Afgelopen vrijdag bij “M” (Margriet van der Linden) was Ahmet Marcouch te gast. In mei schreef hij een open brief over onder andere homoseksuelen die veel moeite hebben om uit de kast te komen met name binnen islamitische gezinnen. Het is een bijzondere stem die wordt gehoord. De uitzending ging over mensen die van betekenis zijn (geweest) in de samenleving en die om deze reden een standbeeld verdienen. Wat ons betreft verdient deze burgemeester met zijn uitgesproken steun zelf een groot standbeeld! Burgemeester Marcouch verteld over mensen die uit angst voor afwijzing met zichzelf worstelen en niet zichzelf kunnen zijn en ook leven in een omgeving waarbij mensen worden vernederd, hen afwijst of zelfs met geweld bedreigd worden omdat ze zijn wie ze zijn. Door deze worsteling dubbellevens leiden met alle risico’s van dien. In de tijd dat hij bij de politie werkzaam was heeft hij veel gezien. Marcouch zegt hierover: “Ze gaan er echt kapot aan, psychisch, maar grijpen ook eerder naar de drank en drugs en komen hierdoor in de goot terecht, ik heb suïcidale pogingen gezien.” Hij eindigt dit onderwerp met: “De manier hoe je kijkt naar de ander en de ruimte die je de ander laat is voor een groot deel ontstaan in de wieg. De opvoeding is daar heel belangrijk bij. Iemand heeft van dag één recht op een goed leven.“ In de Gemeente Haarlem en de Gemeente Velsen zijn we vanuit Stichting Regenboogloket een project gestart waarbij we een laagdrempelige “veilige route” aan het opzetten zijn voor de (vaak verborgen groep) biculturele LHBTI-ers. De eenzaamheid en worsteling die wij bij de mensen tegenkomen is enorm groot. Vaak voelen mensen zich ook onveilig. We willen “de veilige routes” breder gaan inzetten. Binnenkort meer hierover. Graag komen we met mensen in contact die hier een bijdrage in zouden kunnen leveren. Ervaringsdeskundigen en rolmodellen. En...
