SOME HAVE SAID.... that deep within the blackest seas exists a beast named the Kraken. Legend has it, a ship carrying spiced rum from the Caribbean fell prey to the Kraken. The beast thrust upon the ship its massive limbs, plunging the vessel and the men on board into impenetrable darkness. Everything on board was destroyed except a single barrel of rum, stained black by the Kraken’s ink. In honour of the legend, the Kraken is crafted from aged Caribbean rum, and blended with a secret mix of spices to produce a rum as bold, black, and smooth as the beast itself. Those who enjoy the Kraken today best do so with a fearful respect of the sea and its many mysteries . The story of the Kraken traces back through the ages. Visit with us for an uneasy dalliance in the world of Latvian artist and provocateur, Artūrs Bērziņš (Arthur Berzinsh), a name which is fast becoming synonymous with daring and subversive acts of artistic expression. In March 2018, Arthur made international headlines with his living installation titled Eschatology, in which flesh was surgically removed from the backs of two volunteers, cooked in a frypan, and then fed to them - a bold and highly symbolic act intended as a parable for the destructive effects of our rampant consumerism upon the very fabric of our humanity - consume until there is nothing left to devour but ourselves. . . Teeming with eroticism, malevolence and macabre humour in equal measure, Arthurs diverse and fascinating portfolio features oil-paintings, multimedia photo-manipulations, live installations and a number of music videos, as well as some set-design work for theatrical productions. A long-running collaboration with British extreme black metallers, Cradle Of Filth, has seen Artūrs provide the artwork for several of the bands album covers, as well as directing one of their recent music videos. . .
