going to “mop the dirty floor with my hair”. Honestly thinking back, kids can be so cruel in a world where we’re all that young and trying to figure ourselves out. scarred from the bullying, I destroyed my hair to the point that it took over 8 YEARS to restore. Fun fact about me #3 🤗⠀ ⠀ I love my natural hair!⠀ ⠀ I never straighten it and my self-care routine includes a lot of curly hair love too.⠀ ⠀ So, when it was going straight the year before I relapsed, I was upset! While I know it’s just hair, I was upset because my curly hair is something that makes me, me. And when I relapsed, it was just got worse. So, I actually permed it at the end of last year to mimic my natural curls 😅(which was huge because I never have even coloured my hair, so to put perming chemicals in it was something else!) ⠀ Total regrets because it didn’t hold that well, my hair was frizzier and let’s not even mention how many spoons the whole ordeal took 🥄 ⠀ ⠀ Anyway, my hairdresser mentioned that the straightness of my hair is actually a reflection of what is going on inside my body. Because I was really ill, it was showing up in my hair as well as, every other aspect of my life 😅. Whereas, others it might show up in their skin. ⠀ ⠀ So over the last year or so, I’ve been really focusing on my health journey (as you may have seen) and giving my body what it needs to be it’s very best. And I’ve learnt two things that help my hair health:⠀ ⠀ ✨ how I style my hair and how often I wash it. ⠀ ⠀ I’d be lucky if I wash it twice a week 😂 (spoon-related and curl-related!) and I’ve been loving @cantubeauty ‘s curl activator cream and @redken styling products. I’ve also just tried @curlswithkeish ‘s curl re-training method and I mean... look at these curls 😍(and look at hers!) ⠀ ✨ how I nourish my body⠀ ⠀ This has been a big factor because it’s really helped my energy be more stable and increase; but it’s also made my skin, hair and nail health thrive! ⠀ ⠀ When you are taking care of your body, it really shows up in all aspects of life, be it mind, strength/stamina and appearance. ⠀ ⠀ So it’s really a all-round win, I’m feeling stronger and I’ve got this amazing by-product of getting my much loved curls back 🥰 #freshlyfatiguedzoe #curlgirl - @freshlyfatiguedzoe on Instagram

CHALLENGE NOT ACCEPTED. Once again we are asleep not connecting the dots. When will we wake up and start questioning rather than just accepting anything and everything that souths our ego? It’s my belief that we need to expand our mind and open our heart. When we lead with our heart the world will change. Less human doing and more human being! To me this challenge will be change and about supporting women when ALL WOMEN are posting a photo, not just the chosen honered ones. I too almost fell for this challenge that I strongly suggest is another attempt of a social construct to devide and separate us, especially us women. Not to mention that it is trying to take our attention away from the real purpose of the black and white photo. YES supporting women is always a beautiful thing but this isn’t it! This is another popularity contest driven by our ego. “Doing a good thing” unaware of the energy we are sending out. This is my perception and perspective (but I can definitely see it from many other perspectives, so there is no judgment. I simply believe we need to expand our mind and heart). From my perspective we are once again reinforcing the idea and limited belief that every woman shouldn’t be celebrated by every woman. Only the carefully chosen in private dms that resonates with our ideas and values are the focus of our love and support. Once again we fail to stand united as one, celebrating our uniqueness regardless of beliefs, values, culture, etc etc. 80% of my 100k followers are women. Why would I support a message and challenge that only 50 women of my network should be celebrated of 80k women? Take a moment and feel this in your heart. And not in your thinking mind with all your reasoning and excuses that “I” did a good thing. Because that’s our ego talking. You didn’t do anything wrong!! I understand the intention but there is layers to our behaviour that we need to start questioning within ourselves. You do deserve all the love and celebration in the world. Got my first haircut in almost a year and these curls are LIVINGGGG! For my #curlies in the room, this is a #OneProductWashAndGo on day 2 hair, with @kenraprofessional ‘s curl defining cream. If there’s something that has been bothering me a long time it is that a lot of ‘Curl Type Charts’ that have been going around the internet are giving false information. I know making a chart like this and figuring out which curl type is yours can be though sometimes. But that doesn’t mean that you can just make something up. I’ve seen curl charts where 2C = 3B and where 2A (which I do not see as a curl pattern) = 2C. And it might come in handy someday to know which curl type you have so you know which methods you can use on your curls! Most of us have more than 1 curl type and that’s totally normal, but I tried my best to make a Curl Type Chart which is as accurate as it can be! Okay so a few people were asking what I did to get my hair like this so I thought I’d make a post. I would consider my hair 2c/3a (wavy with some loose curls here and there) and high porosity. 1. wash with curls blueberry bliss shampoo 2. Deep conditioned with curls blueberry bliss reparative hair mask. I only do this once a week. I also mixed it with Neutral protein filler 3. Brushed that conditioner in with a denman brush, tied up and let sit for 15 minutes 4. Washed out but left a tiny bit in for moisture 5. Brushed again with denman brush. Then I took my ecoslay orange marmalade and used the praying hands method to apply it all over my hair while it was soaking wet 6. Scrunched it and then plopped it with a wet tshirt 7. After I removed the plop, I added more of the marmalade by scrunching it into my hair 8.
